The Rift seems to be getting a lot of nose turning too from gamers which I can't understand for the life of me. We as gamers play games to get lost in other worlds, and the Rift essentially tries to do that but I've seen some people just be like "lol stupid gimmick" and others wanting it to fail.

Then again there are still plenty who see its greatness. I'd have one already if the wait wasn't so damn long

Yeah, that's true, but I'd say there are far more gamers excited for it than there are naysayers. And those are mostly people who haven't tried it. Almost everybody who tries it is blown away and extremely excited for it.

I think a lot of people feel threatened by a piece of technology like this. Some are afraid of change and they lack the vision to imagine how it can actually make things better and that it doesn't really threaten what they already love. Then there are a certain segment of gamers that are attacking it simply because they are console fanboys and the Rift is coming for PC.

How am I attacking it? I just asked what's so great about it. I don't follow these kind of things, so I don't know how this works. And I think we console fanboys don't need this worthless gadget. Well I don't need it.

So you asked how you are attacking it. Well, for starters, you claim to not know anything about it and then call it a worthless gadget in your next breath.

People seem to be hyped about it, telling it's the future tech. But what's so amazing about it? Virtual Boy was practically the same, and it failed. Why would this succeed?

Put a virtual reality headset on and be able to play Skyrim.. pretty awesome stuff. Its also sure to be expensive and doubt many will buy it. It's great in theory, not so good in practical sense. Virtual Reality keeps trying but keeps failing.

There hasn't been many attempts, and certainly nothing remotely close to what Oculus is bringing to the table. In fact, the only attempt at bringing VR to mainstream gamers was the Virtual Boy, and the reason it failed was simply because the technology wasn't there yet. Well, the technology has finally advanced enough to fulfill the VR vision.

The consumer model of the Oculus Rift should be around $300 according to comments made by the Oculus guys. That's how much the current dev kit costs and that is how much they are aiming for for the consumer model.

Don't forget the Power Glove, R.O.B the Robot, Power Pad and might as well throw the WiiU in there too.
