Want something to play on the college time during my break, I like both but only going to get one, so which one do you guys recommend. I feel that the DS has a lot of useless games and remakes but some are really good. thanks

I'd say go with the PSP. Crisis core, Dissidia, Star Ocean: The Second Departure, all are amazing titles. But i'm an RPG fanatic so you might hate those games

That is a real tough one, because I've had some amazing games on both platforms, but I'd lean more towards the PSP, because you get great media funcitonality on top of a great library of games.

TC make a list of games you're interested in and base your choice on that.

Personally, I like more PSP games. BTW there was a similar topic a while ago (college guy asking the same stuff) and someone said PSP had no games, so someone else made a list of great PSP games and the college guy was sold.

That's probably true, but the DS counters that with Brain-Age and other mind-stimulating puzzle games, I guess. :P

The PSP had some great games at one time and may so again. But for the time being it has only had 1 AA+ game in the last 6 months and that is also on the DS. Well in the last 6 months the DS has had 14 AA games and 1 AAA game. There is just so many more good games on the DS to get the PSP over it. I would recommend both the PSP had a good year in '06 and there is a lot of good used games on the system. But if you were just too pick one then I would recommend the DS.

Durrr. This is like those "Hey i want to play with my family what console should i buy?" threads where everyone tries their best to not mention the wii. With the limited amount of information we get from the TC the ds is the only logical answer. The only use of this thread would be our interesting arguments as to why...

Well my reasons for liking DS are: nintendo's service, variation + new gameplay because of dual/touch screen, i can't get enough of zelda's and Advance Wars and it is getting the most support. I guess there is GBC support but *cough*piratesheartemu's*cough*.
My reasons for disliking PSP are: it's even bigger, it can't be closed, it uses discs, it has a bunch of useless features (wow i can play movies... boring), and its screen is too reflective for me (or is that only in the original version?).
Something bad that You need to know about the DS is that the touchscreen WILL get scratched unless You use a little screen protector (transparent layer You stick onto the screen) and most of those don't work that well in my experience.

Woah woah woah. Nintendo's service? Nintendo's service isn't that hot.

My DS lite's screen went out, I called them and witnessed the worst customer service I've ever recieved. Not only did they blame me for something I did not do (refused to believe my DS was not dropped by me or someone else), they had a major attitude, and I would have to pay 80$ to repair a handheld from what used to be the most reliable hardware maker out there, less than 2 years after the system was purchased.

Compare that with the my PS2 which broke to a design flaw 3 years after purchase last gen, and was fixed for free by Sony after speaking to a helpful and friendly tech.

1. List the games you like or you would like to try for both systems.
2. Check if you want/need the PSP's multimedia application.
3. Compare both systems.
4. Buy the system w/c won.

DS = more games, variety to explore. 2_Quiet_2_Riot
it may have more games but only about 12 are any good for his age...I am 30 have both and the ds has a very slim amount of games I like...ff 3 ff4, dq5, the 3 castlevanias, mazes of fate, orcs and elves, metal slug, civ , and age of empires, with maybe a few others, but the rest is just shovelware like the wii...for psp I have over 25 games and more.... games like syphon filter dark mirror and logan's shadow, these 2 games alone look better then ps2 games....medal of honor heroes, star wars renegade squadron, final fantasy tactics, crysis core, god of war, wipeout pure/pulse, twisted metal, medieval res, dungeon maker, lumines, gta lcs, gta vcs, jeanne d arc, valkeria profile lenneth, star ocean 1 and 2, socom fire team bravos, socom tactical, mega man powered up, killzone liberation, streetfighter alpha max 3, burnout legends, ohhh yeah you got the ps1 library on psp too!!! and some remote play ps3 games and movies, music and video....

the psp with its 333mhz processor 64mb ram and high res 440x240 res widescreen, is the way to go...plus you get internet, internet radio, skype, and a whole slew of unmentionalbe stuff.(can't speak of.) really all the ds has is a few games and pictochat which isn't useful as you have to be in range of someone with a ds, and at that point you can just talk ....(would of been cool if it was internet chat...could replace text messaging! but no nintendo doesn't like online, why? The ds like the wii are mainly targeted at kids, parenets don't want their kids talking to people online) .... PSP is targeting older teens and adults....you can;t go wrong with a psp!

If you want to play only cartoonish looking games go for the DS.

But if you want to play games that looks like PS2 games go the PSP. 8)

Just get a PSP then if you think the DS have alot of useless game, personally I would go with the DS because it has a wider range of game to choose from. But if you already had your mind made up then my personal pick on this wouldn't really matter to you anyway.

What do you mean nice try? The guy mentioned a bunch of great games for the psp with it's extra features and you say that? Come on the ds only has a few games that are any good for someone over 20.....pokemon, babez, nindogs, animal crossing, cooking mama, etc.... are not games that a hardcore gamer would like. The psp has ps2 quality games, and so much more added value...music, movies, photo, internet, remote play, radio, skype, game sharing, ps1 play... all the ds has ia few good games that play on nostalgia and pictochat -- which is pointless unless your a little kid, as it's not internet enabled. In fact I haven't seen one game on the ds have open online multiplayer....all the ones I 've seen require you to know the person and enter their code. PSP has dedicated servers with server browsers for games with 32 players...just like on ps3/pc..... for a handhold gaming device!!!! The only way anyone could dis the psp is if they don't own one, or can't afford one....there are just too many good things about it.... Don't get me wrong ds is nice for a few titels, but thats about it.

I can't speak for you, but I got a lot more enjoyment from my DS than I did from my PSP. DS is simply a great machine.

[QUOTE="world69star69"] really all the ds has is a few games and pictochat!IronBass
Almost the whole critic and gaming community may disagree with that ;)

Ok, then what other features does it have? Mine only has picotochat and a few very bare bones settings when you turn it on... Unless I am missing something, but I doubt that...Just because the mainstream and kids like something more...ie...because of nostalgia to the earlty nintendo era and cheaper price, does not mean it has more features...as it cleary has little to no features compared the multimedia gaming device known as the psp!
