so now that Masachika Kawata and other developers from capcom openly admit that resident evil umbrella chronicles had to be made easier due to the wiimotes limitations.....does that give anyone pause as the the legitimacy of the wii as a "gamers system" ??

"Kawata says that during the initial stages of development, Umbrella Chronicles was similar to RE 4, but that play system was too complicated for the hardware and its customers. Capcom had to make the game easier because Wii users like things simple"

first were told it was designed with our "moms" in mind....

almost 95 % of the games are either bad and simplified ports of last gen games, or warioware style games.

now you can argue this all you want....but the nintendo curse is rearing its ugly head. the Wii shot out the gate thats for sure.....but so did the gamecube and the n64, the Wii has a large percentage of ports....just like the GC and n64....

Alot of systems have ports. Wake up. Not just Nintendo. 360 has port of the PC, the PS3 has ports of the 360, the PSP has ports of the PS2. So whats your point.

When it boils down to it, only the most talent companies can make Wii games work. Just ask Retro Studios.  Nintendo should have bought Retro Studious insteat of that company that is or was affiliated with Namco...tocool340

Don't they already basically own retro as it is?

One could have said the same thing for RARE. Look how that turned out. Retro Studios is still a second-party company the same way RARE was.....

i seen on the tv that for wii versions of games they just use the pc controlls and use a wiimote over the key board and mouse and it caused problems...

that to me says how bad and how much of a gimmick the wiimote actualy is!

kittykatz5k

A developer being lazy on reprogramming controls tells you how much of a gimmik it is? Damn what eyes are you looking through?

if it was so revolutionary it would have its own control scheme insted of using another and badly trying to incorporate it as its own!

that tells me how much of a gimmick it is ok....

If the develoeprs were any good, they would have desined their own control scheme, not left it lazily as a port. There is actually a control scheem that works quite well, I've heard of it at least, that uses nunchuku to move and look leaving hte wiimote as a free moving gun.

and a keyboard and mouse does things differently ??

the fact is the wiimote is a keyboard mouse in a different package.....

and its all good blaming devs but they still have to work with what is infront of them..seems that's all people do when some element of a game turns out poor.......blame the dev team...................

They're not saying its a controller fault, they're saying its the fault of the person wielding it. Nintendo's non-gamer attitude means the core audience will likely be alienated by such complexity real gamers have enjoyed lately. Thats what they're thinking.

I hate Nintendo for this in a way, its bringing down the industry for hardcore gamers. But then again I keep reminding myself I got one as a breath of fresh air, thank god platforms like the 360 will still be around. I look forward to RE:UC as well it looks cool in an arcadey way.

I think this is complete bulls***.  I am an adult who bought the Wii and was looking for to Chronicles until Capcom butchered it.  First off, they are making assumptions about what the wii audience wants.  That is completely stupid.  The Wii audience want games and a wide assortment of games.  What makes Capcom think that the wii audience doesn't want a real RE game and instead would rather play a crappy RE shooting game?  Seriously.  This is especially idiotic considering the SIMPLE FACT THAT CAPCOM IS BRINGING RE4 TO THE WII.   So Capcom is basically saying the Wii audience doesn't want a real RE game...but that they are going to spend money bringing RE4 to the wii.  Does that make any sense to anyone?

Honeslty, I think Capcom was full of crap from the begining.  I don't think they ever were planning on making a real RE:Chronicles game and when people were outraged at the final product they started making excuses.

I'm sorry, but their excuses simply don't add up.  ONce more...if they don't think the audience wants a real RE game then why are they bothering porting RE4 with Wii controls?

So, RE4 is too complicated for the Wii?  :?

I think Capcom might be sending mixed signals here.

Uh, no, Nintendo owns 100% of Retro Studio's stocks, so therefore, Retro Studios is first party as well. Rare is also a 1st party developers as well.

RE4 is too complicated for the Wii, but gets a port just the same.

Weak.Â
