I think the PS3 is doing well in recovering their image. They will be remembered as last place this gen, but at least they will have a good image going into the next gen.Willy105

the gens not over and 5 million lead is not a tall lead with another ps3 price drop to $199 that lead will be gone in a heart beat.

I believe the ps3 will go to second place it wont take the wii but 360 is a given.

Worldwide, it actually is. Had PS3 and 360 came out at the same time, this would be way more apparent. 360 had a 9 million lead, PS3 has that down to less than 5 million now. I expect PS3 to outsell 360 completely by this time next year, especially considering GT5 is coming out

yea wii is winning I own a wii too but I personally don't feel like a winner having that system although occasionally I go back to it unlike my ps3 the wii is usually collecting dust.

Sony just didn't gauge the market correctly, and Toshiba and Microsoft pumping money into HD-DVD certainly didn't help matters.

PS2 offered the consumer a gaming console and a DVD player for the same price as a DVD player, when the PS2 came out there was little doubt that DVD was the way that movie formating was going, with the PS3 however...

While many could have looked at the landscape and assumed Blu-Ray may win out, the reality is that the average consumer was not going to make a 600 dollar leap of faith on something that could be the next beta max player.

Sony has never been a prostar when it comes to having a strong gaming launch; and PS3 was not different. You had an expensive console that was light on games tacked onto an expensive Blu-Ray player that may or may not be the future.

And that dogged them for a while.

They should have gone heavy into games early;
