Congratulations consolites,

You sould feel proud. Due to your acceptance of mediocrity you have now brought the death of the best system of all, the PC.

Now that companies have seen they can treat you for the sheep that you are, buying anything and everything, including DLC codes,

attrocious multiplayer gameplay, etc... they have now moved on to treat the PC gamers the same. So not only have you allowed yourselves

to be treated as dogs you have now spread the disease of mediocrity to those who since the inception of gaming itself have refused

to become sheep. The likes of Activision, Infinity Ward, ID Software, etc... have now replicated the mediocrity they put on you year in and year out

onto those who demand better; PC gamers. You can try to refute this by posting scores, sales figures, supposed pirating numbers; nevertheless,

the facts remain that you are singlehandidly killing the PC market one sheepish purchase at a time.

"Consolites... have singlehandedly brought down the PC."

Those words don't agree. If it's a plural, it's not singlehanded. It's be singlehanded if it was oneconsolite.

This could be said about a lot of music that comes out today as well. Lots of people except mediocrity as acceptable and now is the norm. There really havent been any great bands to come out in awhile because a lot of it shovelware in wii terms.

you are over reacting to two games, rage and modern warfare 2.

the wonderful thing about pc gaming is that, unlike console gaming, the tools are in the hands of the gamers. pc gamers always find a path to what they want. its the only platform thats impossible to keep down because of its open ended nature. if somebody jerks around the console fanbase, what recourse do they have outside boycott? nothing, and with a boycott, they are screwed for games. publishing a game for the pc independently is easier. modifying existing games can provide them with life spans of a decade plus.

no matter what bad developers try to do, pc gaming will never truly be negatively affected in a significant way. the fan community will program games to do what that fan community wants. bad developers will find the pc market unprofitable and push their sub standard products on console gamers willing to bend over and take it, while we are left with a large pool of big name developers who cater to our needs like stardock and valve, and a host of smaller, independent developers who are actually able to make games and distribute games for the pc. all on top of the massive and potentially infinitely replayable backlog of games.

disagreed thats largely a myth even though its likely more people illegally inherit games on PC than other platforms but people who chip their console seem to think its their god given right to pirate them

Except your wrong. That's the concept. The system is not dying. It's in the middle of a transition, from higher end exclusives to more casual/multiplat games.

The system has a higher gaming install base, since the beginning of this gen than all consoles combined.

How can a system with the fastest and highest growth rate, be dying?

It's in the middle of a transition to be just like consoles. According to this guy, the PC will be exactly the same as consoles and no longer superior to them. The PC will essentially become a console itself. Thus, the PC is dead. Maybe it can be called a Personal Console a few years down the road.

What on earth do you mean? You mean transitioning to direct download? The PC has made a huge step in that direction in NA already. It's not killing the industry because they are still selling the games, just not through retail.

Well PC gamers already pirate games and such so they seem to be trying to go down the same road as the music industry. Question is, if PC Gaming did die, or "casualize", into consoles, who would really care besides PC gamers?

It's not dead, yet. It just seems to be dying, and by dying I mean turning into a console. PC gamers would basically consider that death since elitists seem to view consoles as the most inferior products on Earth. Do you want me to edit my OP and change the word to 'dying'? Would that make you feel better?

it depends consoles could be at risk aswell most likely Xbox 360 the PS3 is more hacker proof I am not sure about wii but I hear they already have programs to emulate it.

more hackers = less sales for software.

True, but the ones doing the hacking would be the defected PC Gamers. 360 and Wii have had some issues with hacker/emulators, but if there was a sudden uprise is hacked games, etc. It would be the PC Gamers. They would be the ones that would essentially be killing the game industry

Based on this guy whp hasn't a clue. The fact remains there are still dedicated PC devs out there. We'll see how it progresses, but it's far from being the same as the consoles. Far, far away from it. How is it dead again?

It's not dead, yet. It just seems to be dying, and by dying I mean turning into a console. PC gamers would basically consider that death since elitists seem to view consoles as the most inferior products on Earth. Do you want me to edit my OP and change the word to 'dying'? Would that make you feel better?

Seems to be turning into a console based on what though? One or two games? Dying is the wrong word full stop, it's supposedly been dying for the last 10 years.

I've never understood the idea that when PC has to be compared, it must be compared to all 3 consoles. It's never PC vs 360, PC vs PS3, or PC vs Wii. It has to be all 3 which means it's basically 3 game libraries against 1. It wouldn't be fair to start making 360 vs PC, PS3, and Wii threads or pit another console against the other rival consoles and the PC.

I'm not convinced that PC gaming is dying. This trend has been going on for 10 years. It just doesn't begin and end with MW2.

If PC gamers didn't feel threatened by it for whatever reason, this topic would not exist.

That's the counterpoint? The minority of PC gamers are always going to be paranoid of it happening, it's human nature, and they likely know little else.

These topics are created, doesn't make the point any more realistic.

So you're saying that the TC doesn't know what he's talking about and he is just the 'minority'.

Why would they just randomly be paranoid of it happening? For all we know, it starts with Modern Warfare 2 and Rage, and continues to other games. Look at Crysis; one of the PCs highest scoring games. It's sequel is being put on consoles. Now why would Crytek do such a thing?

Are you saying every single person thinks exactly the same thing at the same time? If so, then yes, everybody must be terrified of the PC becoming consolized. However we don't, therefore just because some people are annoyed/scared of it happening, ahrdly means the majority are.

Multiplats are happening to all systems, from PS3 to 360 and vice versa, from PS3/360 to PC and some vice versa. It's money, it's business. As costs to develop increase, so must what the devs are earning from the game, a la multiplat is one way to solve this. Reaching a wider audience holds the possibility of increasing revenue.

I would say that you are a whiner. It must hurt knowing that up until now you never played the best version of games that also appeared on the PC. Just imagine, you were paying $10 more for a game that was worse. Congratulations. You are obviously one of the reasons that mediocrity has flown from console owners to PC games.

Consoles are not mediocre. They generally cater to a different audience. Consoles are not the reason some PC devs are beginning to "dumb down" their versions. Piracy holds sway, therefore devs want more control over the end product.

Blaming something that is hardly happening, on something like the consoles is shortsighted, and you are ill-informed.
