Could you state more specifically what "bumping" actually is? I realize that just posting the word "bump" to keep my topic alive isn't allowed, but if I posted something else related to the topic and didn't just type a word would that be allowed?

Also, as much as I think this kind of a thread is needed, when it comes to system wars its like telling a group of five year olds not to eat paste... they're going to do it anyway, unfortunately.

One of my few moderations came a long time ago when I was moderated for "Abusively reporting items for moderation". I was basically modded for reporting others too much, right? I'm sure that the people I was reporting had broken the TOS or other FORUM rules, but I WAS MODERATED for reporting them??? That being the case, from then on, I only report SERIOUS issues (hate speech, flagrant profanity, etc...). I actually let a lot of stuff go unreported (though I'm sure others probably report it... or do they?) because of this. So I guess what I would like to know, if it can be easily explained, is what the heck is "Abusively reporting items for moderation". SIDE NOTE: That moderation said "automatically inserted"... does that mean that it's an auto-mod for a set number of reports? If so, that seems a bit odd... I mean if there are tons of TOS violations, and we are reporting them, then why should we be modded?

I also think their needs to be a little more fairness in what is considered flaming. Flaming, in my eyes at least, is me reading an opinion, disagreeing, and responding by calling that person a complete moron, rather than explaining why i disagree and respecting their opinion.

When somebody makes a post which is just absurd nonsense obviously designed to annoy people; why am i moderated for telling that person to quit being a troll?

If i respond to somebody and tell them that they're incorrect, only to have them respond with "You must care enough to reply!" - why do i get moderated for telling them to stop behaving childishly? Is that an insult, or is that a reasonable request?

Unless you're outright insultng another person - you're an idiot, shut the hell up you moron etc - i dont think moderations for "flaming" are necessary when it is clear that no offense is intended.

Ninja-Vox

can't bend there. insults = flaming = instant minimum 7 day suspension. report and ignore. i'm going to repeat this many, many times it seems.

as long as it's something meaningful that adds to the topic, it's fine. just typing something to move your thread back up is where there's a problem.

Is calling someone a "blind fanboy" flaming? I've always wondered this, because that term gets thrown around here a lot.

And, what ever happened to the "Hype Stickies"?

HarlockJC

"blind fanboy" would get somebody moderated.

hype stickies are only for big exclusive games (with ngs being the exception).

I have never understood why calling people names like blind fandoys not allowed...But calling people Sheep, cow or anything else is allowed

it's just another name for fanboys.

since they aren't blocked by the language filter, they can be used. they can't be used to flame, however.

I went to the "Ask the Mods" forum not too long ago concerning me using "kid".

They said I can use it as long as I don't go overboard with it.

I'll find the thread if you need it.

About number two: You are discouraging replying in every thread for what reason exactly?

I think you should just take that one out as it really has nothing to do with being moderated. I'm sure it is possible to post in "every" thread without violating the TOS (except for mentioned suicide threads of course).

Can I say "done up the ass"? If I am not referring to a fellow poster?

If not please don't moderate me...

Are we not allowed to express our opinions about anything we dislike, including bad or unreliable news? Is not the greatest thing to occur from internet forums real users being critical of the traditional media?

The term bump is common place among all internet forums, and is harmless by nature. I doubt infrequent and new users will be aware of being deviant because no other forum I have heard of would moderate it.

My question is, will that be a guideline you will request users do their best to follow and respect, or will there be actual bans for that reason?

"If you don't like a topic, don't post in it"

Replying to a thread claiming something like "wall of text" is just a users way of saying something is poorly written. And "too long, didnt read" often is posted in response to sources that users do not find reliable. Do you wish to squelch these opinions entirely or do you just want them worded in a different way? And if so, why?

5. Censor bypassing. It's not good enough to replace one, two, or even three letters in a censored word with a creative little symbol. The entire word needs to be edited out. Better yet, don't include profanity at all. This isa video game website. Why do you need to swear?CaseyWegner
this one confuses me a bit. Is it ok for us to completely star out a word, or do you not even want that?

Can we say "The ps3 is too ****ing expensive for me" or is that a violation?

oh, and sorry if it IS a violation. I'll delete this post if you want me to.

"This is System Wars, not Fanboy Wars. Talk about the systems and not the people who play them."

The systemwars culture and what binds us together as a tight nit community is based around 'fanboys'. What prompted you to try and do away with discussion about alter identities and arguably the funnest thing about systemwars?
