I will admit this .... your thread is a failure. How long has nintendo been in the handheld business now??? Over 10 years. This was sonys first try at a handheld and did a great job. Plus I think selling over 25 million units there first try against nintendo is pretty good while all other have just been dominated. I would chalk this up as a success for sony. Killfox

Unlike you.. I buy games for the Quality... Those two games are going to have a better story and probley more replay value then anything on/coming to the DS...

But, If you want great games that are out right now there is Crisis Core; Final Fantasy 7, Ratchet and Clanks: Size Matters, Burnout Legends, Grand theft Auto Liberty City Stories/ Vice City Stories, Metal Gear Solid PO, Final Fantasy Tactics the war of the Lions, God Of War... I'm sure I'm missing something, but thats what comes to mind right away...

Now Any Game that Compares to Crisis Core or God of War for the PSP is Graphics... Gameplay is PURE OPINION and in my Opinion those two games are MUCH Better then anything that I've played on the DS...

Oh and I do have a DS...

I have both and enjoy both, but the TC is right that the development support for the PSP just doesn't compare. I counted IGNs PSP future releases for 08 (dated or at least with a quarter date, no TBA) at 36 Which is less then half of the 360's and DS passes that before the end of June. Now, sure there's some gems in those 36, but I'm sure there's more gems in the larger libraries (and I'm sure more garbage too)

As far as the PSP making a dent into Nintendo's market share, that's not really a very accurate statement, or at least one that means much statistically. Nintendo effectively has had no competition since the GameGear and Lynx so they had a 100% marketshare. By definition, any competition that was released would have made a dent in their marketshare regardly of how well it did.

The only reasoning for the PSP being a success is that it has had okish hardware sales and a handful of decent exclusives. There are many reasons why it is a failure

Obviously it is not a failure for you if you enjoy those exclusive games and you don't own a PS2 to play all the multiplatform games but if you take a look at the wider picture the PSP bombed

I find it funny that people are arguing about Wii/PSP's libraries/third party support. They are both mediocre.

Sony's answer to everything is to load it with multi-media. It's getting old.

Sony stole 30% handheld market share, which is the largest amount that ANY company has taken from Nintendo. Don't forget that Sony is competing against the Nintendo DS - the best selling handheld. If the PSP was competing against GBA version 2 (instead of an innovative handheld with touch screen), then the PSP would dominate for sure.

Really, when I put it like that, which do you think would sell more? I got a hint. Look at last gen consoles. DS would be nowhere without the innovation that came with the touch screen. It's a good thing that Nintendo step up and created something new instead of rehashing the same boring concepts over again. I hope Sony learns something from Nintendo and does something innovative for the PSP2 or we're gonna see DS-style dominance x10 next handheld gen.

Sony won't do anything innovative. They'll just load it with new multi-media features.

I really don't understand how the DS would have been a failure without the touchscreen. Have they ever made a handheld that wasn't successful? I'm not saying its impossible, but unlikely.

WEll, for those of us who like playing traditional games on the move it has several titles going for it.

Psp has more games that scored higher than 8.0 and 7.0 than the DS on ign and gamespot, that means a whole bunch of shovelware doesn't it.

Monster Hunter Freedom 2G has been in first and second since it came out. Since it came the psp has been the bestselling hardware in Japan. Japan is know for its love of Nintendo.

Sony is thinking about the long term not just the short term, the whole thing is about business and what consumers want. Ipod was pretty sucesful, add video, make it smaller, and do a bunch of other stuff and it became huge.

Sony started with that and thats why there going so slow but then as more technology is available they'll be able to do more.

Does the DS have the hardware to port console games onto it. I play my psp alot more then my ds.
