Now despite the 360's early lead it hasn't really sold to many more people than original Xbox owners and hasn't really taked much of a lead with the Wii catching up fast in America and already caught up in the rest of the world. The PS3 on the other hand is still lagging behind but still closing the gap, specially everywhere but America the PS3 is selling strong. Though if Sony keeps their exclusives for 2008 and the major big titles do well and wern't let downs like the so called big titles for 2007 then i reckon by 2009 the PS3 will be selling like hotcakes and taken over the 360. With things like Home coming aswel and brining achievements i think that will satisfy the people who bought a 360 for that... however obviously the fanbois will still not buy one no matter what.

The thing is most people still havn't bought a new system yet and sitting on the fence until the big games come out. What really suprises me is how everyone i know owns a Wii and says how great it is but yet they only have the one game it came with. So even though the Wii is selling like mad i really don't think the sales figures in terms of games will look anywhere near as good as what the 360 and PS3 willl have in 2008.

The problem witht he 360 is they have a great start but failed to keep it up and losing potential exclusive titles that Bioware and others could have offered, as i doubt EA will want Bioware making exclusives for the amount they paid for them. The lineup for 2008+ is looking really poor for the 360 and Microsoft really need to work on their first party more because right now Nintendo and Sony's are looking much much stronger.

By 2011 however i expect it to look like this...

1. PS3
2. Wii
3. 360

The PS3 i reckon will come on top finally again but it will be sooo much closer than last generation and this will give Nintendo and Microsoft far more power to do something next generation. Even though Sony will eventually win i think this generation has been great for Nintendo and Microsoft but so far really bad for Sony and they'll have lost alot of market share by the end.

(I don't own any console btw so don't call me fanboi)

First and foremost, the Wii will most likely win this gens console war. Second it will be a close race for both 360 and PS3. Last week the PS3 sold around 10,000 more units worldwide then did the 360, at that rate the PS3 will still be behind the 360 by 2009. Not only that but We have nearly 4 more years in this gens console war. 2008 is either going to belong to the Wii or PS3 most likely, but no one has any idea what 2009, 2010, 0r even 2011 will bring for any of these consoles. All I'm saying is that I think the gap will get smaller this year but from what I've seen I think the PS3 will still be behind 1.5mil to 4mil units behind the 360 come 2009.

But my current GUESS for who will win this gens console wars are:

1.Wii

2.360

3.PS3

I just don't see what big of a lead that the 360 built up and i think with all the exclusives coming out for the PS3 and all the people on the middle ground waiting that they'll go to the PS3.

GTA4 being on the 360 aswel though is it's saving grace cause if that was a PS3 only title then it really would be non contest.

If that were true maybe but as we all know GTA4 is a multiplat game. Even with MGS4 and IF Tekken 6, Killzone 2, ad GT5 even come out in 08 none of these games have big enough following to boost the PS3 up from 6mil units behind the 360. I think that the sooner PS3 drops its price around $300 that it may having a fighting chance of taking second place, but we will see.

What are you trying to say? Those games are going to magically increase PS3 sale numbers? Like I said none of those are system sellers .. 360 Had Halo I doubt any of those will come close to it's sales and as far an overall library 360 is much better then the PS3 .. so 4 games does not justify instant purchase of a $400 console.

Edit: On second thought those 4 games might indeed be system sellers once all 4 are out that is :P

Then i go to hell

it's impossible for PS3 to catch up in sales before 2009. the'd have to sell an insane amount of consoles each month while the 360 would have to sell no consoles at all.. even if PS3 could still win this gen in sales, it won't be before 2009...

If the PS3 ever takes over the 360 in sales, then don't expect a huge margin.

Magic? No. See, this is how it happens. These games are only available on Ps3 and are the most popular games in their respective genres. So naturally, people want to play these games and will therefore buya Ps3 to do so. Whether you like it or not, those games are huge system sellers. Just because you say they aren't, doesn't mean you are right.

X_Evo

Those games have NEVER been system seller, Go on and prove me wrong.

You're the one making ridiculous claims champ.

Hardly .. Look at the sales I will admit out of the 4 you named GT series are the only one that could be considered a system seller.

Who is this guy> He calls mgs and ff series not system sellers. EVEN WORSE. He calls Gran Turismo a non-system seller and it is the best selling racing game franchise of all time. He must be a REAL fanboy.

Edit: Gran Turismo I could call a system seller that is the only one

Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy XII, Metal Gear Solid 3, Gran Turismo and Kingdom Hearts are all in the PS2 top 10 selling games of last gen. Saying Final Fantasy, MGS etc. arent system sellers is like saying Super Smash Bros Melee wasnt a system seller for the GC or Super Mario sunshin... Do I need to remind you that MGS3 sold 7millions, and FFX something in that range also.

If you look at sales each FF game since 7 sales went down,MGS 3 did worst then MGS 2, oh and PS2 had 100+ million systems sold.. gee.. yea those games must be system sellers.

Also to the fanboy with the snake avatar I said GT is a system seller might want to re-read my post.

Edit: Why in gods name did you name Kingdom Hearts? what does that have to do with the games that were listed or the PS3 in general?

Dont bring th Ps2 numbers it doesnt have anything to do with it, GTA SA sold 12 millions, but it equals to only 10% of the PS2 sales, does it make less of a system seller. it sold a fraking 12 millions. Now back on track look at this link:

http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=29985 Notice the Top 10 selling games, Excpect for Gran Theft Auto, the only franchise we have are the ones I magically said before, FF, KH, GT and MGS... Now saying that those franchise aint system sellers even though they belong in the top 10 best selling PS2 games is foolish.

Now for you Final Fantasy Argument, first off take out FFXI it doesnt count no matter the sales, 100 000 or 10 millions. Secondly FF12 sold around 4 millions by the end of 2007. But do remember this, FF12 came out in North America end 2006, and in Europe March 2007. Talking about small sales is folish, because in the same time period FFXII will have as much of sales unit as FFX. And Finally Back on topic, excpect for Halo 3, what other xbox exclusive games will sell more or around 4 millions. Can you name them. (Sorry my question mark aint working on this stupid keyboard)

Because there is a high chance of Kingdom Hearts 3 comming to the PS3 maybe. Thats why I named it, its not 100% sure, but it still got a good chance.

If you honestly belive these games are system sellers then  .. well hmm on second thought FFX could be considered a system seller as it came out in PS2 first year. Don't see why you brought up GTA when it is coming out on the 360 as well and I never said it was not a system seller.

1.Wii

2.360

3.PS3

haris12121212

I just don't see what big of a lead that the 360 built up and i think with all the exclusives coming out for the PS3 and all the people on the middle ground waiting that they'll go to the PS3.

GTA4 being on the 360 aswel though is it's saving grace cause if that was a PS3 only title then it really would be non contest.

Most of these "big" games coming out on the PS3 are not system sellers.

My guess will be.

1. Wii

2. 360

3. PS3[close to the 360]

Resistance 2, Final Fantasy 13, Metal Gear Solid 4, Gran Turismo 4 arent system sellers... And those are all exclusives games... And out of those 4, 3 are 4 million + selling franchises. Name 3 games comming for the Xbox 360 that are exclusives and have a chance of selling more than 3-4million units. I can only name Gears of War 2.

That was on a console with a 100+ million userbase; MGS 3 didn't even reach 4 million; why would the sequel automatically reach such high numbers on a console with 10 million userbase and such a low attach rate? I can see FFXIII and GT4 selling such high numbers though...but the others..no.

As for potential Xbox 360 games reaching numbers of 3-4 million; I'll add another two for you; Fable 2 the new Banjoo game. I think Fable 1 was the best selling stand alone game just after Halo on the original Xbox. It sold about 2 million. Take into account that there are already several millionsellers on the Xbox 360 that aren't even established franchises and the fact that Fable actually is an established franchise.

As for Banjoo; another established franchise there as well. Add the Rare fans, the Banjoo fans and the fact that even PDZ sold over a million copies and Banjoo as a million seller suddenly becomes a realistic measure.

I meant MGS 2 not MGS 3, but anyways. The games you named, Fable and Banjoo, wont surpass the games I named in sales. And as for 100 million+ PS2 sales, dont bring it up please, sales are sales you cant excpect 50 million Final Fantasy Sales just because the PS2 sold 120 million units. Final Fantasy is the 4th best selling franchise in video gaming history. MGS 2 sold 7 million units how can it not be a system seller...

I am sorry FF12/MGS3 were hyped to kingdom come and they didn't even go near their predecessors numbers, And I didn't ignore you question .. I simply didn't need to answer it as 360 has a better library already out then PS3 plus it is getting GTA4 and DMC4 which wont hinder it's sales from the PS3 as they both will have them, Like you mentioned GTA series were the top selling games on the PS2.

Wii will definitely be on top and PS3 and X360 will probably be close. I'm thinking that most people who wanted a X360 already bought one (with 2007's lineup, who wouldn't). I know a lot more people are waiting to buy a PS3 when the games start releasing this year. I hear almost no instances where people are still waiting to buy an X360 because they are waiting for games to come out. This could be a slight indication of a big sales increase for the PS3 this year but it is all speculation for now.

FFX sales are over a 6 year period. FF12 sales are over a 2 year period in japan, 1 year and a few month here and not even 1 year in Europe... You cant excpect it to match FFX sales in so few years  And you see you refuse to admit it. You started the whole thing about sales, we arent arguing better library quality, we are arguing who ahs better system sellers, and Ps3 has it hands down.

100+ million userbase; MGS 3 didn't even reach 4 million; why would the sequel automatically reach such high numbers on a console with 10 million userbase and such a low attach rate? I can see FFXIII and GT4 selling such high numbers though...but the others..no.

I'll add another two for you; Fable 2 the new Banjoo game. I think Fable 1 was the best selling stand alone game just after Halo on the original Xbox. Take into account that there are already several millionsellers on the Xbox 360 that aren't even established franchises and the fact that Fable actually is an established franchise.

As for Banjoo; another established franchise there as well. Add the Rare fans, the Banjoo fans and the fact that even PDZ sold over a million copies and Banjoo as a million seller suddenly becomes a realistic measure.

haris12121212

I meant MGS 2 not MGS 3, but anyways. The games you named, Fable and Banjoo, wont surpass the games I named in sales. And as for 100 million+ PS2 sales, dont bring it up please, sales are sales you cant excpect 50 million Final Fantasy Sales just because the PS2 sold 120 million units. Final Fantasy is the 4th best selling franchise in video gaming history. MGS 2 sold 7 million units how can it not be a system seller...

Yes I will bring up the PS2 sales, because it effectively reveals the potential attach rate for sequels of the games; stop trying to wriggle yourself out of that fact.

MGS 2, of course you'd bring that up but ignore the fact that the sequel barely sold half of that despite the increasing user base...

MGS has never been a system seller in the same sense as the Halo-franchise or Grand Theft Auto. It's a niche game in comparision and I just don't see MGS 4 touching the 4 million barrier when MGS 3 couldn't even touch it when there were over 100 million potential buyers out there.

(Sorry my question mark aint working on this stupid keyboard)

haris12121212

If you honestly belive these games are system sellers then  well hmm on second thought FFX could be considered a system seller as it came out in PS2 first year. Don't see why you brought up GTA when it is coming out on the 360 aswell and I never said it was not a system seller.

Final Fantasy X 5 million

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater 3.7 million

Final Fantasy XII 3.68 million

I stop, arguing with you is like talking to a wall. Nice ignoring my FF12 part explaining its sales. And Nice ignoring the fact that MGS 2 sold 7 millions. And yeah also, nice ignoring my question that asked you to name those Xbox exclusives that are bigger system sellers than MGS, FF, GT other than Halo franchise.

Ignoring what facts? MG2 sold 7 million I think I posted back somewhere about MG2 selling WAY more then MG3 doesn't that mean something?. I am sorry FF12 was hyped to kingdom come and it didn't even reach FFX numbers, And I didn't ignore you question .. I simply didn't need to answer it as 360 has a better library already out then PS3 plus it is getting GTA4 and DMC4 which wont hinder it's sales from the PS3 as they both will have them, Like you mentioned GTA series were the top selling games on the PS2.

No this started as a PS3 is going to surpass 360 argument .. I simply stated it wont happen with those "system sellers" as you like to call them. Anyway I doubt PS2 will last long enough for FF12 to pass FFX or for MGS3 to get anywhere near MGS2. And if you look at the history of these "system sellers" you would see each sequel is doing much worst in sales then it's predecessor it's a fact. Those games will not be system sellers.

Seriously this is none sense, The DS will reach the 100 million mark without any trouble, does this make NSMB a poor system seller even though it sold 10 millions units. And how do you explain this then, Super Mario games, their normal sales are around 10 millions right... Yup. Now Last Gen Super Mario Sunshin only sold 5 millions a huge drop. And yet Super Mario Galaxy is bound to sell 10 millions like it did before. If a sequel sells bad it doesnt mean the next game will sell bad come on people. And thirdly I never said FF or MGS were as high of a system seller as Halo. But they are system sellers none the less. You cant deny that fact.

10 million of 100 million = 10% which is not bad, 3.5 millon out of 100million .. do I need to go on?

Edit: Notice you turned me into a sig .. funny part is I am right about that

Really depends on how many units it pushes, and GT3 and GTA 3 were the driving forcse of the huge boost for PS2 sales in 2001 rather than MGS 2 considering both aforementioned franchises sold almost TWICE as many copies :|

Yes, GTA and GT made the Ps2 where it is today, and I never denied it. But you cant say that MGS 2 wasnt a system seller, it still sold 7 million units. And is in the top 10 best selling games on the PS2. The difference here is that Halo, GTA, GT,Mario are HUGE system sellers But games like, Super Smas Bros, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, Kingdom Hearts, even if they dont achieve 10 million unit sold mark, are still system sellers, its not every game that manages to sell over 3 million units, and there are even less that manage to sell over 5 million units.

Why do you keep bringing MGS2 up? Yea it sold 7 million we got that but look at MGS3 which barely reached half that.
