Unless I got a MAJOR discount from DD (MVC2 and classic games are an example of this), I will always prefer a hard copy.
I always lol when I see old games on the PS store, like MK and LA Noire priced at $40-$50 dollars, knowing that I could get a hard copy on ebay for $15-$30.
Yeah some games are priced more for DD while others are priced less lol I remember seeing Dragon Age on XBL for 20 or 30$ and seeing it for way less in stores or online for hard copies.Unless I got a MAJOR discount from DD (MVC2 and classic games are an example of this), I will always prefer a hard copy.

Hard copies look so archaic to me. Nothing beats the commodity of launching games just by clicking on an icon in a list. Don't have to worry if the disc is scratched or lost somewhere plus it saves space.edidiliI love looking at my collection of PS3, Wii and 360 games though :)

I remember seeing ME2 going for $60 on the PS Store, and it was only priced at $20 at Wally World. About two weeks later, it only got dropped to $40 on PSN.
I think it's only $20 on the PS store now though.
y not have both
but i usually prefer DD cause i dun have to wait and am too lazy to insert discs
Some games you like quake 1 I just put in my dropbox folder so I can play on any pc.

Haha that's ridiculous. You wouldn't happen to know if the PSN version of Mass Effect 2 comes with Cerberus Network or not would you? I bought it used and the code was already used lol I know I can buy it separately.[QUOTE="edidili"]Hard copies look so archaic to me. It actually was kinda nice watching at them for a bit but I don't really want to give up the music library in my PC/phone because of that. In the end commodity wins.
Cloud gaming is interesting, there's no installing games or anything. But then again you don't own the games..
I guess DD.

But seriously, as it was stated earlier, some games cost more DD and some cost more for a hard copy. It depends.
I mean, would you rather have a mint condition hard copy of God Hand for $80, or you rather have the DD version for $10?
So yeah... it depends. A manual and case should be irrelevant when it comes to price.

I remember my first 360 making that lovely circular scratch on the first 70$ game I bought only one week later. Or the PS2 era when it would slowly refuse to play the DVDs first then the CDs later. Or going back even more I remember blowing and cleaning those nes cartridges. That was a really nice experience. I'm done with that crap.

DD games are usually stored on an account, so they are already backed up online.

Funny thing is, the game is only $20 with the Cerberus Pack while the Cerberus pack is available separately for $15.

Wow so I would be better off just buying the full game again lol Thanks for the info. Is not because you have a fetish about them but because the internet infrastructure is not ready yet. The gaming companies are not that fond of hard copies and they'll get rid of it as soon as possible.

Hmm?
You can backup your games to an external HDD and restore them. That's what I did when the HDD in my old PS3 crapped out on me.
And the 360 allows you to download the license to your games. So if the console itself got messed up and not the HDD, you wouldn't have to re-download all of your games. I haven't heard any cases of 360 HDD's going bad. It's possible, but not probable.
And if you have a bandwidth cap, it's partly your fault for paying for crappy services.

Doesn't feel as rewarding to me. When I look at my steam list in not impressed. Could be because I dont have much in it though.
I will only buy hard copy. I have never bought a game digitally, not even DLC. I have no plans on ever doing so either. When you own a console and physical copies of games, you will be guaranteed the ability to play it as long as you have a power outlet. With digital games, you rely on the service itself, which I don't trust.
People say that gamers will boycott games going fully digital all day on the forums, but when push comes to shove and it actually happens, they'll bite the bullet and buy the consoles and games regardless.
Not me.
I don't even play very many games to begin with. I honestly don't even really care all that much about video games. I get more satisfaction out of the collection aspect of video games, getting collector's editions, having the game cases, manuals, discs, extras, all in mint condition. For every physical game copy that I own, I have the case, box art, manual and disc, all of which are in brand new, pristine condition. I like having pieces of video game history, and I never plan on selling the stuff. It's the same with how I buy collector's edition strategy guides. I don't use the strategy guides to help me get through games, I just have them because I like them, I think they look cool, and they are pieces of gaming history. I actually enjoy the collecting aspect of gaming more than I do playing games.
Well, with gaming going fully digital, it kills the most important aspect of gaming to me. So no, when gaming goes fully digital, I will really stop buying games, and it won't even be a hard decision for me, at all. I haven't even played a video game in the last 2 months, despite having time to do so, and having a ton of games that I have never even played yet sitting right in my house.
I'm not gonna complain, moan, and whine about gaming going fully digital. If it does, that's just the way it is, and the direction gaming is going. I'll just call it a day, move on, and hold on to what I have, and play retro games for the rest of my life, and never play a new game ever again, and I'll be perfectly happy with my decision.
