Hey, Capcom. Call me. We can fix Resident Evil. Together. :-)CliffyB:D
This topic is locked from further discussion.
Gears of Evil.. Oh wait.. it's already like that.. Only a crappier version of GeOW.. Sure Cliffy, fix it and make it even more generic.
Rolling in a cartwheel laughing out loud and saying ''Weeee!!!''@ Cliffy B wanting to fix Resident Evil
Either they need to give it to someone more focused on making an action game, or they need to give it to someone more focused on making a survival horror game, this mixed **** needs to goGears of Evil.. Oh snap...
.. Put some chainsaws on the ends of those weps and boom... A Shaun of the Dead RE would Rock.
The original Team Silent should get a shot at Resident Evilcharizard1605
I feel like they'd get the atmosphere down great but it wouldn't be as scary as SH. The RE games have never been as scary as the SH games since they have the science and physical world factor. When you play RE you know you are fighting off some lab monster. When you play SH you are playing against the character's own psyche, which makes it much more unpredictable and unsettling than RE could ever hope to be.
Didn't Cliffy retire from game business? He's already coming back? Well, that didn't take long.
Icarian
He never said he was retiring. Just leaving Epic. Specifically said, in fact, that he'd be working again, on something new, either on his own, or with someone else.
Man there are alot of idiots on these forums. Have any of you even listened to anything Cliff B. has commented on, in the industry?
Do you realize that Cliff is an amazing designer, with great ideas of how to challenge the industry to continually innovate, and push / try new concepts.
Show me ONE game that came before Gears of War that is the same as Gears of War..... sure, a ton of EPIC GAMES ideas have been borrowed, re-iterated on (usually not done as well), and out right stolen, since their hit franchise made its way onto the scene.
Do yourself a favor and watch the recent dev panels on GameTrailers, with CLiff B., Tim Schaffer, & some other guy (BL2 dev).... Cliff is the only one there with unique ideas and a visions of where he'd like to see our industry go.
But, hey.... he wears tight t-shirts, and has a number of embarassing photos online.... so lets just focus on that, because we're secretly jealous of his life and success.
PS. I have no doubt Cliff B. could make a far better RE game than Capcom at this point.
If they are going to make an action game, they might as well make a good action game. Cliffy can fix that.
The only way to fix garbage is to throw it away. FizzmanThis isn't the first time RE has found itself in the gutter. It was at risk of being discontinued during the development of RE4.

I don't know how much Cliffy B has had to do with the technical aspects of Unreal Engine, if a big part of that is attributed to him then kudos for his technical accomplishments.
But as far as games, OVER-RATED. Unreal Tournament never did anything for me back when played on PC in early-mid 2000's. Gears 1 did nothing for me. Bullestorm was crap. I admit I've never played Gears 2 or 3, or UT III from this gen. His style seems more like the "crap" RE games that people talk about, linear corridor or arena shooters. What makes anyone think he could recapture the original feel of Resident Evil in a modern game? There is literally no hint of that at all....
Resident Evil should be put in the hands of a developer who has made an outstanding "open world" or adventure game. NOT in the hands of more action junkie/mountain dew drinkers.
[QUOTE="moistsandwich"]You give the guy far too much praise. He's not exactly a god in the industry, and Gears of War isn't exactly a revolution in the genre. He won't/can't make Resident Evil any better.Man there are alot of idiots on these forums. Have any of you even listened to anything Cliff B. has commented on, in the industry?

Point is... he gets far too much, undeserved hate around here. By morons that only know him from other morons forum posts, and they just jump on the hate bandwagon.
Is he a gaming "god", I never said that. But why the hate? It's got to be jealousy, he's young, successful, involved in an industry we all wish we were in... and takes care of himself (aka. isnt a fat slob)... so people try and tear him down, to make themselves feel better.
I don't know the guy personally.... maybe hes a jerk, a scumbag... thing is, I don't know if he is or isn't.... I'm judging him based on the things I've heard him say during interviews and round table discussions.... he has good ideas, conducts himself in a professional manner & has helped create some great games. If more devs were like him, our industry would be better for it.
That would be like giving Mass Effect to Michael Bay :P
PhazonBlazer
But RE6 was already directed by Michael bay...
what? wasnt it? Oh my... I could swear it was
The only thing that can fix RE, is a spin off. If Capcom wants to keep making action games for the masses, and it makes them a ton of money, then let a smaller team create a 'new' RE title. Give the 'hardcore' Resi fans what they've been clamoring for. A return to survival horror.

Hell, they could even make it a start up title. Say, if they get $4 mil, they would make it. It seems ridiculous not to create for two genres with the same IP, if the market is there.
Kojima should do a resident evil.HeirrenWhy? So we can have mountains of awful dialogue and two hour cutscenes?

[QUOTE="Heirren"]Kojima should do a resident evil.DarkLink77Why? So we can have mountains of awful dialogue and two hour cutscenes? No, because his team understands film and drama. I do agree with you about poor dialogue here and there, though, but Resident Evil isn't as complex a story as MGS. I bet Naughty Dog would be fabulous at RE as well--in fact, Last of Us is likely their version of Videogame horror.

Here and there? You're being very, very kind. Kojima writes awful dialogue that is occassionally clever and interesting, granted. Mostly, though, he just regurgitates the same ideas over and over and over again, and has his characters announce how they feel about every single situation and calls that "characterization."
The Last of Us is not horror. It is not frightening. I wouldn't trust Naughty Dog to make a horror game because they have no idea how to.

Because that is what Resident Evil is based on. ...naughty dog has no idea how to? They have never made a game that can stand solely on its mechanics, either. Some of the most talented people in the industry. Please. They're an incredibly inconsistent studio.
And so what if Resident Evil is based on film? Kojima has no idea how to make that kind of game. And his writing should be kept as far away from all video game narratives as possible.
i think he could pull it off.
He's known for being behind some of the best designed games in terms of gameplay, i think if he wanted and tried he could bring it to RE.
People will probably shoot me down, but cliffy is a pretty good designer, and he does tend to listen to the players.

Crash 1 through 3 are some of the best games, that stand the test of time, from eir respected generation. Crash Racing is a great kart racer. Jak and Daxter is loved by fans and critics alike. Uncharted is perhaps the defining series for the Playstation, and overall generation--behind cod maybe. These games are all remarkably different, as well. You saying Kojima has no idea how to make any kind of game is insulting, and gives the impression you aren't very intelligent. Try not to be so negative. Please Log In to post.
