Well this will be a massive step up for the Halo series considering every other Halo game ever made has been CG only. My interest has peaked!

mgs4 does thatI've always wanted a game that runs seemlessly between cinematic and gameplay with no graphics change, for a long time.
Thank you, Bungie. Except I won't get it cause I don't have a 360. But maybe other devs will try it out.

Didn't they say the same thing about Halo 3?White_Wolf21
Yes. And it was true.
In-game? You mean like this? I'll wait for the beta.II-FBIsniper-IIThat's an in-engine demonstration of the game. Wasn't all too surprising how the final product turned out seeing as how practically nothing was going on in the in-engine demonstration.
Millions of fanboys are going to get massively owned later today, I can't wait! :D.Rockman999How so exactly?
[QUOTE="Squall18"]ODST ran on the Halo 3 engine.........which is a modified Halo 2 engine.........which is why it looks rough. Halo Reach runs on a new, custom engine, built specifically for the 360.Link
According to their twitter....We'll see. I personally thought Halo ODST was kinda ugly at times
navyguy21
I always found it weird that people thought ODST was ugly. H3 and ODST are still the only games to run true HDR lighting on any console ever (not talking about pc). Some of the ODST models might not have been jaw dropping but the lighting in that game was amazing.
Well, that's what Sony said with Killzone 2's first trailer. They delivered, so there's nothing to say that Bungie won't.
Still, let's wait until the trailer's actually out, shall we? lol.
Bungie always admitted that Halo 3's trailer was a blend of in game, cgi, AND Life Action footage. Only fanboys tried to pass it off as all gameplay. Bungie never lied about it.I will remain apprehensive. I still remember the 2006 trailer enough to know that any developers can lie... a recent example is Turn 10.

go play uncharted 2 or killzone 2 if u want 2 see that seamless cutscene change thingI've always wanted a game that runs seemlessly between cinematic and gameplay with no graphics change, for a long time.

Turn 10 showed gameplay, so no they did not lie, and anyway reach could look like halo 3 and still be an incredible FPS.I will remain apprehensive. I still remember the 2006 trailer enough to know that any developers can lie... a recent example is Turn 10.

Not to mention that the water looked awesome, some of the textures looked amazing, the effects looked good, and some of the levels looked really beautiful & organic (The level Cortana comes to mind). So yeah, I thought Halo 3 & Halo ODST looked great. Why is the game being shown today??ComBaTsOuL

More than likely it'll be like that engine rendered halo3 announcement trailer, which will be ok by me, as long as it isn't another stupid cgi or live action trailer that isn't indicative of what it's going to look like.

Cows will get owned if Reach looks close to or better than Uncharted 2 and Lemmins will get owned if it doesn't.Either way, millions of fanboys will get owned.

Yep. Millions of cows are gonna get pwned next week. All those expecting a new graphics king are going to be disappointed.
I'm expecting a great artstyle and an extremely polished game.
That's an in-engine demonstration of the game. Also, if they could achieve those graphics with their engine, then why didn't the same cutscene in the final game even look half as good?

Well, King Kong and Dead Space didn't have a HUD, so...who knows?[QUOTE="789shadow"]
It would be hilarious if there was no HUD.:P
gmc2u_64
Eh, you missed the point. The devs are saying that all footage shown will be gameplay, but a lack of an HUD would call that into question.
It has? Halo 2 looked amazing and was one of the best looking games last generation imo.I don't know what you guys are expecting over Reach. Bungie has always been about balance and polish over graphics.
I'm expecting Reach to look very similar to Halo Reach similar Halo 3 but with better textures and a larger scale.

Don't make stuff up. "...our cinematics run real time in our game engine" (Bungie) They never said they were showing gameplay, just cinematics running real-time. I assume you've played Kingdom Hearts 2 from your avatar. For the most part, except some scenes like the intro and ending (CG), it featured cutscenes with the game engine. Reach will also be like that probably.I really don't care that bungie in game assets can make a pre-rendered, pre-baked cinematic trailers. I am amazed that uncharted 2 had beautiful cutscenes, or gears of war 2 had beautiful cutscenes. I want to see gameplay or nothing. These pre-rendered in game cinematics just brings out the stupidity in people. I can gurantee that there will be at least 100 topics about halo reach is the graphic king because of in game pre-rendered cinematic.
Don't worry. Seeing how people love to be lied to continually about pre-rendered cinematics it pleases me that they want to be lied to about halo reach at least xbox fanboys. And sony fanboys when the resistance 3 trailer hits.

Now we have to get ready for all the OMFG HALO REACH LOOKS BETTER THEN ALL PS3 EXCLUSIVES threads ... yea this is gonna be a long repetitive road ...

I'm interested to see if Bungie will run 720p with 2xAA like FM3 or UC2. Halo has always had great style and incredible lighting, the jaggies and low poly characters made H3 look somewhat early/last gen. After seeing FM3 I have no doubt Reach will look amazing.
Hopefully they can step it up a level above H3 Theater Mode shots...

I fail how to see how dark, depressing, and unrealistic graphics equal anything close to good. Not to mention I personally think having bright flashy colors for a sci fi story is perfect. Nice and shiny.

Racer850
Did you not see what Turn 10 showed at e3? It was a bunch of horse ****.
I just have doubts in my mind about this whole reach thing. ODST was the first Halo with focus on story telling and co-op as somebody who isn't super human. Even though this is the case it was weak and didn't stand on it's own without the MP disc. To me ODST was the best Halo game since the first and I still found it to be "not enough" to show me that Bungie is capable of making a single player experience worthy of the price tag.
ODST was the first game where they had the chance to really change the formula... really make things interesting. Instead we get Halo 1 health, you can still wield a gravity hammer, you can still rip turrets off the ground and walk around like a terminator and you can still jump 15 feet vertically.
Bungie will manage to underwhelm people in some way or another and I'm not just talking about the people who are on bandwagons either.
