Controls.

Not only are the controllers not customizable, but you also have a very limited amount to choose from. And I'm just talking about normal gamepads.

I will give you examples when it comes to PC.

So, you like the 360 controller best ?

Get a 360 controller for Windows.

-

So, you like the PS2/PS3 controller best ?

Get a Logitech Cordless Rumblepad 2. (You can also use a PS2 to PC adapter)

-

So, you like the 360 controller, but you'd like the option to switch the d-pad with the left analog stick for certain games ?

Get a Saitek Cyborg Pad.

-

So, you just want a simple controller to play your old games ?

Get a Logitech Precision.

Not going against your point, but control customization is really up to the developers. It's just that PC devs put it in, and most console devs don't.

Not really. Many of those gamepads come with a software which allows you to do so.

Saitek Cyborg for example:

"... you can also program any button on the pad to become a Precision button. Once programmed, pressing this button can affect the sensitivity of either of the analogue sticks. Having trouble hitting targets through your sniper rifle when using the analogue stick to aim? Hold the Precision button down and the response speed of the stick is reduced, making it much easier to draw a bead on your target.

The Cyborg Rumble Pad also features Saitek's unique FPS button. We realise that many gamers (especially those used to playing on consoles) like to use their gamepads to control first person shooter games, but the majority of these games on PC do not support gamepads. To make the gamepad work in the game you need to program it using the supplied programming software. Whilst this option is still available to you, you can take all the effort out of this by pressing the FPS button on the pad. This instantly programs the pad with the keyboard and mouse commands typically used in these games, meaning you can start playing your games even quicker."

I guess you missed my point then. If devs would just put an option to customize controls, you would be able to do it. I know you can customize controls for the 360 version of the Orange Box, and same with Moto GP '06...

That's what I'm trying to say! lol. If the devs would just implement it... then it would be there. I guess they just think their own control schemes are the best so they don't bother.

Well uh yea, PC does give you alot more control options.

You could even put the Wiimote, flight sticks, racing wheels and arcade pads in for good measure.

I wasn't even talking about controls in general. Just gamepads. It's weird that in this day and age, controllers for recent consoles don't allow you to simply map buttons.

Did you read my post at all? Really, I named two games that I know FOR SURE you can customize controls for on the 360. It's not that the controllers are incapable of customizing the control configuration.

Although KB and M do have a lot more potential, for certain games controllers are much better. But KB and M are certainly good for a lot of games.

You don't get it. It's much easier for Microsoft, Sony, or Nintendo, to come with a solution here than to make all developers implement it in their games.

I think most missed the point. Forza is talking about how devs no longer offer full customization of controls in the games. Or Very, VERY few do.

When was the last time a game let you say "A is jump." "B is attack" and other things.

IF anything, you are lucky if devs will let you even have "options" to choost from. I'm not talking about "reverse X and Y axis on camera control or FPSes."

But say you don't want that RB button to reload, you have to choose from one of four options in Halo. What if those aren't to your liking though? (I want Melee for RS Press DAMMNIT! But I don't want to lose grenades on the left trigger!!)

You can't do that with most of today's games. I used to remember back then, a majority of games allowed you to map your buttons and put whatever you want on the buttons. It was a lot better than sticking to what devs force you, and in some cases of today's games I'd like that option much more, cause some devs just don't seem to get "controls" in games or I just don't like the use they give you.

That is needed for consoles because you can't map the buttons outside of the game. But if the developers took the time to implement that feature, it would be very welcome. Though, some games don't really need it.

It is true that PC's have a wider range of controllers, but I do like what Nintendo are doing with MK:Wii and SSBB. They allow four different controller combo types, and one will boud to suit your needs.

Custom maping, though, is a thing which game developers need to embrace, as different people 'play' differently.

the point is that us (pc gamers) have a lot of options for controls, and no console can match that, we have a endless amount of control options, and can map out anything to any key/button/axis that we want.

Here's the best review for it.

The only negative thing I heard from several reviews is that, the cable is a little short.

Also, I actually ordered mine from amazon and it should be getting here this week. I can't wait.

I wouldn't recommend using adapters, though. Usually you lose a little bit of response. But you can test this with a camera. Record yourself pressing buttons and watch frame by frame.

It is an advantage, but a very minor one. The consoles' controller options may be inferior, but they're still damn near perfect for almost every game. Switching the D-pad and analog stick is a cool feature, but it's not going to make or break a game.

I don't think it's minor. Developers often force you to use their layouts and it's not always the best choice there is.

DMC4 for example. With Dante, I'd use the triggers and bumpers to change styles instead of weapons.

The analog sticks on the "PS2 controller" are much better than the ones on the "Rumble Pad 2".

And you write consoles as if you were referring to both the X360, the PS3 and the Wii, but you don't say nothing about the last one... I guess that means there isn't any controller similar to the Wii-remote that you can use on the PC, is there?
