The key point is one is optional and one is not.

Either way it is a useless gimmick, until they prove to me otherwise.

So in order to take full advantage of the PS4s' abilities one must buy peripherals. If an Xbox One owner buys their console, they always have access to those features if they ever decide to use them. I see the point in the PS4 having options but when that one killer app comes out 3 years from now that requires PS Eye, it's going to suck wishing you already had the Eye.Spartan070

I have yet to see a killer app for the kinect, so I'm not going hold my breath for one being released on the PS Eye. 

I've been waiting for one. With the 360, I wanted that one game that would make me desire the kinect. This never happened.
