Valve has canned their plans to put cross-platform gaming for Counter Strike: Global Offensive. Their reason being that the PS3 would hinder the updating towards perfection process of the overall game. When gamers start finding problems in the game, Valve can easily update the game instantly on PC and Mac. If they put the PS3 into the mix, that would slow down the process by two weeks per patch [and cost Valve tons of money].
Statement Below:
"The beta has proved we want to update not just the beta, but the game itself post-launch frequently on the PC," Valve's Chet Faliszek revealed to Joystiq. "To do that we need to separate the platforms so one doesn't hamstring the other. So for that, we have removed the idea of cross-platform play -- essentially make all platforms stronger by not mixing them."
