Um, no. Most PC gamers I know have at least 50-60 games from Steam sales alone.

And if you're referring to most games not needing a higher end PC, you're still wrong. A lot of us are playing Far Cry 3, Battlefield 3, Skyrim with mods, the Crysis series, The Witcher 2, etc. There are plenty of high quality games that require high end PCs to be maxed out.

My buddy played witcher 2 on a dell laptop with a 540m.. please don't go there. You don't need a high end PC to play those games.

To play them well? Yes. My GTX 670 doesn't max TW2 out. If you're going with this angle, you could have ran Rome 2 with a GTX 200 series. Any other angles that defeat your own point?

[QUOTE="UCF_Knight"][QUOTE="GD1551"]So it's not very farfetched that I'd buy a new PC for a couple games.GD1551

One game. All of the other games you mentioned could be ran on much cheaper hardware. So you spent over a thousand dollars to play one game well and that's not crazy?

Ugh yeah? I mean how many PC games take advantage of expensive PCs?

EDIT: Poor sentence construction.

It's not the point of the game to take advantage of hardware. It's the hardware that takes advantage of the game. Any idiot can play on a 3 year old mid-end setup at console settings, or you can spend a $1000 now and play every game in stunning 1080p (or higher) with 60fps and ultra settings.

Or played BF3 on a high setting..or played the Crysis series.. or played Far Cry 3. lol It takes a hell of a setup to max out any of those games at a high resolution.

You can barely run empire with that, why would I expect Rome to run properly on it? Plus I want to see Rome in all its glory with all the details and running smoothly, unlike FC3 and those other games where you are dishing out extra money to put on x16 AA @ 1080p (which isn't even necessary) and the only reason your 670 doesn't max TW2 is because of ubersampling, which is just stupid and doesn't make the game look noticeably better.

You've admirably sailed past the point. Many games require high end PCs to be played on their highest settings at high resolutions. There are plenty of games to prove this, so this negates your idea that a lot of high end PC owners are only seeing the benefits of their hardware in one game. You used this to defend the idea of purchasing an entire platform to play one game. Since that idea is untrue, your purchase is still as crazy as ever. The game isn't even close to release, so I don't know who you think you're fooling by saying everything was for the purchase of that one game. But of course you can't say otherwise, or that may risk admitting the PC has a discernible amount of PC games to be played. Which, going back to your original asinine claim, would defeat the idea of a PC being useless when you own a console. This has been great. I'll see you in the next PC bashing thread.

I agree. If I thought PC gaming was overrated and I was better of with a console, I'd consider the money spent on the PC as sunk cost. I'd cut my losses and not spend another dime on it.

I also remember him wanting a quiet PC which was the main reason for him wanting a new video card. If I really wanted a quiet PC and not game on it, I would've just take out the video card and used the Intel graphics.

Bebi_vegeta

I returned the reference GTX 670 and got a Asus DirectCU GTX 670, the Asus is literally like 3 times quieter. But no, my 5870+ was plenty quiet enough, I always want more power.

Ha, told ya!

not really understanding your sarcasm..sorry..what I said is fact though. No matter how much hate people like me get. Sure I play pc games "some"..but every time its 20min or a week getting things to work..PC has more bugs when it comes to gaming then a slumhouse in new york..sorry..truth man..

With PC, you get a tiny monitor screen, mundane sound, while all hunched over, with an awkward keyboard that is too difficult to handle and has sooo many buttons that have no actual use, it gets confusing. Only +? technically proficient graphics. All these PC fanboys be like "PC got better than sh!t console"..... ya, and? I prefer my consoles. Consoles are where my heart in gaming is. Without consoles, my game life would be non-existent. I have done PC gaming before.... sucked. Just too awkward, I just cant get over that keyboard. Uggg.

Heres the thing, I can do all that with my PC too...plus mods.

yes pc gamers will tell you otherwise, its easier, its more portable, its more streamlined, ease of use, console gaming is bigger than PC gaming, but pc gamers wont tell you that either, so really cant even argue that cant even accept facts.Mr720fan
Console gaming isn't bigger, if anything, they are the same size roughly. Thats a common misconception.

Because if you are a console gamer you cant list a paragraph of all the PC parts used to build something that does the same thing as a XBOX 360 or PS3 for the most part in your sig!! I always love how the hermits always resort to "you know you can build a gaming PC for $400"!! Yet, when you look at the rig in their sig, it is probably 8x that price!!ShoTTyMcNaDeS
My PC was $400...

All entirely possible with a PC aswell. And KB/M is better for alot of genres than a Gamepad.

If you had to do that, your TV is some weird resolution. End of story. You know what it takes for me play games from my laptop on my TV, using a controller? I plug the laptop into the TV with an HDMI cord. I plug my xbox controller into the laptop via USB. I double click a game icon from steam. Done.

Things have changed since the 90s. Get with the times.

I actually had that problem once. Happens on some TV's when you use VGA or component. He used a VGA cable or a component cable. But who still uses those anymore right? I fixed it by buying a 6$ HDMI cable off of Newegg.... If you use HDMI you won't have to worry about a thing. Completely plug and play.

i'm sorry must be sad to have a 10 year old pc then wanting a new one and not being able to have one proceed to bash it to feel good about it.

I change my v card or my pc once every 2-3 years, since hdmi arrived like 10 years ago i've never had to "dig" any options unless i wanted an advance feature like dual monitors or something like that. If you just want your pc on tv is plug and play. And the fuking lazyness of some people to use their brain is what has society in the pathetic state it is. You'd rather have a blurry mess with lower graphics and jaggies everywhere because its too fuking hard for your tiny brain to look an option, disgusting. Thats why people like you never go out of their parents basement, go back to your mcdonalds job you dont have to think there.

It's crazy we have pretty damn good technology now but by the time we had that technology all the gameplay had already been done so it's boring because the gameplay's the same as decades ago but the level designs and missions are even easier and crappier

They both have their ups and downs and I'm glad I have both. I do hook up my PC to my TV and use a controler though so that argument fails. One thing everyone always seems to ignore is how, PS3 games at least, tend to have better sound. It's infurating how so many PC games have terrible surround sound support and even though hooking up a PC to an HDTV is simple getting it to work with a Home theater surround sound system is terrible.

Really? That's a shame. I've recently ordered a converter box which is supposed to be able to convert HDMI sound to digital optical. I'd need something like that if I want to connect my PC to my surround speakers, since the receiver doesn't have HDMI in.

I'm hoping for the best, but it sounds like I may be sticking with consoles for most multiplats next gen too. I've got headphones to simulate surround sound. It's pretty good sound quality, but not as good as my speakers. The sound through them from the PS3 games is so good.

Elementary school must have been very difficult for you, huh?

Yes, PC gaming can take a little bit of time to get settings right. If you don't have a few hours to set aside to build the PC, and then 2 minutes before the first time you play a game, then you are very busy and clearly your time is too precious. The gaming experience offered by PCs with nice hardware is just so good. If it wasn't, then I would get the simpler console version, but PCs look and run better, as well as offer mods, as well as offer more genres, as well as offer mouse/keyboard support, as well as have Steam sales, as well as have dedicated servers, as well as... I'll just stop there. PC gaming is better, for a tad bit of effort.

Plugging in speakers is hard now?

I've used surround sound with my old desktop, and my laptop. Takes about 3 seconds to set up. I take the audio cables from my surround speakers... and I plug them into the sound ports on the PC/laptop... and I have surround sound. Worst case scenario, I have to right click the volume icon, go to "playback devices", and make sure the HDMI isn't being used as default. As for the games, themselves. Yeah, some don't have good surround support. Not really a big deal. Just about anything remotely recent does have it, and setting it up requires nothing more than 2 mouse clicks to get to audio options, then 2-3 mouse clicks to scroll some slider over from "2 speakers" to "5.1 surround".

Again, things have changed since the 90s.

i'm sorry must be sad to have a 10 year old pc then wanting a new one and not being able to have one proceed to bash it to feel good about it.

You're confusing a lack of desire to configure and troubleshoot with a lack of ability to do so. I make a career out of solving technical issues; why would I want to solve more on my time off?

Its like, with a console, I can hook it into a big 50+ inch HD TV, with surround sound, and lay back in my cushioned gaming chair with a comfortable, easy to handle controller that fits in my hands perfectly............... Uggg.Kevlar101

Are consolites really this stupid? Do consolites not realise the PC has THE MOST OPTIONS of displays, controllers, peripherals and software of all?

Get a clue a PC can hook up to far more dveices than your puny console can.
