That was the only game in the world to put System Wars in a Depression state for an extremely long time compared to normal...wtf...lair doesnt even come close to what I witnessed then.

Because while TP was a small flop, it was still a great game. Lair was a huge flop and a horrible game.

I think people have actually forgotten how much that game was hyped. It was supposed to be the thing to cure cancer and the first AAAA game to come along for a long time. It was supposed to be game of the century, turn water into wine and discover the meaning of life.

Jeff took a beating for that score and so did GS. People say sheep are well behaved well they're the most pleasant fanboys until you say one of their games suck or it flops.They win most rabid fanboys for me.

(For the record I love Zelda and loved TP just happen to agree it was over-hyped and didn't deliver)

Yes, but the TP score ravaged through System Wars, Nintendo fanboys were falling out of the sky spewing nonsense over this rating, something that I've yet to see happen again to any other game that flops(didnt see mario sunshine though).

Yes, but the TP score ravaged through System Wars, Nintendo fanboys were falling out of the sky spewing nonsense over this rating, something that I've yet to see happen again to any other game that flops(didnt see mario sunshine though).

Killzone. I remember thinking that it could possibly be better than Halo. And then it was released. Lair I sort of knew it wasn't gonna be fun I just think it was gonna be that bad.

Resistance, NG2, and ME... if they are mentioned then so should Heavenly Sword and Shadowrun, they only barely missed the mark. In honesty none of these games should be mentioned. Or TP.

I can see why some would vote TP though. The day it happened was just unlike any other day on SW.

All those games are actually rather good, except Lair, and Red Steel.

My vote goes to Lair.

But yea, the_very_best nailed it.

Of all time, Lair scorewise.

And in my time on Gamespot, I have never seen anything bigger than TP, I was part of that hate, now I feel embarrased about what I said but now I look back on it and wish SW could be that crazy every day.... fun times.

You must not understand SW.

Mass Effect is considered a flop because there were a LOT of people hyping it as AAA and it didn't get AAA. It has nothing to do with sales.

Also, AC wasn't a flop. It scored AAA here on GS.

Anyway, my vote is for Red Steel. The sheep were hyping is so hard it was ridiculous. I had high hopes myself - it just seemed like such a good idea...

I would say R&C was a big flop too as it caused a storm.

Biggest flops to choose from I'd say a decent list would be:

Doom 3, Brute Force, Killzone, Lair, Haze, Red Steel, TP (becuase of reaction).

There are plenty of flops but I reckon those are the big ones.

EDIT don't remember if anyone actually hyped shadowrun, but i do remember it got a TON of hate from those who'd played the paper game/read the books.

How can you even put NG2 in there with games like Haze and Lair. NG was high end AA. It may have flopped to fanboys, but it didn't even flop it's still a great game. Unlike Haze and Lair, which are just brutal.Mau-Justice

1) Zelda TP: hyped as the best game ever. period. When it got 8.8, the sheep literally sent death threats to the reviewer.

2) Killzone: halo killer. failed

3) Blinx the Time sweeper: hyped as mario killer. Failed.

4) Fable: hyped as best rog ever. failed.

5) Doom 3: hyped as best shooter ever, failed, and the hermit faction had to leave systemwars due to a ban bet.
