[QUOTE="ColdP1zza"]Aren't those cut-scenes? But that isn't even everything, its just graphics. FFXIII looks lame to me because the main characters are little girls with pink hair. I'd rather play as a believable hero like FFIV's.hakanakumono
Wait, so this is a believable hero:
But this isn't:
Or if we're talking about the other characters, FFIV is the only one with ... an actual "little girl."?
Agreed. Lightning >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Cecil. And other than Rydia I can't think of a single other "little girl" either that was a main character.
Pretty much yeah. I think I'd believe the knight in the armor to be the one to kill monsters and save the world:
Over these two teenage girls wearing practically nothing:

terra in ff 6 dont know about little but she was a girllol well yeah there were other girl main characters, but ColdP1zza specifically called them "little" girls.
You're going to be disappointedThis game is so emo, gosh, dudes are becoming more feminine looking. disappointing. I guess its just a different culture. I'm still getting it for the m$360, just don't turn the game in to another love story.

[QUOTE="Jynxzor"]I seriously don't get what people have against the character designs of FF games "Or JRPG's in general" Sure they are not musclebound space marines and they usually have some form of hair and are not prematurly bald, Nor do they take steroids on an hourly basis. But what can you do, it's how the Japanese culture represents heros as those who stand out from the crowd of conformity the Japanese culture is ruled around. Japanese people look at most JRPG characters and think of it as breaking away from their conformist culture and know it's ok to be different. I don't see anything really special about WRPG character design besides the fact you can always create some form of "Lumpy" person that slighty resembles you, or has some extremley abnormal features.subymanWRPGs usually have normal guys with slightly larger frames and a square jaw. We are into "manly men." They usually wear heavy leather or some sort of plate armor (fallout 3's radiation suits, Oblivion's plate armor, etc.) Americans have usually seen power as a visual concept. Bigger cars, bigger buildings, and hence bigger people are the heroes. We like our heroes. Japanese like to think there is a hero in every person and it can be tapped when in dire need. It is more about the average person being called upon to take action than being a big powerful hero saving the day.
It's really more that characters like Squall and Tidus are seen as good looking, masculine guys to the Japanese eye.
Characters like in WRPGs are considered to be overly masculine and sometimes even "gay."
Argh why is the word style censored? i cant say art style WTF?Drakes_FortuneBut you just did!
Lulz. Packers got owned twice this season by the Old Man! :PI really hope this is better than 12.

Pretty, but it wont touch Dragon Age as an RPG.Birdy09So true. The last trailer for FFXIII that was up on PSN bored me to tears....did look nice though, that's just not enough.
HAHAHAHAHAHA lol.[QUOTE="Drakes_Fortune"][QUOTE="Birdy09"]Pretty, but it wont touch Dragon Age as an RPG.-Oath
How is that funny? Hes not wrong. DA is a far more detailed, complex and vast RPG.
   . oh god. sorry bout that. dont mind me, ill just go laugh a bit to that corner.[QUOTE="-Oath"][QUOTE="Drakes_Fortune"] HAHAHAHAHAHA lol.Drakes_Fortune

what are you talking about? dragon origins is on ps3 too. But what ps3 or xbox or fanboys has to do with this? But alright you prefer Dragon Origins and thats fine. I will get FF13.

In your opinion and it's strange to have such an opinion when FF13 isn't even out yet.[QUOTE="-Oath"][QUOTE="Drakes_Fortune"] HAHAHAHAHAHA lol.kulmiye

But sure, what I said means nothing unless we have played the game.

HAHAHAHA sorry. but... HAHAHAHAH    . oh god. sorry bout that. dont mind me, ill just go laugh a bit to that corner. Only a fool laughs at the truth....Anyway,perhaps you like your RPG´s linear, with abssolutely no character creation(only those generic teenaged spyked hair characters),minimal(if none)side quests, luducrous combat system that makes any real RPG fan yawn, linear storytelling(although some of the stories have some quality) with no possibilities of branching to alternate endings,etc,etc,etc....
Now,go see the definition of the acronym RPG,and see if these features(or the lack of any of them)seem remotly close to what RPG means....
So,all in all,DA IS a RPG,while FF games are adventure games with some very mild RPG elements. So FF is not even in the same league as DA...
So,by all means,please,continue laughing....I sure am.
Arach666There's no way DA isn't linear >_> It's just illusion. Like in FF6 when you go down the river, you get to choose which main story quest to complete first, and then move on to the next.

You prefer that, fine. Why should i care? I dont like those RPGs that much, they are boring. Its always the same thing, create a character, then you have an open world ( this always sucks, i hate the way they do these open worlds), then all you do is some lame main quests for the storyline, and lame side quests. its the same thing over and over again. The story always sucks, and its always set on those medieval fantasy setting that million games have done before. Its the same Open world medieval fantasy RPG all over again. Boring. At least we get a great storyline in FF, with great characters, Great art style, Amazing enviroments, a battle system that aint boring, great cutscenes and so on. Everything is far better IMO.[QUOTE="Arach666"]Only a fool laughs at the truth....[QUOTE="Drakes_Fortune"] HAHAHAHA sorry. but... I´m not saying you should care.Makes no diference to me. But after carefully reading through your post,I only come to one conclusion:The day FF games start to have these real RPG features that you so much dislike,I´m pretty sure you will still be here defending how great FF is,and what great "new" features it has brougth into the genre... FFXII tried to aproach westerner RPG´s style in some areas, and,in that department,it failed miserably, but it showed that Square enix knew(and knows) that the future of FF games are bound to change.Im aware of that but I think its pretty obvious. JRPGs arent like WRPGs, they way more linear and have far less substance. But sure, what I said means nothing unless we have played the game.-OathMost of the time that tends to be true but if I were to compare FFXII and Fallout 3 the original before the DLC , I personally believe that those two had roughly equal amount of substance. Both had a main quest. Both had sidequests. Both also had leveling and weapon procuring and so forth.
FF 13, RPG of the year 9.5 here on Gamespot! Seriously the game is amazing can't wait to play it!haris12121212
Final Fantasy 13 hasn't been reviewed by GS. Unless that's your prediction.
Dragon Age and Final Fantasy XIII are in two separate genres. It's ridiculous to say things like "well FFXIII is too linear!" because JRPGs really aren't about making your own adventure; they're about experiencing an imaginative adventure in an original, fantasical world.
The thing I don't understand are these comments about FF combat being "boring" and the design being "medicore" or the characters "generic."
First of all, the battle system is being revamped. When the ATB was originally introduced, there was a greater emphasis on speed than before. Speed is being emphasized once again and it's changing everything. If you've seen the new battle system you would know that i'ts more active than ever before.
Second of all, FFXIII's cast is unlike anything we've seen this gen. The main character isn't even a male (and no, it's not the same character model as Cloud). Where else do we see a character with costume design like Vanille or Sazh? And what of the world? FFXIII's premise already includes one of the most original worlds in JRPG history. But what, "Dragon Age" is more imaginative and creative in it's design?
It's almost like half of the insults towards the Final Fantasy series are either from people who know nothing about JRPGs and think Final Fantasy games haven't changed since 2000.
Please. Don't make me hound you with billions of Pictures from Mass Effect 2 that crush every pic you put up.dreman999lmao dont compare that trash to FF13.

But its more a shooter than an RPG, and isnt anywhere near something great like FF. No game is anyway.

So, FF12 was like an mmo ,Tales is like an action game, Fallout 3 is like a fps and then their borderlands. Doesn't stop them from being rpgs. It just that most jrpg now on councels outside of persona are unoriginal and I get that vibe for FF13.
