You don't need to 'get the most out of the game' in order to perform better than consoles.

[QUOTE="Jamex1987"][QUOTE="shadow_hosi"] clearly having the most AAAE and AAE by far and having virtually every genre in existence not to mention being able to play even the oldenst games is limiting yourself more than a little box that can only play games from it and MAYBE the one before it. and having to rebuy everything older than that to work on it. not to mention the freedom of doing many many other things like streaming music(while playing games) without having to deal with a terrible interface to load different albums. yep just so much more limited. i think jamex is right we should all quit pc gaming cus its just to free. we clearly cant compete on a game scale because there is just so many other things we can do on itkozzy1234

Find me some good sports games on PC an don't tell me NBA 2k9 which is a gimped version of the Xbox version. PES though I never played it seems to be the only sports games being released for PC that isn't significantly gimped. I can't wait to play Fight Night round 4! When was the last PC boxing game? Limiting yourself to Pc games might not be a bad thing if you consifer yourself a hermit and you have no friends that come over because 2 player on PC isn't exactly popular.

Fifa 09 is awesome on pc and NBA2k9 i own for both 360 and PC and i enjoy the pc version more.

You enjoy NBA on PC more? No automatic roster updates and no online play. Definately the superior verision.

[QUOTE="VoodooGamer"]

I'm a PC gamer, and the only console I own is a PS2. But I've grown bored of arguing for the PC, so now I'm going to switch teams for a bit. Anyway, the console is better for these reasons:

A console is convenient
Having a PC running correctly isn't exactly rocket science either.
You don't have to worry about tweaking anything
I never do any tweaking with any of my games other than setting all settings to "High".
You don't have to update drivers
That takes like 10 minutes and only happens like twice a year.
You don't have to worry about conflicting processes such as AVG and Steam
Never run into any problems with that.
The games are better
Debatable, although a lot of multiplats are on the PC, which makes this a weak point.
The graphics look good and the system only costs $400 bucks
PCs don't cost much more than that nowadays, and the graphics are better.
It's cheaper to game on
The games are ten dollars more expensive at launch and don't go down in price nearly as fast.
You can lay on your couch while playing
You can do this with a PC, too, if it's hooked up to your livingroom TV. Besides, you can get awesome chairs which are just as comfy as couches.

stiltzsy

I've heard all this before a thousand times before.

Me too, but it's all garbage (the responses that is). Let's see you try to game and be competitive on a PC game while laying on your sofa. In regards to updating drivers...pretty much whenever you buy a cutting edge game I find I need to update my drivers (although it has gotten a bit better the last couple years). Yes you do need t tweak...if your FPS isn't what you want then it becomes a game of which graphic goody when turned off has the best bang for the buck (higher FPS) wiht least eyecandy impact.

I game competitively using my PC, whilst on a sofa. Not a problem, it's just a misconception that it's not possible, or people haven't tried it. It's awesomely comfortable.

You also do not need to update drivers everytime a cutting edge game comes out, that's garbage. All games will be compatible with the majority of older drivers. All new drivers will generally do is net you a slight performance enhancement, or fix compatability issues. Just keep them up to date, it takes like 5 mins to download and install them.

This is quite a bit of a misconception here. Heck, as is, most modern consoles have a relatively limited number of localized multiplayer games, and splitscreen gaming is going down the drain. Not to mention LANs for PC gaming number in the tens to thousands. You can still have a large group of friends while you play PC gaming.

Exactly.... although you probably wont change his mind, he just has it stuck in his mind that PC gaming is TEH SUCKORZ!

Like, my tower is right next to my tv, so if i plug in a 360 controller, it's couch city. lol but here i am now onthe floor with my keyboard and mouse all cramped up looking straight up to see my tv.... lol.... I was actually just looking for better ideas at how i could use my M&KB from the comfort of my couch....

I use the 360 version for online play and trounaments, while i use the pc version for the singleplayer/season mode with friends who come over. The pc version ahs better graphics and sound, PLUS i can do MY OWN roster/player updates, as it gives you much more freedom in the pc version for editing players,etc..

I paid 65$ for the 360 version and 15$ for the pc version, hate to say it but 50$ more just for online = not the greatest deal imo.

If you're really intent on using a keyboard on the sofa instead of a controller, which you can, just get a TV dinner tray. Cheap, efficient, and most of us couch goers have em.

consoles you gotta get up pop in disk and if you want to play a different game you gotta get up and change disk. while on pc once it's installed you dont need the disk, i lay down in my bed using 360 controller for crysis and ut3 and other games, but my mouse cursor is the analog lol, i dont have to get up to change disk or anything. console gaming is pointless except for exclusives they arent more convient.pcisgodfookcons
DRM says I need the disk even on PCs, unless you ONLY buy Steam games or discs without DRM, but then you just killed the huge library available to the PC. Really you play with the 360 laying down on your bed and play games like crysis and ut3...do you get any online kills like that, because one of the advantages of PC is KB+M, I know i'd get slaughtered trying to play a PC game with a controller.

Which doesn't change the fact that you can still use the controller if you so chose to. Besides, as far as DRM goes, that is more of a recent thing, and most recent games are on Steam. So I fail to see how you're 'killing the library".

i don't think i could fit BOTH my KB and M on a dinner try with enough room.. :( I have one of those (awesome, imo) Merc Stealth keyboards that have better access and control for most PC games, but unfortunately it's a little more long. Or do you mean put the KB on my lap and use the mouse in the tray? It's just that the only monitor I HAVE currently is my 1080p tv, so a desk isnt an option. lol

I know plenty of PC gamers who use a dinner tray and fit bot h a KB and M on it. It isn't all that hard.

I have a $20 table from ikea in front of mine aswell, just a small one, and it allows me to lie down and use my KB/M, and it's quite comfortable. Or I can sit up quite easily.

LoL...he wants you to use a dinner tray while laying on your back and/or side. I guess you could lay underneath the dinner tray (with the legs open so it stands above you. You can glue the keyboard up there and hold onto the mouse (Just don't let go). Or you can get a reallly strong magnet to hold the mouse to the surface of the tray while upside down. Then you can lay sideways on your back so your head can turn to the left (looking at the screen) while your arms are up in the air using the kb+m. That may even give you more of a workout than the wii does.

It works quite nicely (for myself), as I was just in ikea and picked it up. If I have a game which requires little use of a keyboard, i'll just throw n my 360 controller though.

You don't have to worry about tweaking anything-I have yet to tweak anything in/on my PC and I have had it over 3 years

You don't have to worry about conflicting processes such as AVG and Steam-Haven't had a problem here either
The games are better-Stop kidding yourself.
The graphics look good and the system only costs $400 bucks-After you factor in price difference in games and everything else, PC is actually cheaper.
It's cheaper to game on-It's cheaper on PC
You can lay on your couch while playing-You can also do this with your PC. ;)

I rest my case.

I wish PC tweaking was that easy. Where is that one time set it and all my games run like I like them to setting on the PC? I have to set it in each game I play. Oh wait, that's one of the reasons Console > PC IMO.

Very few games even really beenfit from a lot of tweaking. The ones that do all primarily use the same engines, so the R CONS are all the same.

Umm why would I do that if you're already right?

Anyway, the stuff OP said about tweaking and updating drivers seriously takes just as long as updates on my 360 and it's alsmost all automatic. Honestly, you'd have to not spend any time on a computer at all to be unable to do something.

[QUOTE="Jamex1987"]Consoles are a much better all around gaming solution if you ask me. Computers have many other uses and that's why we all have one. Some PC games are good but to be dedicated to only playing PC games is just limiting yourself. kozzy1234

LOL @ limiting yourself by beign a pc gamer haha, what a joke!

You limit yourself by ONLY playing on consoles, why not both?

IMO, Pick only one platform and gaming on only that single platform not matter what it is, is the best way to miss out of heaps of good games.

A console is convenient
You don't have to worry about tweaking anything
- And you CAN'T tweak anything even if you wanted
You don't have to update drivers
- Takes about 5 minutes 4 times a year for me.

You don't have to worry about conflicting processes such as AVG and Steam
- You also don't get the benefits of Steam, Xfire, Fraps etc.

The games are better
- Not as far as I'm concerned
The graphics look good and the system only costs $400 bucks
- At launch PS3 cost the same as mid-range gaming PC, atm you can pick up 4770 for 100 bucks which is more than a match for it

It's cheaper to game on
- Not necessarily, I spend about 400e to upgrade my PC for "this gen" and get cheaper games, free online and extra content

You can lay on your couch while playing
- I don't have a couch
or a HDTV, do they come bundled with consoles?

VoodooGamer

All the subjective arguments aside it always boils down to one advantage for each platform:

For PC - Ability to customize your experience.
For Consoles - Ease of use.

Controls are everything, along with custom modifcations that are quicker to make on the PC. There are several other things but I'm too lazy to type them out right now. I will say one thing, most AAA games go to consoles and get crappy ports to the PC (Gears, Halo, etc...). Mods pwn all that IMO :).

Console's clearly have the better games (for me anyway) just to ask what was the last AAA for Pc??? Crysis?? lmao (correct me if i'm mistaken)

I have not heard of a AAAA for pc,Chrono trigger(not rated but a 10 in my books)MGS4, tony hawkpro skater 3(10 on ps2, 9 on pc ;), and OOT:) clearly has the edge on pc. (is there one for pc??) Sure pc has good fps's but i prefer console's more. (half-life was ported to console, Quake was also ported to n64 lol sorry hermits, and yes doom was also ported to ps1 and snes. :( so where's all the claimed pc fps's??? when console's have halo (i kno 1 and 2 are on pc, but prefer console) Goldeneye, perfect dark, killzone 1/2. all of which is superior to that of pc. not trying to sound like a fanboy of consoles but its true in a way. PC has RT'S which is not my favourite genre. But most of them are on consoles aswell, Starcraft(1 not 2), supreme commander, (horrible console version but still a multiplat), Diablo came for PS (i kno rpg)

graphics are nice on pc, (saw some footage at a friends house) and wow L4D looked pretty nifty. But consoles have nice graphics too, just not a good as crysis or L4D. When you guys say that "multiplats are better" what so you mean by that?? maybe because they come out much later than consoles and improve on what console's did bad in. or is it just graphics? Please shed some light. Backwards combatibilty, has a favor in pc but i have most of the consoles so whenever i need to play it i will. but is tedious setting it up over and over again.

I think that both console and pc have their benefits and drawbacks. but i still prefer consoles. Games that are on console appeal to me more. i mean who doesnt like the ps2?? great exclusive libraby and all......

Standards are generally higher on the PC. That is why we don't have AAAA titles. You're not going to find a game with horrible bugs (Like GTA4) getting an AAAA any time soon on the PC. I could just as easily list games that I felt were above and beyond anything you listed, but that would just be a matter of opinion. The fact of the matter is that the PC has the most announced exclusives, highly rated titles, and diverse library out of any single platform.

so not true, i have never had to update my drivers. i honestly think that tweaking is a fun thing about PC gaming. there are mods for the game that are FREE. dlc isn't really anything great of a mod.

Yea but u cant just single out one platform. If u would combine all the consoles together, consoles would have better exclusives (imo) You could list games that you think are better than my list(i tend to like tons of games ;) just curious on other people like.

Unfortunately for you, the modern definition of consoles includes PCs. Because of the multimedia lean of modern consoles and the diverging skews and play styles, dictionaries have expanded the vernacular usage of console, and the new, broader definition includes the PC. So now, you have to compare it platform by platform.

From a non-technical point of view, going by popularity, number of desired games (both exclusive and multiplat), cultural influence, and profit made, Consoles > PC.

Going by popularity, PC wins; As NPD released a study saying the PC is the 'most played platform'. The PC has the most announced exclusives and highly rated titles, so it wins there. The PC allowed the games industry to survive the crash and it produced sites like all your base and others.... so it wins cultural too. Oh, and according to the PCGA, the PC is the single highest grossing platform....... What part of that did consoles win again?

I'm a PC gamer, and the only console I own is a PS2. But I've grown bored of arguing for the PC, so now I'm going to switch teams for a bit. Anyway, the console is better for these reasons:

  1. A console is convenient
  2. You don't have to worry about tweaking anything
  3. You don't have to update drivers
  4. You don't have to worry about conflicting processes such as AVG and Steam
  5. The games are better
  6. The graphics look good and the system only costs $400 bucks
  7. It's cheaper to game on
  8. You can lay on your couch while playing

VoodooGamer

  1. So then why are consoles trying to be more like PC's by adding updates, downloadable content and the like?
  2. Pushing "Next" a few times is SO hard.
  3. Hmm... never knew you didn't have to do this on consoles too.
  4. I've never had a problem with conflicting programs. That's just what you get for using free anti-virus software.
  5. Subjective.
  6. They look far better on PC's of comparable price.
  7. $60 console games, $50 PC games. Its cheaper to game on PC's.
  8. I guess its also a good thing that you can use te 360 gamepad, PS3 dualshock 3 and Wiimote on your PC with a Blutooth adapter.

OP fails to prove anything.

Alot of PC games are so deep that you can easily log 1000 hours into them and only pay the initial retail price. Thats why it can't be topped.

i meant every console. like NES snes, n64 etc. its not fair when hermits say doom, halflife, quake when they came out 10 years ago. This gen consoles have better exclsuives. imo.

Best backwards compatibility
Mods
Customization on everything
Does everything apart from gaming
Again customization
More satisfying and complex games (this is opinion, but PC greatest can't be done in consoles without being compromised)
Cheap

The best and biggest library in gaming.
