The one that I actually wanted to see rest in peace was Solid Snake in MGS4, it would have made for a fitting ending.:(

Zack in Final Fantasy VII:Crisis Core, definitely, I got attached to him...and seeing Pvt. Chernov die in Call Of Duty:World At War saddened me...it was so sudden and close to the game, I was like"...wow..."...and then I discovered the flamethrower who kills him can't be killed before Chernov gets burned, no matter how many shots you put in his head, and that was even worse for me. =/

For me, the two deaths that I almost cried were Zack from Crisis Core and Isara from Valkyria Chronicles. [spoiler] Isara's getting friendly with Rosie. Then BANG! Isara dead. :( [/spoiler]

I didnt beat RE5 yet but if Wesker dies at the end that would blow :( i love that character

auron and tidus from ffx. they didnt really die but for those who finish the game you'll know what i meant. Then ffx-2 had to screw it up and bring tidus back -.-

Jenny from The Darkness. Only character death that really hit me. All the others just didn't work, for whatever reason. Aeris' death, for example, had me going "OH HELL YES!" after Sephiroth turned her into an Ancient-Kebob.DJ_Lae

I dont think The Darkness get the credit it deserves. Jenny's death was sad but I was even more shocked when Jackie killed himself.

I ment when he killed himself right after Jenny died. The end was when the Darkness took over his body.

Yeah, he didn't kill himself at the end of the game. Though I must say, it was a very sad ending. It was the last time he was going to be with Jenny sitting at the bench in some park in "heaven" I believe.

Lots of people in FF4, I've been playing the DS remake lately and everyone's dieing, although luckily Cid, Rydia and Yang didn't actually die but still Porom, Palom and Tellah all did.
