can anything beat zelda botw for game of the year?

@metalslimenite: I am currently playing through the first game on the New 3DS. The low resolution screen and general performance of the system really don't compliment the size of a game like Xenoblade Chronicles. I don't know how the textures fair on the Wii but they are rather unattractive on 3DS.

All the same, I'm enjoying the game and I'm definitely going to play through Xenoblade Chronicles X and 2.

I'd say it's almost locked down at this point. Whether it ends up truly being the best game of the year or not, it's impact on open worlds and the formula of adventure games is going to be incredibly significant.

In the same sense, Gears of War was a clear GOTY whether it was best of that year or not (it was, but to be fair 2006 sucked), because Gears brought huge change to the way people make third person shooters.

Well, it IS a Rockstar game, so that's kind of a given...

And yet people are mentioning that too.

At some point you have to basically take things as given or you're going to get nowhere.

People think that all the reviewers out there will change their mind and not think BOtW is not the best game ever all of a sudden? BOtW will get game of the year. Then my prediction for runners up are a bunch of games that aren't even out yet. Mario Oddesy being a top condendor.

I dont own a Switch and wont be buying one either but I finished BOTW on a friends Switch, the game is very good and brimming with the quality you expect from Nintendo games. Its not 10/10 IMO but its fairly close. I dont expect to enjoy another game as much this year.

I don't see any other game getting GOTY. That said, I'm sure there will be other great games out this year. If something does come out that's even better is a Victory for us gamers! Seriously, even just the same level as Zelda is amust have, let alone something possibly better

I still find something new in Zelda every day. Best game ever.

I'd be surprised if Mario Odyssey isn't better than Breath of the Wild, honestly.
