I'm interested to see if Bungie will run 720p with 2xAA like FM3 or UC2. Halo has always had great style and incredible lighting, the jaggies and low poly characters made H3 look somewhat early/last gen. After seeing FM3 I have no doubt Reach will look amazing.

Hopefully they can step it up a level above H3 Theater Mode shots...

That actuelly looks great. :|

That's because it's a photo that was taken in the game and even then it looks just about passable. If you were to use a capture card it would look worse than that.

Odds are since its Halo, people most likely wouldn't have mistaken gameplay for CG...

I just know Reach better look amazing. Rare managed to take a game engine that was moved across 3 platforms and make it look great even by today's standards with Kameo. Bungie really dropped the ball in the pursuit of full dynamic lighting.

Your title is misleading, it says that it's in-engine not in-game.

That's good because you see more of the actually game, but with CGI, you remember it more. I don't even like Halo, and I remember the Halo 3 unveiling video. It was bad ass. It sticks in your mind more, and when you think of the game, you think of that bad-ass-ness.

I've always wanted a game that runs seemlessly between cinematic and gameplay with no graphics change, for a long time.

Thank you, Bungie. Except I won't get it cause I don't have a 360. But maybe other devs will try it out.

ah Uncharted 2 did that very well

MGS4 too.

Halo 3 announcement trailer wasn't CGI, it was in-engine. CGI is something like the cinematics from Halo Wars -- now THOSE cinematics are damn impressive, and will be remembered.

Even the seemless part? I want it straight from cinematic to gameplay, no black screen, and for a FPS that would be even better. Have the awesome cinematic in first person and keep playing in first person.

Yup, perfectly seamless. The only loading you ever see is when you first start the game.

MSG4 not so much. It had all those stupid "smoke break" install scenes.

I mean you saw a cutscene and then the camera panned to a different angle and it was gameplay.

I will remain apprehensive. I still remember the 2006 trailer enough to know that any developers can lie... a recent example is Turn 10.

Turn 10 showed gameplay, so no they did not lie, and anyway reach could look like halo 3 and still be an incredible FPS.

Did you not see what Turn 10 showed at e3? It was a bunch of horse ****.

I just have doubts in my mind about this whole reach thing. ODST was the first Halo with focus on story telling and co-op as somebody who isn't super human. Even though this is the case it was weak and didn't stand on it's own without the MP disc. To me ODST was the best Halo game since the first and I still found it to be "not enough" to show me that Bungie is capable of making a single player experience worthy of the price tag.

ODST was the first game where they had the chance to really change the formula... really make things interesting. Instead we get Halo 1 health, you can still wield a gravity hammer, you can still rip turrets off the ground and walk around like a terminator and you can still jump 15 feet vertically.

Bungie will manage to underwhelm people in some way or another and I'm not just talking about the people who are on bandwagons either.

Your playing the wrong genre if you want a strong SP. Mp is where it's at! :P Seriously, cut the complaining and just wait till the game actually comes out before judging it

so did MGS4. .

Yes but Uncharted 2 doesnt stop to load every few chapters like MGS4 did. You can load up Uncharted 2 and have the load ad the start and thats it. It will go from cutscene to live action like that, and there is no stops to load a section

Halo cutscenes have always been in engine.
