CoD4: AAA, revolutionary, won GOTY awards, sold millions. Nobody cares about your opinion.

MW2: AAA, sold billions, nobody cares what you think.

Black Ops: AAA, broke every record. Nobody cares what you think, honestly.

MW3: AA, broke every record, most played game in the world. Your opinion is meaningless.

WickoSicko

And your opinion means so much? Just because I have a different thought process than the majoirty, and you seem to be a sheep in the heard, I don't matter and you do? Sorry I don't have the massive boner you have for CoD, I like to play games that have time and effort put into them.

I posted facts, not my opinion.

Ok, so tell me how millions of people liking a game matters. Please, enlighten me. Alot of people like Twilight, that changes nothing about its quality.

Stupidest thing I heard.

CoD4 was revolutionary in every aspect and brought the franchise to such heights Battlefield can only dream of.

Even if you combine the biggest FPS except for CoD (Halo, Battlefield, Killzone, Resistance, Crysis etc.), they wouldn't get close to the magnitude of the phenomena that is CoD, all thanks to the most revolutionary title of this generation.

WickoSicko

See you don't give any reasons to why it was revolutionary. Just saying it is doesn't make it revolutionary in the slightest. Sales do not make something revolutionary. Also, keep in mind that BF2 was an exclusive PC shooter that was DX9 only (for 2005 that was insane). EA had to make BF 2 Modern Combat for the consoles because of the outcry for Battlefield on the consoles last gen already while the CoD games on the consoles at the time were regarded as very medicore to just flat out bad games.

Also it's a pretty well known fact that Battlefield 2's dominance of the multiplayer scene from 2005-2007 (in which they took it from CoD which had a huge multiplay scene on the PC) and it's massive surge of popularity is what kicked off this trend of modern military shooters that CoD capitlized off of.

You just keep living in ignorance. At this point you've proven to me that you're not a troll, you're just generally stupid and ignorant and probably started gaming with an Xbox 360.

Battlefield 2's dominance in the multiplayer scene? LOL.

Before CoD, all there was that was dominating was Halo and Counter-Strike. Battlefield was never a game other developers looked up to.

So devs "look up" to CoD? Or just want to be in on the cash cow?

I didn't know sports get updated all the time too. Your comparison doesn't make sense.

R4gn4r0k

the mp is basically the same with each cod, just like sports are the same each season

How many times are you going to twist that complete BS comparison? First it doesn't change, than it does, now it doesnt, I won't bother anymore.

its then not than lol. The general complaint is that cod is the same gameevery year. Well so are sports. At least cod has new things as well

Er, a "Community" is a group of people regardless, and if its a community for the game, regardless of what, it is part of their "size" as a game. Why do you think STALKER was so praised? The game itself was a buggy mess, with the complete mods it was a masterpiece, and why it started to sell more and more.

Really? Then why did CoD UO and CoD 3 feature vehicles and almost identical game modes to BF's conquest?

Battlefield 2 destroyed Counterstrike's numbers in the years it was popular. If you knew anything about gaming before 2006 you would know this. But you don't.

How am i trolling? A community adds to the population, thats ...well obvious. Its like how MLG players for Halo/CSS are a community, and obviously they are part of the population of people who play the game. The modding community for BF2 is huge, and due to the fact that it adds to the population, the "size" of the game in terms of population is higher than without the modding community.

And we all know you've never played STALKER, you think all PC gamers are pirates.

WickoSicko

But they haven't, you're just an idiot who doesn't know a thing about gaming pre 2004 at this point. In 2002-2007 Battlefield was much larger than CoD. Sorry, but that's the truth. I know you probably didn't know what online gaming was until 2009 when MW2 came out, but you need to realize that we've been online gaming since the 90s. A lot was different back then.

But MW2 is factually the most fun video game on the planet.

Actually there was a time where Battlefield numbers were larger than CS. It was when CS 1.6 was going out of date and CSS wasn't that good yet.

Also you don't even seem to recognize the entire Quake, Unreal, or Tribes series of games. It's quite sad you know so little let you try to act like you know so much.

All these people who say they hate COD are complete and total phonies. And I can easliy prove it, wacth:

1. You can check just about any COD haters PS3/360 Gamertag and you will find that they play COD on a regular basis, and that they have a fair amount of trophies/achievements for it. Ya you really hate COD don't ya? Your not fooling anyone, stop trying to act "cool" on the internt (which is just silly, only I'm cool on the internet and real life)

2. You COD haters say the series doesn't change much, fair enough it reallyhasn't, and you say that's why you hate it. Well here is where the hypocirisy comes in, do you play Assassin Creed? Battlefield? Halo? SSBB? Gears of War? God of War? Any sports game like Madden ect..? Than guess what? Your a hypocrite! None of the gamesI mentioned have changed very much over the years, that's right even Battlefield, same two modes and same gameplay as Bad Company and same bad campaign (you know it'strue). There are ALOT of other games I left out, but the fact is that you buy probably buy alot of games that don't change much in their sequels. That makes you a hypocrite.

3. COD haters often say that the series isn't as "hardcore" as other games, well I hate to break it to you but "hardcore" is a damn joke and anyone that thinks they are"hardcore" because they play a video game is kidding themselves. Battlefield isn't more "hardcore" than COD, I would actually argue that the only "hardcore" thing about Battlefield is the waiting. Yep I said it, all you do in the game is walk around for hours trying to get to the base and you rarely ever shoot anyone, the session is full but you rarely ever come across people to shoot in the game, I call it Waiting Field. Also there are some pretty "hardcore" COD players out there and they defiantely kick ass on the game, also if your Xbox Live gamertag is set to PRO, than just lol at you. Your not PRO silly, you don't get paid to play games.

So as you can clearly see, all COD haters are hypocrites. You all play the game, you all play other games that don't change much, and there is no such thing as "hardcore". The reason why COD sells well is because alot of people like the games, and the gameplay doesn't change much because it doesn't have to, it's near perfect. No other FPS even comes close to that except mabey Killzone 3. Also your COD hate opinoin doesn't matter, you are in the minority in real life and you know it, hell you own COD probably yourself but you just don't want to admit it.

COD will change when the fans demand it, as of right now they seem to be happy. Only bad thing IMO about COD is the over priced map packs, I don't buy those I get them for FREE from a couple friends that do (PSN has gamesharing, lol xbox) :P

And how do you figure that? to me, it's nowhere even near that title, me hombre. Just Cause 2 is better, of course JC2 is one of the most fun games ever made.

A lot was different back then.

turtlethetaffer

I know that Battlefield was bigger than CoD before 2007. I just reacted to your stupid statement that it was bigger than CS, which it wasn't.

Point is Battlefield has never been the top dog. First it was Doom, then CS, then came Halo and now CoD.

It was still one of the best. Just because something isn't number one doesn't make it awful, you dumbass.

I respect people's opinion and if they like BF. It doesn't bother me, I myself find the series to be technically impressive but awfully boring.

I was not talking about basic modding knowledge, more about how laughable it is to state that modders turned Stalker into a masterpiece.

WickoSicko

This coming from the guy who thinks MW2 is a masterpeice.

MW2 is not a masterpiece in the same way as BioShock or Skyrim or CoD4.

But MW2 is factually the most fun video game on the planet.

*sigh* Really, we need some better trolls.

But factually speaking, because fun is objective, MW2 is the most fun game ever.

BF was way larger then CoD pre-2006. Anyone who thinks otherwise was born after 1995.

Clearly a person who thinks MW2 is more fun than any Battlefield game, Tribes game, Unreal game, or Quake game needs to actually play those other games.

So you think that if every CoD fan tried out one of the other games, they would leave CoD and switch to them?

Don't know if a good troll or just stupid.

Well that's WickedSicko for you. He must really suck at FPSs and the CoD series was the only one that would give him rewards for mediocrity. At the way he defends it, you think it may be his way of life.

MW2 is the most fun game of all time. Because it offers pure action with insanely addictive killstreaks and gameplay, nice modern graphics and amazing music and sound.

But it is not comparable to other games such as BioShock, that has an amazing atmosphere. So has Stalker, and Skyrim is just a masterstroke when it comes to adventuring.

There is different types of quality in games. Such as artistic, atmosphere, graphics, and fun.

His thread title is right.

Idiots saying how they have Activision "boycotted forever" and will never touch any game from them again. Then that special month of the year comes and every one of them buys CoD.

i have to admit i was one of those people.I really enjoy Call of duty.It truly is a Fun Game.

Do you work for activison or something?

I mean, addictive killstreaks? Really? You are addicted to getting free kills by pressing a button? Also amazing music and sound? You mean the derivative Black Hawk Down modern military music and studio baked sound for all of the guns and explosions? Seriously, Activision can't even spring for a proper recording studio.

Seriously, not a single one of the guns in CoD (since the first one in 2003 mind you) has sounded anything close to the real thing. They've never once bothered to make the guns sound the least bit authentic or even intimidating.

i wholeheartedly disagree. people can like what they want. just because i dont enjoy a certain game doesnt mean i should think everyone who enjoys it is a dumbass(no offense). im not saying that you are saying that but im just sayin.

'Acting cool on the internet'? That's what the people deluding themselves from criticism about a game they like, tend to think of naysayers. And that's some wonderful insecurity. Otherwise there's plenty of valid reasons to dislike the game, this side of like it. Go hate it if you want.

Once Call of Duty has died, it will be remembered as one of the greatest franchise in entertainment history.

It's amazing that no matter how good anything is, as long as it's popular and dominating everything else, it's going to be hated on more than anything else on the market.

turtlethetaffer

Just like Transformers will be remembered as the best action movies of all time, or the Bible as the best book of all time because of how popular it is.

Or how good of a singer Justin Beiber is... or how great of a video Friday was. Or how much of a masterpeice Twilight is.

Or how Gamespot is one of the best gaming news websites.

Oh **** I went there.

I agree with the topic. Esp people say don't change whats not broken. They didn't from CoD4. If they changed the game too much then people would complain its not a proper sequel. If you don't like CoD, don't buy it. Haters are just jealous of the success it has gotten. If people enjoy it, why do you care? Move on.

I don't knw about everybody else, but the reason why I dislike what Call of Duty is doing is because I am afraid it will cause other developers to do the same thing. I am a huge fan of smash bros, and one of the things that makes it interesting is how much new content they pack into the newest game. I would hate it if they made smash bros every year with the exact same mechanics and physics as the last game, and only added about two characters and maybe a new level. I wouldn't mind however if its online was half as good as Call of Duty's lol.

Because it influences so many other games, thats why. Why do you think games like homefront and the new xcom FPS happened? Because they saw the success of CoD, and they tried to make a cash cow.
