Really, I see a game that may be better than God of War IIIin almost every aspect of the game
Graphics: So GOW III may be better techinically, but Castlevania will be better artistically. There is greater value in art design than in techincal graphics.
Gameplay: Other than the boss fights, GOW III is a complete borefest. Hack slash hack slash. From the looks of it, Castlevania will have more varied gameplay with no QTE's.
Sound: Ummmm...its Castlevania. No contest here.
Story and Characters: Now this is where complete destruction of God of War III occurs. Castlevania has substance, even looking at the trailer. God of war III, or the series of that matter, has very little substance. From the looks of it, this new Castlevania may deal with the loss of a loved one and about death in general, GOW III...smash...torture...blood...guts...YEAH!!!!! Protagonists...Kratos, an adolescent boys wet dream, a shallow unniteresting character that tortures and kills anyone that crosses him in the most violent manner. No substance, very little depth, very little intellegence. Gabriel Belmont on the other hand looks to be a very likable protagonist who we care for...always trying to do the right thing, but kills when he has to. He also seems intellegent, as he is aware his quest to restore his wife to life may be a trap.Surrounding him will be a memorable cast of supporting characters and antagonists. Patrick Stewert FTW. While the story could ultimately dissappoint, a disappointing Castlevania story is better than a well executed GOW story.
From the looks of it however, it should easily trump the highly underrated Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness as the best story in the series(the N64 game starring werewolfCornell, in which, somehow there is also a Cornell in the new game)
Hopefully, Castlevania will make us forget about the grossly overrated and idiotic GOW III when it comes for GOTY awards.
