Of course they do. They aren't broke. It's what they should be doing. They have to make people aware of the game. If they showed an awesome trailer before the latest hot flick coming out saying "Only on the PS3" it would turn more than a few heads. The game looks great and seeing it on a large screen would be amazing..The Gears trailer looked fantastic on the big screen.

In my opinion ofc, i dont like the multiplay that much so if Killzone 2 got better singleplayer it is better:D

But i think it is more Halo fans than killzone fans no matter wich game is the best.

The series is easy to get into and has a very competent multiplayer element. That backed up by some of the most aggressive marketing I have ever seen is a pretty good formula for success. You may not like it, but a lot of people do.

Unluckily, that is never going to occur. Killzone was an ordinary game and the game that Killzone was supposed to knock out sold more within 24 hours in North America alone than Killzone has done throughout the world thus far and outscored it. The Halo series has been inordinately prosperous. The Killzone series has not. Merely gamers have knowledge of Killzone.

You should face it - the answer is no. :) Sorry.

KZ2 lacks the comprehensive MP suite Halo offers.

vehicles (air / ground), open large environments, battle forge, etc will distance the 2

doesn't help that KZ2 rips features from SP in the MP (i.e. no cover system).

(edit: personally don't like Halo3, i'm just a realist - i know it offers more than KZ2).

I doubt it will. If Killzone 2 receives unanimous acclaim from critics and an overwhelming response from buyers, the first game will always be looked at as the black mark of series.

And it terms of popularity and worldwide recognition, I don't think it will either. Master Chief has become too much of a popular culture gaming icon to suddenly be replaced by a Helghast soldier.

In a basic manner, no. Nonetheless, taking Killzone's ludicrous attempt to knock out Halo into consideration and considering that the sequel to the failure hasn't been released, it would be nonsensical to say that the Killzone series is all of a sudden going to outdistance the Halo series. But then again, these PlayStation 3 fans never seem to comprehend. :)

So, advertising their console + games just like Microsoft and Nintendo? OH MY GOD, HOW I HAVE BEEN SO BLIND TO THE HYPE! Since you're obviously talking about the Halo killer ****, it wasn't them. The game has had the same amount of hype expected of a high profile console game. Much, much, much less hype than the likes of say Halo 3.

First off, with Halo's long, successful history, you have legions of hardcore fans that would never admit anything else is better, true or not.

Second, you need to have one successful title under your belt in a series in order to start comparing it to a successful franchise with many successful titles. Wait until KZ3 or something. Then see how it stacks up.

Yes. You mean like at E32007 where the gameplay itself was revealed and EVERYONE was hyped just to see Killzone 2 either to praise it or detract from it and Sony since it'd be inevitable that it wouldn't look like the CG. And in 2008 when there was well, a new trailer.

But then again, high profile games like Gears and Halo get the same treatment. No game has had as much hype as Halo 3, so I'll ask again. What's the problem?

Of course. PlayStation 3 fans may create inordinately many Killzone 2 threads and hype it beyond endurance - games such as Grand Theft Auto IV, Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Halo 3 were still a lot more anticipated and so is StarCraft II. Killzone 2 isn't as gigantic as people want it to be.

But you know, since the first game wasn't great and despite the fact Killzone 2 looks amazing, I shouldn't go off what I've seen and instead bury my head and just hope it's a repeat of the first. Despite GG basically being a completely different development group. But I'll forget about that too.

And please, give me an example of this false hype. Because, here's an example for you. In Gears 2 we we're promised a functional MP component. It simply didn't happen. See, that's false hype when they know that they're not going to fix it at all. :)
