Casey's Guide to not getting Moderated

Is there anyway to complain about how you get moderated?It happened to me when I posted in a RFOM flop thread when both it and Gears were reviewed.(just agreed with anothers post)And for having a picture of someone being shoot in gears which lot of people had but I was moderated for it.xXHackettXx

I figure this is as good a place as any to ask.

Can we respond to the Bioshock threads (now) or other games that suspension is threatened (future) without getting suspended?

Or do responders as well as thread creating offenders both get suspended?

posting in a thread that ignores a sticky is pretty much the same thing as posting in a thread that violates the ToU. you definitely run the risk of being moderated for it. there's no loophole to get around not being able to discuss the game outside of a stickied thread just because somebody else made the topic.

there's no excuse for not reading the stickies.

Casey, I just got a warning saying that I have been violeting the TOS. But it doesn't say what I did. It told me to go to my Moderation History, but there are no moderations inside there.

I think it'd be a good idea if one of the mods put the System Wars Rules + SW information thread into one sticky. Like the title could be "System Wars Rules and Information - READ BEFORE POSTING". Just a thought.

"jeez you cows are stupid sometimes" that comment got me suspended for 7 days and i find that completely unfair. can you tell me how exactly the comment deserved such a consequence.

Cause it's flaming. It's in the rules btw...here: "To put it even clearer - *any* insult to another user in this forum will merit an automatic 7 day suspension. Even calling someone "dumb" is flamming. Using a smiley or putting "joke" etc after an insult does not mitigate it."

1. because this is the system wars forum...not the bioshock forum. forum flooding sucks and tons of complaints come in when it happens. if you guys could practice a little more self control, this wouldn't be a problem.

SuddenlySystem Wars isterrible. I remember when Casey was a COOL mod thatpeople liked. I don't know if it wassomeoneelse or himself, butSystem Wars has gone waaaay downhill. Regulating the number of times you can quote someone?!?! You have to be kidding. If someone's time is so important that they can't spare the extra 2 seconds to scroll down, they shouldn't be on a video game forum to begin with.

Come on, it's absurd to have stricter policies on rules of posting HERE, in SYSTEM WARS, than in any other place on GS. Honestly, you might as well go to the off topic forum and regulate what gets posted there. The Superbowl? Sorry, some people don't like football orit could be offensive to someone who didn't make their high school football team.

At this rate System Wars will be limited to only positive comments about systems, and you have to praise ALL systems, no singling one out. I can imagine it now, topics titled "Man, all video game systems have their strong points!" and "Boy oh boy, I just don't know which platform to buy Madden for because they are all amazing!"

And if I get moderated for this (I don't know what for, probably excessive punctuation or posting at the wrong time of day) then that just helps to prove my point. Creativity is being stifled, personal opinions are being put down, and System Wars has basically become 1984 in terms of how overbearing it is.

most of these aren't even new rules. most fall under the category of "be respectful to your fellow posters."

I had a situation awhile ago where another user was flat-out lying about my posting history (saying that I posted stuff that I didn't). The person was lying, plain and simple. Would it be alright to call that person a liar? I mean, I would know that it isn't true, but what about other people reading it who don't know the truth about my posting history? >_>PannicAtack

I do agree with some of you that the rules are getting out of hand, but i've been a forum poster forever and usually all forums become stricter and stricter. You may not like the rules, but most of you have been saying "this isn't a forum for little kids." Well if your so mature, adjust to the new rules and stop crying about them like a little kid.
