I'm sure one employee's opinion does not equal CD projekt red as a whole.

at any rate, DA:O was a fantastic game, don't see why he would make such a tiny critisism.

Because it was probably related to the discussion in the thread this was posted in. Not directed at you, but to some people in this thread: It's one little complaint, stop acting like he wrote paragraphs upon paragraphs of unfair criticisms. : \

It was something new and dynamic. Certainly wasn't lame. Yeah new. Maybe bioware should try something like that. You know....new.Revan_911

Why is it that whenever I see you in a thread, you're pissing and moaning about Bioware?

I don't know. I guess i feel that they haven't made a good game since Kotor.

your opinion has been duly noted.

Holy **** why do you want Bioware to try something new, Revan? They already have ME series. Ignore the TPS combat and the start of the carry over system. Then they have the Star Wars MMO in the making which is doing something entirely new to the MMO genre. Then there is DAO, which is a homage to BG. Even if you have to be spoon fed Mass Effect's story, you still need to open your eyes and stop ignoring all of the things Bioware has done this gen.

Its true.. my character felt out of place in big scenes, I very much prefere pre-made characters to some sort of faux role playing make your own kind.. and voice acting.. I like that too.

I love BioWare, they do new stuff all the time, which is why DAO was such a HUGE disappointment, I felt like it was a step back as far as RPGS go, I'm really wondering if people played the same game I did, or maybe they have never played the game and are just going by what the reviews are saying about it? I don't know, it was a chore to finish DAO mainly because I felt like I had played it 10 years earlier. Also look at my XFire, I sure as hell took my time with it, don't say I didn't.

As opposed to how Geralt conveyed his deepest thoughts and emotions through subtle facial animations? Nope, wait, I've confused "deepest thoughts and emotions" with "cliche two-dimensional character" and "subtle facial animations" with "blank stares and dead eyes" again.

Seriously, what's this guy's point?

PBSnipes
Have you played with the Polish text and dialogue? There's much more emotion to Geralt, not to mention he has much more backstory, and the choices genuinely affect the story and Geralt's development, unlike those seen in some of Bioware's games (ME comes to mind, although there were a few in DA:O). I like both games, and he's right. The fact it was a player-created character did take away from the development of the story (as with any create your own character game), but it really didn't hinder the gameplay or plot that much. It allowed it to feel more personal, although I could personally relate to Geralt as well. You gamble when you give people set protagonists, but it allows for a much stronger narrative and better character development.

[QUOTE="Im_single"] I love BioWare, they do new stuff all the time, which is why DAO was such a HUGE disappointment, I felt like it was a step back as far as RPGS go, I'm really wondering if people played the same game I did, or maybe they have never played the game and are just going by what the reviews are saying about it? 41 hours is "taking your time?" I spent 135 hours on the singleplayer portion alone, did most (bar 3-4) sidequests and got everything I could out of that game. The gameplay might be like a modernized, tweaked version of a game you experienced 10 years ago, but that doesn't make the narrative worse. With strong characters and another well-executed plot (albeit cliche like all Bioware's games), I'm not really sure how you could consider it a poor game. It's probably the only Bioware game in recent memory that doesn't have the terrible pure "black and white" decision making (like Mass Effect). Your decisions also played some role in the story, which is more than I can say for some other WRPGs and Action-RPGs this generation. The game was challenging as well, which was nice since most of these WRPGs/action-RPGs this generation are cakewalks. It was, ironically, a breath of fresh air in today's gaming. That is for me at least. There's not much else like it out there today...

They have done so much. I have never played a Bioware game I have not loved. They are among, if not the, best developers out there. They deliver consistent quality.

The game wasn't suppose to be revolutionary...fans wanted a spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate and that is what they got.

[QUOTE="AAllxxjjnn"]hahah, well, you mean an artist that works at CD Projekt RED.Zero5000X
He's a representative of the company on the forums.

Well, actually I`m not. As the one who caused the whole discussion I have to say that I`m really surprised how my words were misunderstood by some people, especially by the author of the initial post, and blown out of proportions. First of all, this was my PERSONAL opinion and it has nothing to do with CDProjekt RED at ANY point. I`m not - as it was mentioned - a representative of CDPR on our community forums. I`m just marked as an employee. Second, I wrote about main character in Dragon Age, which I found soulless. By that I mean it`s not talkin, it doesn`t have any face expression nor reactions. That was all I ment, because I think Dragon Age is one of the best RPGs I`ve ever played! I love it and I was really addicted to it for a long time, even tho I didn`t like the main character face expression ;))) That would be all:) Have a great day :) Oh, and BTW - this also was my personal opinion ;)

Your either just a Bioware fanboy or you've never played The Witcher. Go to Biowares own forums and see what their fans think of The Witcher. I think you'll find that they give creidt where credit is due. Something your not willing to do obviously. The Witcher is every bit as good as Dragon Age and although The Witcher has it's faults too, the CDPR employee correctely points out the truth it what he said about the main character in Dragon Age. The employee also stated that he was stating a personal opinion and can't really fault him for his bias given his job.

Well, he is :?

Gordon Freeman isn't a character though, he is a avatar.. He never talks nor do you have a out of body cut scenes.. You are suppose to be him.. While characters like Master Chief have their own dialogue and personality (or more accurately supreme lack of) as well as out of body cutscenes.
