One thing that confuses me is why all the hate on KZ SP? Pacing was fine,AI was fine, levels were fine. Only thing meh was story/characters. I heard its all been done before from some users then how can they praise COD4 when its been done before to.

jg4xchamp

The AI while just as stupid as the AI in COD 4, just doesn't have some of the more thrilling sequences to make up for it. Killzone 2s formula is very COD like, but it lacks the sheer intensity that COD has always had(for me atleast). On elite it's there, but I find Elite to do what Veteran Does in COD 4. Instead of being a rewarding hard difficulty, it's just way more cheap.

The narrative sucks, plain and simple. COD 4 may be telling the same plot all over again from other war shooters, but its done in a convincing way and rarely takes you out of the experience. The initial run through is just memorable, that nuke sequence is worthy of all the praise it got in my opinion.

It suffers some of the same flaws as COD 4. Which is that its incredibly scripted. This kills some replay value for some people(me for one). Some it won't be a problem, others it will be. Me personally COD 4 on its first run is fantastic but short, but on other runs its just really good. Killzone 2 just peaked at average to me, and on other runs it was entering mediocre territory.

The campaign for all 3 really isn't special though to be honest. All 3 are AAA status more for there strong multiplayer than there campaigns. Although imo COD 4s campaign was actually good compared to the other 2 but thats another arguement entirely.

I think what made CoD4's campaign so memorable was that same thing that detracted from its narrative. In my eyes, CoD4's focus was less on story and more on the visceral experience of the game. What little story there was provided only a barebones framework for the action. The action was so good, that it overshadowed the story to the point where the plot was forgettable and ultimately irrelevant. So yeah... the strength of CoD4's campaign was action, not story. But... that's not to say this is a bad thing. Infinity Ward knows what they're doing. Their sense of action/story balance is what makes it such a great game.

Agree with this completely. The shooting in CoD4 was very satisfying, and it really felt like you were hitting people with a gun (unlike other games with bullet sponges). Its fast paced, light on story, and just provides enough to keep you pushing through. All these games play very differently IMO, but I probably enjoyed CoD4 and Halo 3's campaigns equally, but mostly because Halo 3 had co-op which was alot of fun. Killzone 2 felt like I was playing Gears of War in first person.

All three had pretty bland stories. As for the campaigns I would say CoD4 is the best. Not because of story but how the sp plays out.

I played all three. COD4 wins when it comes to the best story and the most immersive gameplay. Halo 3 just has the best over all weapons and the combat on Heroic just forces you to always play smart so when you beat a level its very satisfying. KZ2 has the worst story but the cover mechanic just feels natural and makes the super insanely difficult gameplay fun instead of frustrating. If you had a gun to my head I'd give Halo 3 the edge to win for best story. Hard to pick one they each do at least one thing really well in the single player campaign.

Here is where each game fails. COD4: Enemy respawning. Come on now let me CLEAR an area dammit!!! Halo 3: Vehicles control like butt. The Flood continue to suck. KZ2: Weapon variety is slim to nil. Vehicle level feels forced and akward. (Mech? Really?) More enemy variety would be nice.

Halo 3. The "Finish the Fight!" mostly lived up to its hype. COD4 had a pretty good story as well, but I never get to attached to them.

Call of Duty 4's story obviously, there is just so much work into it and its so intriguing. Halo 3's story is pretty incomprehensible and the cliffhanger is just a bit annoying, but it is an interesting story and lacks the cliches other sci fi games tend to have. Killzone 2 doesn't really try to have a story really, its basically "you and a bunch of other soldiers are invading Helghan"... thats it, although at least you can't say anything too bad about it for the simplicity, since it really does get to the point.

For me its CoD4, Halo 3, then Killzone 2.

COD4 story and KZ2 story felt on the same level. Basicly the meh level.Hell if you want to make KZ2 simple I can do the same for COD4 "go stop terrorist".

Out of those I would say CoD4. The other two focus more on large "epic" stories whereas CoD4 is mostly a few soldiers and their war. I'll take a normal modern war story with well written characters who actually have some feeling to them before the "epic" stories. CoD4 still managed to have some pretty awesome set pieces though.

I have not played Halo 3, however I am completely engrossed in the Halo Universe and absolutely love the feel of the campaign in that game from what I have played. So I will go with Halo 3.

However, I will follow that up or even tie it with CoD4 and then Killzone 2.

In all honesty, none of these games stories really made much sense to me, and I just wanted to play it for the action bits. If I want a story in a shooter, Ill play mah Uncharted 2 which looks much more promising.

People don't seem to understand that what makes CoD4's story so great is the same thing that makes Pulp Fiction great, they both have pretty simple stories to tell, but it's the character interaction and the dialogue that makes them awesome. CoD4's characters, for the SAS parts at least, seem like this realistic tight knit group of soldiers, led by this father figure of Captain Price. When this is put opposite to Halo 3 with its expansive universe and storyline that tries to be epic but just ends but being boring as hell, and Killzone 2, which from what I hear has a simple story, but tries to wrap it up in this epic sci fi universe too (the intro cinematics of all the KZ games are an example, they seem epic, but if you listen to what the guy is saying, it's really generic sci fi nonsense), makes CoD seem so much more pure, and I like the simplicity of it.

Same for me.

Me too, COD4 had a great campaign. A few memorable COD4 campaign moments "nobody makes the first jump" "that's a kill" as you are raining down bullets on from the plane; and the suspense of hiding from the tanks and troops as they sweep the area

are you guys serious with the Halo 3 campaign? How the hell is it winning? I'm not saying that the other games have a campaign that's way better, but there's no ****ing that the Halo 3 campaign beats all of those. The majority of people who love halo play it because of the online gameplay, NOT THE CAMPAIGNS. You can't even argue against me on that one.

CoD4 for sure, followed by Halo 3 in a semi-close second. Killzone 2 is last, a very far last. The campaign was pretty week in that game, multiplayer was good though.
