True, and it blew past the PS3 after being released 2 weeks after the PS3. The Wii took the lead and has never looked back. Neither the PS3 or 360 is going to catch it before the "next" next gen of consoles are released. Yes, even I agree that CNet got it wrong. XBox 360 isn't going to win this war unless they start selling XBox 360's right now for $100 and start giving away 200K XBox 360 in Japan for FREE every month. Since I don't see neither of these things happening in the near future, the XBox 360 is not going to win. M$ still haven't dropped the price of the XBox 360 again in the U.S. Not sure what they are waiting for. Their timing is terrible.

Atari Jaguar dropped its pricing to $99 bucks when the Genesis and SNES were still $200. It got trounced. Dropping your price can also be perceived by the consumer as desperate and have less quality. It can have short term benefits but it can also wreak long term havok on brand image. I think price cuts are desperate measures at this early stage.

On topic. I doubt the 360 will sell more consoles this gen. But I will guarantee it makes publishers a hell of a lot of money this gen - therefore dumping royalty cash in MS's pocket. A profitable business is a successful business.

Even though its nice to get recognition, you don't really need any website to tell you which console is the clear winner of this gaming generation. If you open your eyes, you'll see the Xbox 360 is reigning supreme over the other two. It suits all types of gamers and not just a particular group. Games, games, and more games is what matters most and only the Xbox 360 provide that for every type of gamer imaginable and at the same time connects people together. Its good to play together.

After reading the article, I basically agree with it. And after reading all of the posts in this thread, I don't think a lot of people are looking at the article from the right perspective.

When CNET predicts that 360 will win this generation, people automatically associate that with which company has sold the most consoles. I understand why people would think that, but maybe that's not what they mean. CNET is a review website. They research/use/play/experience products to determine how "good" something is, and then pass that info on to sonsumers to help them make the right decision on what to buy.
As someone said in a post before this, "We don't play sales/numbers." That's 100% true. And the article details what console is offering the best, the most, and what company has made the best decisions more than anything else. More than total sales.

I don't think CNET is saying the xbox360 will win this generation with having the most consoles sold world-wide. I think CNET is saying the xbox360 will be the best console, and will offer the most. And THAT, I agree with.

To my knowledge, Microsoft and CNET networks are business partners. Do not look too much into this term, due to Microsoft is business partners with a lot of other corporations, ex. being Sony. Microsoft does not own CNET in anyway shape or form, the only way CNET would make a single penny off of Microsoft is by advertising. Simple as that.

CNET is a public-held company. Go to CNET.com and go to Company info and check it yourself.

I will stand corrected if evidence is shown that Microsoft bought CNET within the past couple of years or so. However, again, to my knowledge I have heard no such thing.

It has already been proven that C|Net is a publicly held company. What hasn't been proven, despite the rampant claims that MS owns the company, is who the majority shareholder is. Since you are making the claim that MS is the majority shareholder, it's up to you to prove that they are indeed what you claim they are. We're not the one's making outlandish claims here. So far, among the many that have blindly screamed it out, not one of you can provide any kind of proof.

I cant believe i read that whole thing. It was a waste of time because we all knew what he was going to say. Well it was suprising for him to say the xbox catalogue is much stronger in 08 compared to MGS4, LBP, Resistance 2, FF13, etc. And by what he said about PSN its aparent he hasnt ever played on it. Or he had one bad experience because with my monthes of playing on PSN it totally kicks XBL's butt (yeah i have both and tested both, countlessly)beinss

The PSN hold no ground to Xbox Live. For someone who tested both and still enjoys PSN more is astounding. Each to their own of course.
