[QUOTE="IronBass"][QUOTE="world69star69"] really all the ds has is a few games and pictochat!world69star69
Almost the whole critic and gaming community may disagree with that ;)

Ok, then what other features does it have? Mine only has picotochat and a few very bare bones settings when you turn it on... Unless I am missing something, but I doubt that...Just because the mainstream and kids like something more...ie...because of nostalgia to the earlty nintendo era and cheaper price, does not mean it has more features...as it cleary has little to no features compared the multimedia gaming device known as the psp!

Just WOW. Talk about a cow.

Nice try. :P

What do you mean nice try? The guy mentioned a bunch of great games for the psp with it's extra features and you say that? Come on the ds only has a few games that are any good for someone over 20.....pokemon, babez, nindogs, animal crossing, cooking mama, etc.... are not games that a hardcore gamer would like. The psp has ps2 quality games, and so much more added value...music, movies, photo, internet, remote play, radio, skype, game sharing, ps1 play... all the ds has ia few good games that play on nostalgia and pictochat -- which is pointless unless your a little kid, as it's not internet enabled. In fact I haven't seen one game on the ds have open online multiplayer....all the ones I 've seen require you to know the person and enter their code. PSP has dedicated servers with server browsers for games with 32 players...just like on ps3/pc..... for a handhold gaming device!!!! The only way anyone could dis the psp is if they don't own one, or can't afford one....there are just too many good things about it.... Don't get me wrong ds is nice for a few titels, but thats about it.

You're talking manly men not hardcore.

His post implies to be a list of the psp and ds arguments, it didn't mention the psp faults or the ds strong points. Conveniently all that matters in functionality is online and media? And the psp suddenly has more games?
He mentioned way more games for the psp, and he mentioned Pokemon and not LoZ:phantom hourglass. (Sorry pokemon fans but come on enough pokemon is enough.) It's not a realistic comparison the only good thing about it is that he mentioned online, which everyone else seems to have missed including me. The rest is complete fiddlesticks, a trick using the old "the ds only has a few games that are any good for someone over 20" idea.

For the back catalog of games maybe?

You mean the GTA's and multi-plat games I can play on my PS2?

>_> I was talking about the games. For example, here on GS. On the last six months the DS has had 14 AA games and 1 AAA game. The PSP only one AA... that's also on the DS.

Wow, that's such an original arguement. Even though it's proven that there's more than that, you should stick with it.

If your friends have Monster Hunter...Get a PSP.

EDIT: But seriously, (like most people here have said) take a look at the list of games and see which ones interest you more.

4 of the top 10 games on gamerankings are available on consoles. 1 one of which is a multi-plat with the DS. Half of PSP's best games are available on other machines.

For the first statement: So we're going to judge a system of its worth based on GRs top 10? I can list a good amount of great PSP games that aren't on other systems.

For the second statement, same could be said for practically every system.

I'm sure there is but that's speaking a lot for a system which highest rated games are easily played on your PS2 or DS.

You can't say the same about the DS;) (minus chrono/SM64)

this right here made me laugh. i love how people add multimedia into the argument, thats not really a video game feature. theres a reason why the psp is losing to the ds. The ds is a pure gaming machine and has a lot of games on it. its like taking a xbox/gamecube over a ps2. i mean seriously. The ds has wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more games than the psp. The amount of verity simply kills the psp. i could make a list of Ds games thats worth getting but it wouldnt even be comprehensive enough, since i would be missing a lot more worth wild titles.

PSP has about 70+ games that are good. It offers a wide variety of games. DS does too, but I prefer PSP. If your going to argue to me about this, go ahead.

I bought a handheld for the same reason as you, among a few others. I had a DS, but I didn't really enjoy it that much, so I sold it with my mum and I got a PSP. Im pleased with the choice I made, it's like

IMO, I beg to differ. They release so many games and most of them are shovelware. Yes it has more original titles but PSP has games that doesn't bore you in 10 mins.

maybe you should take that Ds character avatar off. to each his own. im a old school gamer, who miss the days of old school gaming, where games were fresh and different from todays standards. the Ds is a perfect fit for me. i know the back catalog and the future catalog is great. its just overwhelming to keep up with all of the ds titles, its just too much to deal with. Ps: currently enjoying castlevania: order of ecclesia

that only proves you know nothing about the ds. the ds has shovelware, but you expect that from a highly successful console, but it also has a large array of worthy titles, that dwarf the psp titles. you just have to think in reality, instead of the relm of fanboyism.

Know nothing? I used to have a DS and then sold it. I remember I bought a Lite back in July 07 and sold it in July 08 and bought a PSP. I remember my favourite games like Phoenix Wright series (I freakin' love all 4 of em), New Super Mario Bros, Final Fantasy III and others.

Sadly, I found more on PSP.

I used to be crazy about DS. I used to bash PSP saying it has no games to offer. I remember I had a microsoft word document on all the games it had to offer during 2008.\

EDIT: Can we please stop arguing about this. I knew things would go berserk.

From a PSP owner, buy a DS. PSPs really don't have that many games that hold intrest or are actually worthy of playing on the go.

The first question to ask your self is do you want to play fun little games here and there or do you want to play a game you need to play for an hour or two just to get into. the ds can be picked up and played and had fun with in 1 min the psp is more of a console gaming system. the first psp games were mainly ps2 ports that s why it didnt sell that well at first. If it was me i would get the ds it just has more games than the psp. For me a hand held game system wont be played for more than a half hour at a time. If im going to spend that amount of time i will play a console game system ( a 50 inch tv is always better than 4 inches of game screen )

What about the psp scan lines in the 3000 model? If you get one buy the 2000, kind of sucks. Im thinking of buying a DS, lots of good games.

I'd say the PSP. If you like Playstation console games, there are some Playstation-themed games like Killzone: Liberation, Resistance: Retribution, Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, Metal Gear Ops(I can see that by your avatar, you're probably a MGS fan), SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo 1 & 2 and Combined Assault, Wipeout: Pure and Pulse, Daxter, Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters and Secret Agent Clank, and some others. There's also PSOne games you can play on it downloadable from the PS Store. On the PSP, you can also: -Listen to music -Watch videos(transferred to your PSP) -Watch movies(in UMD format at retail stores, but you can buy them from the PS Store too) -Surf the web on an internet browser(but no youtube or video platforms; you have to download the videos and transfer them to your PSP) -Watch TV on your PSP from your cable service(with LocationFree Player sold separately, but you can also download internet TV to your PSP) -Listen to Internet Radio(comes with PSP) I'm saving up for buying a PSP this summer hopefully. There are so many games I'd want to play on it, and my MP3 is now broken, so it would be a nice replacement for my MP3 player to listen to music with, and I could watch movies and video clips, too. All that on one device. I'd go with the PSP, but if you're into games with different types of gameplay from any platform like Brain Age and touch screen/camera featured games, then the DS would fit your gaming needs. - -

If you like RPGs, then DS is a better choice than PSP imo.

Dagon Quest IV, V, VI, IX
7th Dragon
Final Fantasy III & IV
TWEWY
Chrono Trigger
Blood of the Bahamut
Suikoden Tierkreis
Infinite Space
Final Fantasy Legend II remake
Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon
Valkyrie Profile
Phantasy Star 0

and some other games: GTA Chinatown Wars, Professor Layton, Rhytm Heaven, Scribblenauts

EDIT: can't believe I forgot Ninokuni which is Studio Ghibli and Level 5 game

I suggest the PSP. The big difference between DS and PSP games is that PSP games are actually fun. I bought my PSP recently and I'm very happy with my purchase, it's by far the best handheld gaming device I've ever used. Games I recommend are Daxter, Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core and THUG2 Remix. But hey, that's my opinion and yours could differ.

the Ds basically have all genres covered. fighting racing sports RPG/strategy/RTS adventure/point and click first person shooters puzzle Rhythm based games action ect.. the ds is the ultimate gaming portable. while the compition gloating about media playback. the Ds rely on its dual touch screen, that basically simulate mouse and keyboard action in the palm of your hands. you have great first person shooter and RTS controls in the palm of your hands.

[QUOTE="2_Quiet_2_Riot"]DS = more games, variety to explore. world69star69

it may have more games but only about 12 are any good for his age...I am 30 have both and the ds has a very slim amount of games I like...ff 3 ff4, dq5, the 3 castlevanias, mazes of fate, orcs and elves, metal slug, civ , and age of empires, with maybe a few others, but the rest is just shovelware like the wii...for psp I have over 25 games and more.... games like syphon filter dark mirror and logan's shadow, these 2 games alone look better then ps2 games....medal of honor heroes, star wars renegade squadron, final fantasy tactics, crysis core, god of war, wipeout pure/pulse, twisted metal, medieval res, dungeon maker, lumines, gta lcs, gta vcs, jeanne d arc, valkeria profile lenneth, star ocean 1 and 2, socom fire team bravos, socom tactical, mega man powered up, killzone liberation, streetfighter alpha max 3, burnout legends, ohhh yeah you got the ps1 library on psp too!!! and some remote play ps3 games and movies, music and video....

the psp with its 333mhz processor 64mb ram and high res 440x240 res widescreen, is the way to go...plus you get internet, internet radio, skype, and a whole slew of unmentionalbe stuff.(can't speak of.) really all the ds has is a few games and pictochat which isn't useful as you have to be in range of someone with a ds, and at that point you can just talk ....(would of been cool if it was internet chat...could replace text messaging! but no nintendo doesn't like online, why? The ds like the wii are mainly targeted at kids, parenets don't want their kids talking to people online) .... PSP is targeting older teens and adults....you can;t go wrong with a psp!

WOW... Way to generalize and stereotype, there, buddy! Way to sound like a graphics-whore, too, because EVERYONE knows that since the PSP has better technical specs, it MUST be the better system; forget about declining dev support and the glut of PS2 rehashes and spinoffs that dominate the PSP's library (see? I can do it too), IT'S GOT BETTER GRAPHICS AND CAN PLAY MOVIES!!

I'm 30 as well, and I must be a complete aberration because I own both a Wii and DS and think they're both amazing. You say you're into FF Tactics, so why wouldn't you like the Advance Wars or Fire Emblem games??? There's ALOT to like about the DS, and IMO it's the clear choice between the 2, so it's too bad you have such a closed-minded view.

[QUOTE="KungfuKitten"][QUOTE="In-Flamez"]PSP- Patapon 1/2, Locoroco 1/2, Dissidia: Final Fantasy, FF7 Crisis Core, FF13 Agito, Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters ( fun multiplayer), Burnout Dominator/Legends, Symphon filter: Dark Mirror/ Logans shadow, Tekken 5: Dark restruction: God of War: COO, Resistance: Retribution,Multimedia functinality, better online experience, and more... DS: Mario Kart ds, Super mario 64 ds, New super mario bros, The World Ends with you, Pokemon games, Animal crossing, Wild world, Moon, GBA slot, and more... PSP first. Than DS.world69star69
Nice try.

The psp has ps2 ports, and so much more added value...music, movies, photo, internet, remote play, radio, skype, game sharing, ps1 play... all the ds has ia few good games that play on nostalgia and pictochat -- which is pointless unless your a little kid, as it's not internet enabled.

Fixed this one up for ya!

IT PLAYS GAMES! That's pretty much the only feature you need from a game system.

he basically prove he knows nothing what so ever about the DS. saying the DS is targeted to mainly kids and parents isnt whats reflected in the DS libary. if anything the ds titles are targeted to hardcore/old school gamers, if anything. the ones who get and understand the Ds are the ones who been gaming for a very long time.

If you look at the actual libraries, they're pretty equal. Either one can be worth your while, although I've found better games for my PSP than for my DS.

The DS is getting a new KH and FF also so I don't know how that is relevant. But if it is for RPGs I say DS.
