These are some work-in-progress screenshots from 3DMark Vantage, the next PC benchmarking tool from Futuremark, using the latest DX10 technology. These guys just opened up a game studio and this engine will be used in their games...

Since that's a benchmarking program and not an actual game, we probably won't be seeing graphics like that in a game with the scale of a game like Crysis for like 2 years.MetroidPrimePwn

Crysis looked vastly better than 3DMark06, and that was only a year after.

Some of the Rouge Squarden games looked pretty good.

Benchmark tools don't include A.I and other stuff so it's not a true bencmark of what you'll be seeing

P.S. I did play Crysis, I remember the names Psycho, and Prophet. I only played it once through which is why I don't remember everything.

Bragging about the graphics in a tech demo seems kinda silly to me. And sure that ship looks ridiculous, but it's just one ship in a bunch of nothingness. Like I said, it's a tech demo. No different than the Molina head.

Show me an actual game with those visuals, then I'll be impressed.

Congratulations, you've completely missed the point he was trying to make. Halo also contains these things called objects other than a guy. Like environments and NPC's and AI and physics and other kinds of game data. Because it's an actual game, as opposed to this benchmarking program.

Why arey ou running 32bit Vista, when you have a 64 bit procesor? The 32bit version is a lot less supported then the 64 bit version, specifically considering most peope have 64bit processors now adays. It is also rather odd you are using 3 gigs of ram, since it means you have 3 sticks of memory. This is actually counterproductive, since even though you have more ram, your are causing bandwidth issues since DDR ram works in pairs. You should probably throw in your video card panel as well.

I assume you bought this computer instead of putting it together?

I would like to point out. That many consolites will likely not appreciate those graphics, as they probably do not see what PC gamers can see. Look how many polygons that ship is made up of. The number of onscreen polygons is unheard of. Then look at the number of dynamic lights that are being given off. Then look at amount of shader and particle effects.

To appreciate these images, you need to understand a bit about how video cards work. If you are able to appreciate them, you would get a better idea of how they would look in motion. You would also be able to get an idea what this means for the future of gaming.

would i like to play games in that quality? hell yes! Would i like to upgrade my pc that often without certain results?. no.

3D Mark is a benchmark program and it's graphical demonstration should not be taken into account IMO.

The screens are nice, but the thread title is a bit unecassary at the moment, im sure console gamers are sick of having 'PC visuals FTW' thrown at them on a regular basis, rather than debates or discussion

Then those are some very ill informed hermits. ;) I agree with them that the CryEngine 2 is amazing. In fact, it is getting improved consistantly, which would mean Crysis 2 will look better then the first. However, graphical innovation doesn't stop, it only continues to get better. Heck, Moore's law is theorized to last another 10-15 years.

A Intel quad core processer uses the 64 bit version cause I thought that was only the AMD ones that did

Yes. The those Intel makes 64 bit processors, including the one you have. Also, your specs are meaningless without showing your video card. Do this... go to Start->Run, type "dxdiag" and take a screenshot of the System and Display tabs. What you screenshotted means nothing.

It's not a nerdy answer. It's also nothing to do with a clique. The fact is, PC gamers naturally learn about hardware, because it benefits them. It's because we mostly build our own computers instead of buying a box that plays games. This is the equivalent to saying a race car driver knows more about engines then someone who buys a performance car.

With current gen cards you probably will be running that benchmark at under 20 FPS and the next gen cards will probably get around 30. Next gen cards will probably cost atleast $500 + cost of the other hardware to go along with the card. Sure, I won't lie, PC graphics will accel ahead of console graphics. But as the saying goes, you get what you paid for. And for the $300 I paid for my 360 and $275 I paid for my PS3, I'm quite satisfied with their graphics.EXLINK
