This game is like 2x the price of my normal regional pricing of a triple a game. It's near the price of Steam's Gold Edition of Shadow of War then add 0.50 USD

Just stahp, Sega. Jesus. Take the hint from Mania's positive reception - nobody wants this kind of trash, especially NOT Sonic fans.
Sonic fans still will eat this up, especially @uninspiredcup, who's still in denial for Super Mario Odyssey grand sales and stellar reviews.
Let me know when Sega comes to there senses and make Sonic Adventure 3.
I thought Sonic Heroes and Sonic 2006 was Sonic Adventure 3 and 4? XP
SW rubbishes Polygon all the time. And now SW is using Polygon to rubbish a game. How ironic.
Polygon is still rubbish, but Sonic Mania and Mario Odyssey killed all hype for Sonic Forces.
@boycie:
One of the things I've learned is that people enjoy games very differently than I do and playing Sonic games is just a part of that. I actually really liked Sonic '06 and Unleashed despite popular opinion. So yeah, I'll still pick it up regardless. That was never really a question.
The wii version of unleashed was decent. What little I tried of the hd version was awful. i felt sonic controlled decently in the wii version compared to the hd version.Never played 06.
In all reality sonic mania was trash as well.
It had an amazing first level then the game went progressively downhill with each stage, turning into pure shit with the water level. It never recovered.
Music was top notch though
Sonic tradition is to make every game identical to the last one. And if there is any innovation, it is always to the worse.

Now thats just wrong. Mania is killer.
@drrollinstein: you must have incredibly low standards for games
Have you played the game? Because its hella fun. Being bad at the water level doesnt make it a bad game. GG at platformers.
@TheEroica: Polygon? You are using Polygon? the same people who gave Shadow Warrior 2 a 5/10? yeah try harder OP.
I've never seen uninspired go into troll mode so hard because I called out the fact that every level 1 of every sonic is the same :/
Eh, from the initial release Genesis/MS/GG Green Hill Zone was used across multiple platforms. Renamed "Green Hills Zone" on the 8-bit thanks to a bad translation.
It's not really some revelation or hidden secret, and i've pretty much done more shitting on 3D Sonic than you ever will lol
But attempting to criticize it for auto-play elements, while simultaneously lauding Call Of Duty and New Colossus?
Come on son.
1. Dude, your trolling is really bad.
2. I just said one thing about Sonic and you became instantly irritated
3. All I ever said was I'm having fun with New Colossus and the newest COD. Yeah, I'm having fun with those games and you keep making a big deal out of that.
4. You haven't played New Colossus
5. You haven't played COD WWII
6. You haven't played Sonic Forces
7. You're kind of a jerk, that quickly becomes irritated and starts attacking games another person likes for no reason whatsoever, other than being a jerk.

You're resorting to personal attacks for a completely valid (100% correct), criticism.
I am a jerk though.

If it was a troll, you were triggered.
If it was valid, you were misinformed and hypocritical.
Sour grapes won't change that.
@drrollinstein: yes, I bought it on PS4. That's why I praised the music and can speak from experience how downhill the game gets as you progress.

I still wouldn't call it trash though lol. No reason to jump to extremes.
It's not broken, it's not terribly designed, it's just a mediocre platformer. Vibrant visuals, nice music, slick presentation all around, and some average gameplay. Personally about a 6/10, but I can see an argument for 7.
Sega, please, get rid of the entire Sonic Team. Sonic Mania is the perfect example of it being possible to create good Sonic titles. Sonic Team just doesn't know what they are doing.
@ArchoNils2: Hey they did a good job of Puyo Puyo Tetris. Maybe rename them the Puyo Puyo Team. :)
Okay, I give you that. It was a fun game, a bit overpriced and the story mode was horrible, but I did like the gameplay
@ArchoNils2: The story itself was horrible but I thought the challenges did a very good job of teaching the different skills in the game(s).

Yeah i agree, gameplay was great. I just really hated the "story" and I still think it's a hefty price for a puzzle game. If it wasn't so early in the Switchs life, I probably wouldn't have bought it at that price point.
Every gamer and his grandma should have known the next 3d Sonic game, after those other 20 3d Sonic games before it sucked, would indeed suck.
Obviously they are selling, though. So I see no reason why they would stop making this crap.
Uh... Colors (Wii) and Generations (PS3, 360)? Not sure what the hell happened that made Sonic Team suck again.
Wont lie the trailer got me hyped....I might bargain bin it one day like I do most sonic when I need that itch scratched

The vast majority of Mario games (especially the newer 2D stuff) start with the same grassy themed level. They just give them different names...
@TheEroica: I actually enjoyed about 2/3 of Sonic Lost World. I had moderate hope for this. Oh well.
Decided to pre-order it last night and I played over an hour of it this morning before I had to come to work. It's been pretty easy, but I'm having fun with it. I'm excited to get back to it tonight. I'll have to get Sonic Mania soon too
@uninspiredcup: I won't play it until the evening over here, but supposedly a patch was just released that fixes most of the crashes. I don't know what's happened to SEGA Europe, but they've been off with PC releases as of late.

Err, techincally not true. Most so called innovations and new styles were simply copied from other video games. Sonic Pinball, and Sonic 3D are good examples of this.

Huh?
Oh yea, forgot about the introduction of the spin-dash are well, instant momentum.
Meanwhile Mario on NES was an amazing platformer
No, it isn't. Even Alex Kidd is a better platformer, let alone Sonic.
That's your opinion man,
meanwhile I still love replaying NES mario games on SNES with Super Mario All-stars
