[QUOTE="BlackAceII"]I agree with the topic. Esp people say don't change whats not broken. They didn't from CoD4. If they changed the game too much then people would complain its not a proper sequel. If you don't like CoD, don't buy it. Haters are just jealous of the success it has gotten. If people enjoy it, why do you care? Move on.kris9031998Because it influences so many other games, thats why. Why do you think games like homefront and the new xcom FPS happened? Because they saw the success of CoD, and they tried to make a cash cow. And this is somehow CoD's fault for people trying to copy? Everyone tries to copy each other... 3D dot heroes trying to copy zelda and failed. The CoD clones will keep failing, even killzone 3 fans are hating it for trying to be CoD. Once people understand no one can beat the original CoD series then it will stop.

i have over 15,000 kills in black ops and 7,000 kills in Modern warfare 3 and i still come back for more.those games provide tons of fun and Lulz.
and on top of that i still love other shooters like Battlefield as well.
its ok to like both, guys..i know, its shocking!!!!

It isnt, when you think about it. Activision, while evil, i must say were ...smart. They thought of a way to make millions within a generic fps shooter with a unlock-based multiplayer. MW2 is the most fun game of all time. Because it offers pure action with insanely addictive killstreaks and gameplay, nice modern graphics and amazing music and sound.
Wasdie
Do you work for activison or something?
I mean, addictive killstreaks? Really? You are addicted to getting free kills by pressing a button? Also amazing music and sound? You mean the derivative Black Hawk Down modern military music and studio baked sound for all of the guns and explosions? Seriously, Activision can't even spring for a proper recording studio.
Seriously, not a single one of the guns in CoD (since the first one in 2003 mind you) has sounded anything close to the real thing. They've never once bothered to make the guns sound the least bit authentic or even intimidating.
You forgot to show him THIS!

Well that's WickedSicko for you. He must really suck at FPSs and the CoD series was the only one that would give him rewards for mediocrity. At the way he defends it, you think it may be his way of life.
cod rewards good players to the point where it nullifies any rewards for mediocre gameplayI dont "hate it" but i m sick of it, i played the crap out of COD4 and i putted some hours on mw2 and i m done with it. I dont care about cod and i dont care about Battle field. F**** fps!I hate CoD. Call the FBI. Sue me.

As to why people hate COD: EA has made literally 20 games out of COD, I'm not just talking about the modern ones. Their way of convincing people to purchase the game is that if one friend buys it for online another 5 friends end up buying it to play online. COD isn't the best game to show change either, you don't really see much advancements unless you compare the first COD ever made compared the the recent one made. COD also has a flat story that no one is really interested in (some people are but really, how many of you guys actually like it?). God of War you get a story that continues on, new weapons that feel like you're doing new things, and new settings. While in COD you mostly get wastelands or boring cities to fight in. No atmosphere, nothing. Another thing is that COD has almost the worst campaign out of all the fps I've played in my opinion. I've played Deus Ex, Crysis, Killzone, and some other games and even their campaigns are a bajillion times better. COD is geared towards online play that you eventually end up paying $60 for, then about 6 months later they make a new game so everyone ends up buying another COD because all their friends moved on to the new game. It is a tiring process and I can understand this hate. I have COD modernwarfare 1 and 2 but I thought it wasn't worth spending for another one.shadowchronicle
I strongly disagree with regards to COD's SP being the worst, I think it is the best military single palyer series out there, from the old COD's all the way to MW3, I loved following those characters all the way till the MW3 conclusion, as well as Treyarch's Black Ops which was simply amazing, as for the worst SP I'd refer to the borefest which is the DICE produced single player campaigns, Bad Company series and BF3, couldnt finish any of them,
...on another note I still don't get how it's COD's fault that other developers try to copy them, shouldn't fans be angry at the copy cats? Did activision point a gun to other developers and force them to copy COD? It's the other developer's fault for trying to take the easy route and ride on COD's success, trying to emulate the formula COD has perfected instead of working on coming out with something of their own, Activision is just doing it's thing on it's own corner, what other developers choose to do is on them, not Acti, you guys should be angry at the copy cats but I know its easier to hate on Activision huh,
Ok, I have to ask this right now...am I really the only CoD hater who actually doesn't play the games? Cuz it's really starting to sound odd reading peoples posts about how they go out and buy CoD even though they hate it so much.percechClearly a myth perpetrated by CoD-addicts.
if it wasnt the same game for the past decade id probably hate it less along with the stupid community.other then that it's a alright game just not worth 60$ cause it's.....oh yea the same game! as it's previous installments
All these people who say they hate COD are complete and total phonies. And I can easliy prove it, wacth:
1. You can check just about any COD haters PS3/360 Gamertag and you will find that they play COD on a regular basis, and that they have a fair amount of trophies/achievements for it. Ya you really hate COD don't ya? Your not fooling anyone, stop trying to act "cool" on the internt (which is just silly, only I'm cool on the internet and real life)
2. You COD haters say the series doesn't change much, fair enough it reallyhasn't, and you say that's why you hate it. Well here is where the hypocirisy comes in, do you play Assassin Creed? Battlefield? Halo? SSBB? Gears of War? God of War? Any sports game like Madden ect..? Than guess what? Your a hypocrite! None of the gamesI mentioned have changed very much over the years, that's right even Battlefield, same two modes and same gameplay as Bad Company and same bad campaign (you know it'strue). There are ALOT of other games I left out, but the fact is that you buy probably buy alot of games that don't change much in their sequels. That makes you a hypocrite.
3. COD haters often say that the series isn't as "hardcore" as other games, well I hate to break it to you but "hardcore" is a damn joke and anyone that thinks they are"hardcore" because they play a video game is kidding themselves. Battlefield isn't more "hardcore" than COD, I would actually argue that the only "hardcore" thing about Battlefield is the waiting. Yep I said it, all you do in the game is walk around for hours trying to get to the base and you rarely ever shoot anyone, the session is full but you rarely ever come across people to shoot in the game, I call it Waiting Field. Also there are some pretty "hardcore" COD players out there and they defiantely kick ass on the game, also if your Xbox Live gamertag is set to PRO, than just lol at you. Your not PRO silly, you don't get paid to play games.
So as you can clearly see, all COD haters are hypocrites. You all play the game, you all play other games that don't change much, and there is no such thing as "hardcore". The reason why COD sells well is because alot of people like the games, and the gameplay doesn't change much because it doesn't have to, it's near perfect. No other FPS even comes close to that except mabey Killzone 3. Also your COD hate opinoin doesn't matter, you are in the minority in real life and you know it, hell you own COD probably yourself but you just don't want to admit it.
COD will change when the fans demand it, as of right now they seem to be happy. Only bad thing IMO about COD is the over priced map packs, I don't buy those I get them for FREE from a couple friends that do (PSN has gamesharing, lol xbox) :P

I will disect this piece by piece and prove you wrong.
1. I do not hate call of duty, I find the past 4 games a waste of money. I own one call of duty game and that is Modern warfare. I bought this game because I felt it was where the most improvements were made. I hate the CoD series for milking a once great series for money.
2. Exactly. I hate CoD because it really hasn't changed since MW (with the exception of zombies). And I own Assassins Creed, but only the first one. I own none of the other games in the list you posted.
3. No it isn't hardcore. A 12 year old could play CoD for a week and get a great k/d ratio. I play counter strike. Counter strike relies on pure skill alone. No weapon unlocks, no airstrikes, just the guns you buy. Everyone starts out with the same ammount of money. That is a hardcore game.
Price of CoD games is terrible. Not only do they not change, but they charge a ton for it too. Black ops is currently the same price as MW3. And MW2 is $40.
There I did it. Now I'm going to bed.
I hate CoD because its so successful and stealing the sales of so many awesome games. It really is a yearly rehash that just rakes in sooooo much money. The thing with Halo and even Gears (which I hate) is they aren't yearly releases. Activision isn't taking the profits from the last game and putting it towards better tech, their own staff, or better writers (for the love of god they need better writers). Its a fun little game, but I hate how its so damn popular when other games are overlooked.
People don't hate CoD because its a rehash, because its not hardcore, or because they want to seem cool, they hate it because it is a rehash that JUST KEEPS SELLING when other, better games release every year.
[QUOTE="ShadowMoses900"]
But you still play COD....so you buy a game that you don't like and play it every year when they release a new one? I never said it was the best FPS of all time, but if you don't like then why do you play it? I don't like Battlefield very much, so I don't play it. I would like to see the COD series change a little, but it's not that big of a deal to me really. Only thing I don't like in COD is the sniping, it's really easy and you can just run up and quick scope people if you want. In other games like Killzone for instance the sniping is very different and trying to quick scope would get you killed fast.
Wasdie
I bought it because I thought I would try it. I'll admit I had fun with Black Ops because I didn't buy MW2 so I hadn't really played CoD in 2 years.
I've always enjoyed CoD campaigns, but even this one was just flat out average in every way possible. Severly disappointed to the point where I've just given up on the series. Black Op's campaign was only a bit better, but not by much.
Also you probably forget that CoD started on the PC. CoD 1, CoD UO, and CoD 2 are easily the best games in the series with CoD 4 following close behind. This was because they were initially made for the PC. Once the focus was on trying to make the games far more accessible for the console crowd, the crowd which they generated the most sales from CoD 4, the game was doomed. When WaW came out, I bought it a few months later because I was really bored and I remember that year being particularly slow for video games. I played it, enjoyed it a bit, but I knew the game series was pretty much turning into nonsense. MW2's bullcrap with no PC support at all really pissed me off. They fixed that with Black Ops and at least Treyarch tries to make a game balanced, unlike IW and Sledgehammer.
I'll be skipping Black Ops unless they do something really different. Now that BF3 is out and they'll be supporting the game with some really good DLC this year, I don't see a reason for me to pick up CoD ever again.
u didnt really answer the question. if u just wanted to try it why didnt u just rent it, or borrow it or something.
COD is a fine franchise and the developers they do listen and they do try and deliver.
People are just making it seem like the worst game ever. When its not, its a blast.
Theres always a few things wrong in every multiplayer game and they do try and fix it.
And if you play COD or any multiplayer game with friends.. even better.
Also, whats even better, if you play both COD and BF3..
Ones that don't, are the ones who loose out.
Waaah, someone doesn't like my precious CoD so I'm going to make a thread on the internet and call all of them hypocrites. Wahhh. Look at me b*tch and moan, I want attention, waahh.
Ok, I have to ask this right now...am I really the only CoD hater who actually doesn't play the games? Cuz it's really starting to sound odd reading peoples posts about how they go out and buy CoD even though they hate it so much.percech
Nope. I haven't bought a CoD game since WaW way back when it was on sale. I got it for like 25 bucks on PC then.
I played the free weekends for Black Ops and MW2 when they had them on Steam just so I could "give them a chance" without losing any money of course. It only confirmed my distaste for the games even further; what horrible games they were. I was even doing awesome, going like 17 - 5 or something similiar for many of the maps, but I still hated it... And then I played Nuketown... and I absolutely despised them.
Dude, EVERYONE thinks COD is repetitive and stupid, but that doesn't mean we can't have fun playing it. I love the games, even if I hate people saying that they are always fresh, which they are not. I don't own any, and I rarely play them, so I don't know if I count as someone being hypocritical, I just think they are satisfying as all hell.
