Besides Exclusive games, which is the only good reason to own a console of course, people buy the software and not the hardware (Bill Gates found this out first)
is there anything they can do better? at all?

You answered your own question. That's all that matters... but technically, PCs are timeless and eventually play all games... but the legality behind it is put into question.
.. Sure they can.. They have local split screen multiplayer. Are far more plug and play with no real threat of errors..sSubZerOoPc has split screen mp and the only console that's plug n play this gen is wii.

Please point out the lists.. I am a pc gamer primarily and I can state there is literally no games out tehre that is split screen outside of indie games or other such things.. I can think of maybe the hot seat functions in Heroes of Might and Magic 5 and Total War Empire.. And no yet again consoles are plug play.. there maybe a 5 minute wait for installation but it is more or less guarenteed your system will run the game well.

all right actually, see i can play that game too, its easy peasy !!!!
in fact I have added two more for you to frivolously disregard
Accessibility? You're likely on some kind of PC right now. Optimization? Lol.. that is up to the developer, pretty much all top games are optimized very well for PC. Split Screen you can have. Social Gaming is lol no, if you wana talk social gaming, **** like facebook games are the most social, millions of "social' gamers playing them, only on PC. Scores are subjective.accessibility, optimisation of hardware, motion controls, split-screen gaming, social gaming, better exclusive games (based on average scores)

Going with this. Its the simplicity that really sells consoles to the main crowd. No need to worry about upgrades or replacing parts. Just buy the game, put in in and start playing.accessibility, optimisation of hardware, motion controls, split-screen gaming, social gaming, better exclusive games (based on average scores)

Where he is saying is you need no computer no how if a problem should occur.. A console is plug and play..

...........As a pc gamer I will have to disagree with you on that.. Even the best optimized games run into troubles due to the sheer mass of different set ups.. The computer being a open system is one of its greatest strengths as well as weaknesses.. when you put in a game you will know it will have a set level that will never be different from one system to the next.

Not everything, but a small list of local split-screen multiplayer.

Yeah its a extremely small list, many consisting of unknown games.. The point of the matter is if we are being objective, its a clear advantage set in the realm of consoles..

lol nice try
as for game scores?

when you find every single top 10 ever complied has a vast majority of console games, subjectivity is only in the eye of the butt-hurt fanboy

Are we talking about PC's in general or for gaming? In general yes a PC is better than a console because it can do thousands of things a console can't. But for gaming I stand by all the reason listed.[QUOTE="XaosII"]

not all console games can do split screen well at all
i was playing Raging blast 2 with my friend and it dropped below 15fps the whole damn fight
Centralization. Sony or MS can force all software to undergo a certification pass before allowing a release, so developers are forced to test their code or it can't ship. They can enforce technical requirements, reducing the likelihood of issues and ensuring basic features such as VoIP or gamepad support are present and working properly. They can define the network services developers can use, so you get one universal identity instead of a mishmash of Gamespy, Steamworks, or some in-house solution.lowe0
PC gamers will fix it and make it better than any patch could
see Resident evil 4 mods for a good example
Consoles have their own advantages over PC which is why it's always good to have both.abuabed

If System Wars had gamers who played everything equally, it would be a much more boring place. I actually play consoles just as much as PC, own all of them, including handhelds, play each a lot, but this ignorance towards PC gaming really bothers me.[QUOTE="mrmusicman247"]Use up less electricity? gaming laptops
I'm pretty sure PS3 slim uses less than gaming laptops. You get that warm fuzzy feeling knowing you've helped a developer stay afloat by overpaying for DLC that a PC gamer got for free (without piracy).
Didn't you answer your own question? Isn't gaming about the games? Gee, and here I thought I was TRICKED into playing consoles. All along I only THOUGHT it was about games but the reality is that it's all about comparing screenshots! Oh, and ease-of-use. It may not be important to everyone, but some people like putting in a disc and having the game work instead of waiting to download the cracked version off Torrentz because the publisher put crippling DRM on it.Besides Exclusive games,

Usually it's the ignorance toward console gaming that bothers me in SW. I find the pc oriented group to be far more ignorant when it comes down to it, but thats just me. I play on all platforms aswell (and have done since the mid nineties).
Back on topic, My consoles will sit nicely in my front room. :)

I'd say convenience and compactness are still with consoles. I also like platformers and sports games on consoles better (even on the PS2). That's why I supplement my PC gaming with the Wii, GC, and PS2.
Think about it we got cameras because they are good at taking pictures, video cameras because they are good at taking videos. On the other hand we got consoles for what? Everything a console can do a PC could do it 10 times better. Contrary to that a dedicated camera takes better pictures than a mobile phone.
But how many hilarious youtube videos are recorded on a $1,600 studio camcorder as opposed to a cell phone camera or cheap camcorder? Whether PC can really do everything "10 times better" is opinion, but the fact remains that PC-only gamers are missing out on some of the biggest videogames across nearly every genre if they ignore consoles. To be fair, the same could be said about console owners who ignore PC.Think about it we got cameras because they are good at taking pictures, video cameras because they are good at taking videos. On the other hand we got consoles for what? Everything a console can do a PC could do it 10 times better. Contrary to that a dedicated camera takes better pictures than a mobile phone.

Despite the drivel here, the PC can do EVERYTHING better.
Compactness, plug into a TV, motion controllers ... the PC has all that.
Better games, better graphics, better controls, multi-purpose, internet browsing, netflix streaming, bluray playing ....
Consoles are gimped and ancient PCs.... this is a pointless question for that fact.

The question isn't what console's have that PC doesn't, it's what can consoles do BETTER, and Split-Screen IS better on consoles.
