The average Joe who are gaming on PC and are'nt sitting here and bragging of how great PC gaming is at 8000x8000 res with 80xAA, is probably using a PC or laptop with those kind of specs or worse, which means PC gaming will probably get lower gamesales when the PS4 arrives and multiplats gets more demanding.

Bebi_vegeta

Yes PC will stop evolving from now on.

That's not what I ment. But the average PC out there will struggle with multiplats when the PS4 arrives. The PC sales will go up again when the average Joe moves on from the 560TI or worse, and buy a PC that can handle multiplats. I'm just saying PC game sales will go down at the start of the next gen, and it would be worse if the PS4 was more powerfull.

I don't have it yet. Not until I finish playing Crysis 3 with No HUD. Besides, TressFX is optional, not mandatory. Not having TressFX on will not affect my enjoyment of a game. If TressFX is required to play Tomb Raider, then you have a point.

tormentos

On my 560 tomb raider with tressfx runs fine in most cases until you start fighting waves of those crazy cult people. But really tressfx in many ways is not even realistic and hair reacts way to dramatically with very little action done to move the hair. There's clipping issues with the hair, and seems very unnatural the way the hair reacts in general. So its not a big loss with not having tressfx on. And when Nvidia and the dev patch the issues you will see major improvements.

 Another one.... No wonder you are such a sour grape about the PS4 it out class your PC.. 560TI you are part of Steam under power stats..

Your the one butthurt since you have to live with the POS PS3

I havent upgraded anything my pc in nearly two years all I would need to do is spend $300 then I will be kicking the PS4 in balls. believe it or not a gtx 560ti is on par with a 7850.

thats still cheaper then buying another $400+ console

Well, not everyone have an upgradable PC. Most people that play games on PC uses a cheap laptop or they are'nt able to upgrade they're PC. They probably bought it cheap, and it can luckily play games. Which is one of the reasons they will probably get a PS4 or a X720. And even though the 560TI is on par with the specs of the GPU in the PS4, it won't be on par in real life. The PS4, with it's fixed hardware that has more available resourses for the game, will outshine a similar or higher spec PC, especially if the game is made to utilize it.

[QUOTE="tormentos"] Developers have stated many times that you can never have enough ram, don't pay attention to some Hermits they are just sour grapes about the PS4 scenario, and since most of them have 560TI and integrated intel graphics they get mad..:lol:tormentos

What's wrong with the GTX 560 Ti? It plays at 1080p just fine.

See i rest my case..

What's so sourgrapes about my question? Why the reference to the 560 Ti. You're making it sound like it's a crippling handicap or something.

Edit:

If you think that way, then you might want to consider that the only comparison that can be made right now to the 560 Ti is the current-gen consoles. You don't have a PS4. I don't have a PS4.

I do believe that PS4 memory is a single pool of storage for everything, including the OS and other processes. I can see why it's so big.

Wasdie

Exactly. Remeber, the PS4 is also doing in-game video recording on a dedicated video encoding chip (to save CPU), so that will suck up a good chunk of that 8 gigs of RAM.

I imagine that most games will have like 4-5 gigs allocated to them. This is more than enough really. Even Planetside 2 runs with 3ish gigs of RAM total (about 2 gigs for system ram, 1 gig for vRAM).

Recording and encoding takes little ram, the only time you need large buffers is because of bottlenecks, but the system should be balanced so they don't pile up frames in a buffer. Eventually the images coming in have to be pushed to an hdd at the same rate.

Funny guy that GPU is 16 months old,and when the PS4 hit another $300 would mean that you spend $600 dollars for graphics that $200 more than the PS4 would probably cost.. $300 let alone is almost what the PS4 cost alone.. http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/549?vs=547 On par...

Is not that is cripple is actually a good GPU. But most people by steam stats have 560Ti,550Ti and integrated graphics, since the arguments here and in many other places is that PC are so powerful and that the PS4 is under power,is just basically silly that most gamers on Steam actually have hardware under power vs the PS4. People like 04dcarraher are the biggest joke such a strong damage control and all is because his PC us under power vs the PS4.

I'll stay from the damage control part since I'm quite sure the PS4 has a stronger GPU than the one in my PC. I'm not sure about the PS4's CPU yet. But, I am intrigued with the thought of all 8 cores working hard even at a lower clock speed. That one I'm keeping a close eye on.

You have to remember though that participation in Steam's Hardware Survey is completely optional. I've never participated in it ever and I'm sure there are many PC gamers like me who have no interest in such things. I keep Steam online just long enough to buy a game or get an update and then it's back offline. The Steam Hardware Survey is a good measurement for those who participated. But, we don't really know how accurate it is.

That's like here in Gamespot. I know quite a few flight simmers and they all have very godly PCs. But, you'll never see them here (at GS) because they don't consider the genre as "gaming." To them, it's a serious "hobby." I shake my head at that thought. I just go along with them rather than argue semantics. But, you get the idea. I believe the Steam Hardware Survey may not be representing some segments accurately.

The CPU on the PS4 doesn't have to be a i7 Don't worry. Yes is optional but look at your PC even if you would have voted what do you have.? Yeah a 560Ti so basically you would help the majority now been an even bigger one, even if is just by one,so would him if he hasn't take the survey.

your such a fool about hardware. I got my card on sale for $180 and can play current games near max or maxed with 2x the resolution of the current consoles. Go cry some more

you have no idea.....  5% difference thats on par..... and the fact the card is only on average is 15% slower then 7870 is funny since the PS4 gpu is slower then a 7870.

Seems unlikely that the Steam survey would under-represent the PC enthusiasts, never been known as a group for shying away from posting their PC specs at every available opportunity.

Steam is an incredibly massive and varied sample size. Even if only a small percentage of PC gamers have strong PCs, it is still a crapton of people.  Even if only 6% have PCs with GPUs stronger than a 7850, that is still 3.4 million people, and will only grow as time goes on.

There's more non enthusiasts games on Steam then anything else.

Who expects consoles to keep up with computers? What's the purpose of this thread? Computers are upgradeable, consoles are not. We get it.
