There is anti virus software, or if it gets really bad you can always reinstall your os, as long as you have all your stuff back up on another HDD or partition.

I can fix those myself.....in fact anyone can...its really not hard at all...most viruses are so primitive they take no effort to remove at all.
and you really shouldnt get any viruses at all....they are really easy to avoid.

You do realize that their are games on consoles that are 1080p/1080i right?
Nuff said.
1080i is worse then 720p.
As for 1080p, You do realize NG Sigma is the ONLY good looking game that runs at that native right?
[QUOTE="UnnDunn"][QUOTE="Bebi_vegeta"][QUOTE="UnnDunn"]The only reason consoles can't really do 1900x1200 or similar crazy resolutions like that is simple: lack of memory.
Give a console 512MB or 1GB of video RAM (in addition to whatever system RAM it may have) and it'll be able to do 1920x1080, no problem.
Some 360 and PS3 games do 1920x1080 already as it is, Virtua Tennis 3 on PS3/360, for example.

Once they do native resolution get back to me.
Um, yes they do native 1920x1080.yeah and i'm trying to figure out when consoles will be able to display 2560 X 1600, which a single 8800GTX can do already.
I also can't wait for february for the release of Nvidia's next heavywieght top of the line card.
Um why would any console dev waste there time doing that when there isnt even a HD-TV that supports that resolution and a 8800gtx cant play most high quality next gen games at that res at even a remotley decent framerate . Busting something to that resoution is a complete waste of power.

Um but the majority of the gaming market doesnt play there consoles on monitor its simply a foolish decision and a complete waste of power. I don't sit 1 foot from my TV and therefore don't need such a high resolution to get the same result.
Your thread fails, because you overlook tons of details:
1.COD4 was an exception. While it may run at 600p, it gets upscaled up to 1080p. It's not true 1080p Native, but it still look amazing.
2.A computer monitor may display 1900x1200, but you are sitting about 1 foot from the monitor. While I'm sitting 15-18 feet from my 1920x1080p Sony SXRD XBR2 TV, you can't tell the difference. In fact, in most cases, it looks better.
FAIL.

LOL no, the closer you are the more immersed, the more clear everything is, and a monitor's picture is always better.

Crysis isn't the only better looking game then uncharted, and games on pc have had better textures than uncharted for ages, UT3 PC looks better than uncharted crysis looks better CoD4 PC looks better. You should win dumbest post of the day for arguing the fact PC is graphically superior to the ps3, Uncharted is one of the few good looking games on ps3 so does that mean that game shouldn't count like crysis doesn't count? Its pathetic when you think lemmings claim gears to be the console graphics king, then cows argue that uncharted is, lemmings could do what you are doing and say that apart from uncharted 360 has far better looking games and therefor graphically superior to ps3. Each systems graphical capabilities should be based on its best looking game, crysis happens to be the pcs best looking game, and like I said is far ahead graphically than anything consoles are capable of. So everything in my "dumbest post of the day" was true and you saying ps3 has better looking games than pc not counting crysis (which is not true anyway) just made you sound stupid.

I cannot see how you gaming on a pc means you don't have a life. So that means gaming on a console means you don't have life as well? Because somehow me playing cod 4 on x360 means I'm a casual and doing it on a pc means I have no life... nice logic.
Also consoles put TOGETHER have the best variety of games. If you take them apart the good games for each platform normally fall under 1 or 2 categories. I agree with you with the Wii though, I bought that specifically because it has the types of games I cannot get on pc. As for your comment where you said 3 consoles would be cheaper than a pc lasting 5 years you have proven that you are pretty much lying and a noob about computers. A pc that is over the level of any console only costs 700-800us max(everything included), the 3 other consoles together would cost 1000us.

Which is why I run all my games at 1024x768 for years now, its better then 720p looks great on my 20 inch and my 15.4 inch wide screen WXGA laptop monitor and doesn't kill my games in wasted resolution.

not true really, uncharted is, of course, truly an awesome looking game with great visuals and the whole tropical setting is really felt through the art direction of the game, it really shows what the PS3 is capable of, but there's more than just Crysis on the PC-side of things that out-do Uncharted, whether it's stylistic or technological. World In conflict is indeed an RTS, and usually RTS games are not a benchmark for graphical prowess but that game on DX10 and full fledged war going on a big map is just halucinating. Another example from the stylistic side is team fortress2 which arguably has unbeatable art direction as of late. If you're talking about pure engine performance and visuals, yeah, there's still more than just Cryengine2, there's UT3 which looks better than uncharted (thanks in part to the massive spam of normal maps and the huge re-use of static meshes in maps to allow drastic performance increases).

They are exclusive to (a) console. Why isnt WoW on console? - Flawed logic X2.
2. THose ARE NOT ADVENTURE GAMES. They are ACTION ADVENTURES. Right now the adventure genre only survives on the PC.
3. The GT series is a BRAND NAME. Thats why it sells well. So sales = superiourity? :|

Why does the Gran Turismo series outsell every PC racer out there despite the PC racers' technical superiority? And what about sports titles? Party games?Look TC doesent count for all PC gamers, just like the odd rouge lem and cow count for 360 and PS3 gamers, so dont generalise.
Second of all PC DOES have the biggestr variety in titles BY FAR. It lacks only platformers and 3d fighters.
And no my PC cost $700 (minus case, and hdds), and it'll last me 3 years easily, just like my former X850pro did. Please dont sink to the level of TC with your last paragraph.

1. Squaer Enix doesent realese PC JRPGS, is the same reason FF isnt on the 360, or Wii. :|
They are exclusive to (a) console. Why isnt WoW on console? - Flawed logic X2.
- JRPGs - Particularly today, they resemble movies in their story and scope. They beg to be played in a home theater system using a controller. Perhaps that's why PC sales of JRPG-type games falter (in contrast to WRPGs, which sell best on the PC).
- Party games - Party games demand space...and a big TV. No offense, but Madden just isn't the same unless you're railing your opponent at the opposite end of the sofa. And no indie game out there seems to have the charisma of Mario Party.
- Platformers - Controller heaven, and sorry but there is no hard-set standard for PC controllers. What may be button 0 on one gamepad may well be button 3 on another (I know--I have several of them). Without those standards, simple games like these don't have the pick-up-and-play charm that is required for things like platformers to work.
And you say Gran Turismo is a brand name. Well, why does a brand name outsell quality? What about back in the early days of the name? What allowed the original Gran Turismo to set itself so far apart from the competition?
Just because the PC can support resolutions up to 2048x1536, or higher when video cards want to go higher, it does not mean that the game was made at that resolution. The graphics card can provide detailed screen of up to that number, but the game may look awful if it greatly exceeds the target resolution.
The resolutions of games don't really matter to enjoyment. To a certain extent, neither do graphics at all. Just a heads up.
gameplay, gameplay, gameplay. All that really matters. Market the hell out of it and you'll make money. Graphics are a poor substitute.
Games cost so much to make these days due to graphics that the niche game genre is effectively killed and we get a base of sequelitis and a think coating of fps and casual games. Nobody buys platformers these days, which is a SIN. They are FUN TO PLAY.
i love it when the topic is about console vs console, fanboys will boast their respective console's graphic capabilities and especially the output resolution. this game does 1080p that game does 720p etc etc OH NO! 1080i!!!
But when PC comes into the discussion, everyone just stfu and starts saying bulls*** like graphics are not important, and "who cares about resolution". Decide you hypocrits.
Wasn't there a mass suicide because Halo3 was upscaled to HD resolution?
[QUOTE="blackace"][QUOTE="UserFrenly_Noob"]how do you noobs live with thisCali3350
You do realize that their are games on consoles that are 1080p/1080i right?
Nuff said.
1080i is worse then 720p.
As for 1080p, You do realize NG Sigma is the ONLY good looking game that runs at that native right?
1080i is not worse then 720p, even accounting the arguably false interlacing concept(which at 1/60 is almost too quick for one to notice.) It still has more resolution(at around 100,000 more pixels)...and with a good deinterlacer, hard to tell a difference.
The problem isn't the resolution, it's the screen size and how far away you are looking from.
1280x1024 looks fantastic on 17'' screen, but the same resolution would look awful on 24'' screen. HDTV's have a lot less pixels than PC screens, especially if you compare it to size of the screen. But you play consoles two meters far from the screen and PC one foot far. If you'd use a 30'' PC screen with 2560x1600 resolution two meters far, you wouldn't notice the difference.

GT was the first 'simulator' for the PSone that was HEAVILY marketed by Sony. I know first hand - at footy (AFL) games they had people play eachother at it on the 'big screen' to win 'Sony Sponsered products'.There ARE plenty of JRPGs on PC - Just because Square Enix isnt making them doesent mean they arent there. I know som because Vandal debunked a similar comment saying there was no JRPGs on PC, with a huge list of them - not to mention box shots. I dont really follow JRPGs so I honestly cant say so my self.
As for Party games, there are plenty on PC. Indie games mostely, but others like Mashed ect. Just because you 'need space' doesent mean there arent party games on PC. Hell most indie party games are innovative and fantastic.
-Madden is not a party game. Its sports title..... And yes there are plenty of sports titles on PC - all gamepads, including the Wiimote work for PC dontchaknow.
Plaformers is defitnaly where PC is lacking. I cant refute that. Sure PC gets titles like Psychonaughts, and games with platforming in them ala, PoP, and Tomb Raider ect., but yes thats where consoles have the biggest advantage in terms of genres. And you can hook ANY gamepad up to PC, I repeat ANY gamepad. Why else does PC have the biggest gamepad range.....
And you argument still doesnt say against that PC doesent have the biggest variety of genres and titles. Consoles have their strengths in terms of genres, mainly Platformers, 3D fighters and action adventures, but PC trumps them in every other genre, not to mention isnt lacking in any genre deparment (including action adventure) - minus Platformers and 3D fighters.
WOW, PC gamers sure do have a superiority complex about them
I never relized the most important aspect of a game was resolution, and here i was worring about the gamplay, silly me
Seriously this is one of the most telling thread
PC Gamers, get over yourselves, everyone is here becasue they like games, just because you jelous that I have about 50 games for my 360, and can play any one without installing them is not my problem its yours, the PS3 and 360 both have major advantages over PC gaming, and the only thing PC games has going for it is superior resolution
The Wii is more intresting that a PC for gaming, I don't recall anything like Mario Galaxy on PC, or Ratchet and Clank, Consoles have the best variety by far, and over the life of the three current console, it would still. be cheaper to buy all three, than to buy a mid level PC and keep it current over 5 to 7 years, the standard lifetime of a console
I used to game on PC untill I got a life, now its way to time consuming, and to expensive to keep up, I own five computers, two I built myself, I am not a noob, and I know Pc gaming, but it takes time and dedication, something consoles do NOT require.
crispytheone88
Oh please..... get over yourself.
I doubt you ever did game on a PC, you cite PC gaming being too expensive then come out with...
"I own 5 computers, all the console and 50 games for my Xbox 360."
Are you posting on ur 360 these days?
