Carolyn Petit to review GTA 5

Just a guess...

because they usually assign games to the staff members most interested in or experienced with the genre.  For example, McShea with platformers or VanOrd with rpgs and shooters.

Carolyn gets almost all of the open-world games like Sleeping Dogs and Saints Row 4 and the Rockstar games like LA Noire and Max Payne 3, so I suspect she might get GTA V.  Unless someone with more clout at GS opts to review it.

I don't see a big game like GTAV being reviewed by a freelance though.

I suspect Carolyn will give GTA5 a 9 or a 10.  And no, she won't give it a 7 because it's sexist.

honestly i'm tired of all the attacks on Petit, most of which are total crap.  if she doesn't give a game a score you wanted, then it's all to easy to say that she deducted points off because she didn't like how women were portrayed rather than actual gameplay mechanic itself

i'm 90% sure kevin will get assassin's creed iv.  even before the scale change, 9 was his standard rating for game he loved.  hes been extra cautious not to give more than a 9 to non-souls games LMAO

It's most likely Calvert again, seems to be the GTA guy.

Carl would be a terrible choice. He nitpicks minor things and deducts whole points for said minor things.

With that being said, I doubt this game will get less than a 9.

The Gone Home score controversy is really hypocrisy to me.  A reviewer from IGN assigned the same score, and Giant Bomb's reviewer showered it with praise, yet if an LGBT reviewer dares give a high score for a game about two women, it's because she's super-liberal-progressive biased

If GS is going with that 10 point system as of now, then I would predict another 10

No. It's because they all are.Imagine for a moment rejecting a game that's the media darling of everyone who denotes themselves champions of social justice and open-mindedness. There is no incentive to give the game the score it deserves. Only deterrents that compel reviewers to high-ball it.

gta iv's score will always come up.  imo, gta iv was an awesome game but with significant flaws.

if you didn't have xbox live, gta iv wasn't anything too special.

If it's Mcshea this will really get interesting, I mean going after Joel because he goes out late at night, lol.

I would respect her a lot more as a writer if not for pieces like the Project X Zone review, or "The Last of Us and grading on the gender curve".

"Denal of the self: Queer characters in Persona 4" should be particularly offensive to anyone who gives a shit about journalistic integrity. Worst thing ever written. It isn't even about the subject it discusses, which is a very valid topic that should be brought up. It's the fact that she bends the depiction of these characters to match her views, and literally creates for herself how Persona 4 hates the LGBT community. If anything, the game is one of the most mature (if one of the few) depictions of struggling with gender identity.

There definitely is the accusation that Petit exaggerated the score high enough to tower above other games to greatly reward a game that focuses on it's representation of women.  I don't agree with it, but it's there.  Perhaps, I'd be skeptical if the game's metacritic average was like 80 or something, but I'll give Petit the benefit of the doubt.

Guess we have to wait a week or a bit less to see.

But from what ive seen and read on GTA5, this game is GTA4 times 10.

More detailed world(better graphics), more vehicles, weapons, much bigger map, list goes on.

From what ive seen this GTA is the biggest and most polished one yet.  Should get a 10/10 easily from most sites and be the best GTA created.

I agree completely.  I also think that the 3 character model they have is brilliant.  There's so much you could do with that.  We can't know until we play it and get response from others who have played it enough to review it.  Personally, the game is a must-buy for me no matter what the score is.  If I had to guess, I would say that it would get a 10, but a 9 or 8 is definitely possible.
