Being ported to DS a decade later many enchancemenets and additions should be expected and yet it doesn't look like it will have any

Extremely dissapointing.

Don't mess with success.

I would agree, but then again, if they're gonna do that, they might as well virtual console it.

[QUOTE="BubbyJello"]Are you ferserious?

I also hate turn-based games, and I watched some footage of the original and it looks boring(and practically fully turn-based) to me.

What's so great about it? If it's the story, I could care less.

Not everyone can find JRPG's enjoyable. But Chrono Trigger is a prime example of how they should be made.

I've never played Chrono Trigger, but surely it can't be better than Final Fantasy 6. Or can it?

I'd be willing to bet after this comes out a lot of newer gamers that never played this game are going to call it trash. I loved it when it came out, but it didn't hold up as well as I thought it would the last time I popped it in. Still gonna get this :D

Oh, its above FF6, not only that, its so good that its "bad" sequel was able to score a 10/10 here.

Secret of Mana and FF6 are on the same level.

Fact of the matter is Chrono was so far ahead of its time and was so good it just usurped everything.

It has a lot worse story than FFVI, especialy since CT's character lack any real charisma. The gameplay however is much better IMO and it's just overall more enjoyable experience than FF6

I disagree. Because of the first peson-esque battles in DQ, the enemies are actually artwork, not sprites like in CT.

True, but Toriyama's s.tyle is very hard to recognize on non-human characters, especialy low-res ones and you hardly do see any human enemies in DQ (at least in VI), those are mostly monsters.

In CT you can tell it's Toriyama just by looking at main characters sprites

dont you think you guys are overhyping the game for those who havent played it? saying stuff like "its my favorite rpg or best rpg ever made" arent really gonna influence a lot of people, especially since people rarely care about the opinions of others these days. once this game comes out, if people dont like it, whats going to happen? why, they are going to come in here, and say "this game didnt live up to all the hype provided by all the people in system wars". and then what happens? another system wars war. lets just let the game speak for itself.

then again, all of what i just said could be applied to any game

May I ask how old are you? I may be old school but in my opinion the 8bit-16bit era was the golden age of gaming. This era was not consumed with trying to unlock achievements or trophies or graphics. It was was about good fun games that everyine could enjoy. The memorable moments from that age in gaming is classic. I true golden age gamer remembers "up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, Start" Dude trust me, you missed out on a lot. Todays home consoles can only wish they will have the life span and the library of NES 1983-2003(the last year of production for the nintendo famicon).

Anyway as far as chrono trigger goes. This one of my favorite RPGs ever, along with Secret of Mana and Lunar. I will definately pick this up. I hope they can get the team back togother so we can get another game in the series.

RPGs are more liable to stand the test of time. The genre hasn't changed much since Chrono Trigger so people who enjoy the genre, will love the game.

i admit i have never played the game but that's because it's on a system before xbox. seriously, i can't look at garbled messes like that for more than a few seconds.

Yes, we all love CT, and it is definitely considered one of the best RPGs of all time.

But look at those scans... really, what's there to be excited about? It's to be almost a carbon copy of its SNES original,

which many CT fans have played over and over, not to mention how easy it is to play this game for free on your PC.

I'm not writing off this port yet. As long as there are more than MINOR graphical enhancements, and small changes to the script, then this may just be worth another purchase. But as of now, really, I don't see what's the big deal.

I wonder if it will have the same Anime intro as the PSOne version.
