Of course not, PS3 has no game with huge open spaces, open thick forests with stunning foliage with weather effects too or volumetric dynamic lighting
So, from its exclusives that have all those tiny and linear worlds and still not even close to the foliage and ligting of AW i can safly say that its cant handle it it he slightest
RDR also proves that 360 is far better in open world games and next gen effects than PS3

Wait you're here now? LETS gettemYou do realize that the PS3 can play games at 720p with better texture detail, animations and scale right? Alan wake didn't even push the 360. Why wouldn't it be able to run on the ps3?

Wow epic fail much? The reason that RDR is inferior on the PS3 version its not because the console is weak, its because of the developers, they are just lazy to use all of the ps3's 7 PPE's.[QUOTE="theseekar"]

I'm with you but i wouldn't say lazy in Rockstars case. I'd say it was a time constraint. Working on the PS3 requires more focus but porting to it is much quicker so they can meet those deadlines.[QUOTE="theseekar"]

Im gonna post this hereI'm actually being serious about this.
So, I do believe the PS3 might not be able to handle Alan Wake.
aaaarrrrrggggg 'Teh PStrey cant handle teh foliage' :(
Seriously I dont see why PS3 cant handle Alan Wake, since its sub-HD and didnt see the media stating its the best looking console title or else its the largest open world title currently available on consoles...

Apparently you're not aware of a certain thread by a certain poster which has been plaguing SW recently.
The conclusion was it can't because of teh foliage.
If it was built form the ground up for the PS3 hardware, it would turn out better. So thats a yesdjsifer01
This is true, becaise usually in multiplats, because PS3's tech is soo different it's very hard to change it just for the PS3 and thats why multiplats graphics are generally worse on PS3

Some components are rendered in HD.
Alan Wake is still polished anyway, plus it has some intense lighting that we haven't even seen on any PS3 exclusive.

Its a port dude, do you know what that means? It wasnt designed to take advantage of the PS3 hardware or it would of looked better on the PS3.you can't be serious or even cereal. How many more games need to come out to show that it could run this that look even better than AW[QUOTE="spudofwar13"]

I think the standard defintion lighting actually looks very bad, kinda blured out[QUOTE="Malta_1980"]

AW is a great looking game and looking forward to play the game soon (once i finish HR & FFXIII), but i've seen the game and i honestly dont see how ppl can say it looks better than Uncharted2 & GOW3.. It does though look great and has some amazing lighting effects...
Kz2 does not use full volumetric lighting, When it does it is just static sun ray types.Volumetric lighting and smoke see KZ2...check PS3 can do that

Alan Wake, like many 360 games, actually has huge environments (not exactly open-world mainly because of story elements), which are all rendered at the same time. Plus, it really does impress with its lighting, which is rendered in HD, just like some other components of the game. PS3 exclusives are stuck with small environments and even KZ2 does not achieve the same lighting...
So, there... I ask again, can the PS3 handle Alan Wake, at least the same Alan Wake?
And how was RDR port?It was announced as ps3 exclusive,San Diego made the engine and also made one more game on ps3,im pretty sure they would find a way in 5 yrs to bring ps3 version to par.But lack of memory,RSX done their part i guess...
Just think about it,they use deferred rendering, their frame buffer is like ~20 mb so they use two tiles on Edram for that and they get left with 480mb,while on ps3 you have to use system memory for frame buffer plus 52 mb for os,which brings us to roughly 440mb.Thats ALOT of mb less...not to mention HUGE Edram bandwidth for particles, foliage and transparencies...

Except with the foliage removed! *Ba Zing*
