Yep. Assuming they pass on 100% of their savings, that means that the price should drop from $59.99 to $59.90
Seriously, wake up fools... There is not any legitimate savings to be passed on to the consumers. In the entire production of the game, it saves them money, but for the individual consumer, it absolutely negligible.

Not going to happen. However, if they're taking the PDF-ish route, they better make GREAT MANUALS. As in, something some of us would be tempted to print and bind.
That reminds me of the time, when I was upgrading my PC mid 2007, the Intel Motherboard I bought from Newegg never came with a manual. Instead, it was in PDF format in the CD. I didn't think much of it at first but then I learned that it was a little inconvenient because if I wanted to take even a quick look at the manual, I would have to load the CD into the Drive and browse the CD and wait for the PDF file to load before I can look at it rather than pull out the manual from my desk drawer within a few seconds. But later on I didn't think much of it. I mean, I just copied the PDF maual in my PC and in a directory called UTILITIES along with PC component Drivers so that when I need to see it, it'll be in my PC. I didn't mean to go off topic, but if you wanna hear my thoughts about no paper manuals in game cases, i'm actually pretty neutral about the whole thing. I rarely even look at them because the story is covered better in some games I have played, and alot of them have tutorials that explains the controls and the mechanics of the game. After reading some people's complaints here, I can understand where they're coming from, but like me with the PDF Mobo maual, it seems more like a nuisance rather than anything that'll affect gameplay experience. I could be wrong, so i'd like to hear what you guys have to say about this. Well, in a civilized manner, of course.
Exactly, I noticed that a lot of the people in here that said they haven't read a game manual in a long time are primarily PC gamers, who most probably buy their games through DD which contain a digital copy of the game's manual, or are gamers who mostly play shooters or sports games, games with simple gameplay, of course you don't need a manual for those games. I wonder how far these 1337 gamers who don't need manuals would get in Deamon's Souls without reading the manual? Oh well it looks like Gamestop is going to be getting my $55 for Ubisoft and Epic games. :)I guess I'm one of the only people that actually read the manuals. If I hadn't, I probably wouldn't have found out that wicked weaving allows you to hold down the button mid combo string to dodge + continue that combo string in bayonetta. Or that taunt in the game enrages the enemy but increases the rate at which the magic bar fills up. Neither of those are explained in the game.

Totally agree. I mean, if you're going to remove content from the games I buy (even if its not in-game content), then the price should be lowered as well. If people still buy Ubisoft's games once they stop including manuals, other publishers will follow suit. Let get the message clear to publishers and let them know that if they want to remove content, we will not pay as much.that means they should lower the price of mah game

My bet is 5 cents.
I still read the manuals, sometimes I might be in the middle of a game and I might not know how to do something and if I read the manual I can figure out what to do, for some games there are a lot of controls and it's not always easy to figure out. I hope they don't remove them.
Lol @ the people crying.
Man, sometimes I think publishers/devs just say things to troll.
Manuals have basically been removed. Between me and my brother, we get almost every game that comes out on consoles. You remember back during the Xbox/PS2/GameCube and even before then, how you could tell if a box contained a manual just by picking it up? Now you can't. They feel exactly the same because manuals are only 6-8 pages long, they tell you nothing anymore. The stuff they tell you is already in the game, all you have to do is press start and go to options.
I don't see why this is a big deal to some people. It's like watching someone suffer on life support and crying "no! don't take him/her off!"

Exactly. at most, it costs 10 cents. It is just a couple square feet of paper and ink. The cost, when mass producing, is absurdly low per unit. Same with boxes, and even disks. The actual PHYSICAL content of a game costs the publisher maybe $5 to manufacture.
This Bastard wants to take away your precious paper manuals too....
"On Monday, Ubisoft announced that they will be removing paper manuals from their PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 game packages starting this holiday season. Instead, the manual will be handled digitally in-game.
One popular game designer has already shown support for the move by Ubisoft. In a recent message onhis personal Twitter, Epic Games' Cliff Bleszinski stated that he "fully support losing paper manuals."
Epic Games next internally-developed title will be Gears of War 3. It should be interesting to see if the high-anticipated sequel will come with a paper manual packed in the DVD case."

Who reads the maual anyways? Considering that the "how to play" is often IN the game itself. This Bastard wants to take away your precious paper manuals too....

I don't know exactly where I stand on this. I never really read the manuals for help, I mean most games these days have the same control layout has they've had for the last ten years. Also most games give you an in-game tutorial as a standard. Though on the other hand, I do like to flick through the manuals while I wait for the game to install. However, if this is going to save the game industry money... then yeah I support it. The game industry doesn't make as much money as you'd like to think, in fact they are sinking fast. A good amount of the companies are either being taken over or just going under entirely.
Who reads the manual anyways? And if it was needed why couldn't you just have an on-disc manual that could have a lot for info.trasherheadI like having them for collector's reasons. It just feels manuals should be apart of that.
Taking the manual away is taking part of the fun away.
I collect games as much as I play them. Not to mention I still look at manuals. It's true that a lot of the manuals these days are tiny and useless, but at least they're there. Some games still have good manuals today, and ALL fighting games this gen have good ones.
