[QUOTE="Stevo_the_gamer"]In the SystemWars rules stickied thread, the following is listed as a rule: Copyrighted Materials: Don't post any (that includes magazine scans). Could you go into more detail in this, such as, exceptions to that such rule (foreign magazines, links to magazine scans, and/or downloads)? CaseyWegner

foreign mags are okay. just avoid everything else.

foreign meaning?? What if someone lives in Australia? Does that not make US scans foreign? Shouldn't it state: "US scans are prohibited, outside scans allowed."?

What is a foreign mag? Anything that won't get GS in the ****? No such thing as foreign on the internet.CaseyWegner

this is an american site.

But what about au.gamespot.com or uk.gamespot.com? I know that they're just sub-domains, but it isn't clear what is and isn't "foreign" when technically this website caters for other nationalities in ways such as this...

Right now, I have a big GAMESPOTAU banner at the top of my screen, suggesting that the site is Australian, therefore why wouldn't I post Australian magazines?

Even CNET has an Australian website. Heck, have a look at the Australian CBS Interactive Website

Dunno, but I guess we can post UK mag scans (or atleast the ones not sold in America) because it's an American site.

How thin is the line between trolling and just tongue-in-cheek humor sarcastic and/or smartass comments? For example, if it's obvious a certain user doesn't own a said system, or game for that matter -- and then you call that person out on it. That person briefly repsonds saying, "I do own game x or system y".

If you were to respond to that by saying, "Yeah, and a pig just flew over my house." Or my personal favorite, "Yeah, and I'm going to win the lottery." Would those be trolling statements?

Just curious, not trying to pull a "gotcha" moment or anything, but isnt that exactly what this thread is? http://www.gamespot.com/pages/forums/show_msgs.php?topic_id=26787789 I'm just trying to make sure I understand the difference so I dont get modded, not trying to be smart or anything.

you shouldn't be calling people out anyway. the forum is for discussing the systems and their games...not the people who play them.

Perhaps one might do such to prove that user x is lacking credibility in his statement(s) when he expresses his views when he played game "x" or system "y". So, for the sake of argument, (and playing the what if game...) what if what I said earlier happened, and I let sarcasm get the best of it? Would that resort in falling into hot water? :P

On topic- What if too many people are asking you questions in your thread and you answer them(say like 7 people ask) will you get modded for excessive posting? even if you are the TC? Off topic- why did you change your avatar? I liked the old one :(

If format wars is not allowed in SW then why do we have "game" threads? Games and movies fall under format. All fall under system.

I have a question concerning quoting. What is the minimum number of words required to respond to a quote? For example, I know that you cannot just quote someone and say, "I agree", "My thoughts exactly", etc. (found out the hard way) Do you just need to make sure you mention something related to the topic in your reply?

Thanks.

what if you report someone for clearly breaking a rule and their post doesn't get modded?
