You also forget the mods for it. After I got bored of custom matches and gun game, I would play a little Zombies, Surf or both.
surfing was fun, so was the jumping maps. scoutknivez on 0 gravity was fun too. too bad people prefer kz2 over itYou also forget the mods for it. After I got bored of custom matches and gun game, I would play a little Zombies, Surf or both.

Is that a joke? It's one of the most played online shooter ever.
I never got into it, too slow paced for me. If I play an online shooter, I prefer fast-paced frantic action like Unreal, Quake, and CoD.
i love CS. i remember i cut class before just to play CS with my friends. :P

That's nothing, I played it in class every couple days my senior year in high school. :P The teacher would even join in sometimes.

Counter Strike is definitely one of the legendary FPS games.
Call Of Duty ain't got nothing on Counter Strike.
source isn't cs. We're talking about the original CSlast time i checked which was about 2 weeks ago the server list was beyond the 1000 mark

CS is the greatest FPS ever made. Matches were 5v5 $800 to start, $16000 max. 12 round switch Each gun had it's distinct recoil, and there was no such thing as addons or trophy's. There was a silencer, and it actually weakened the weapon, so it was all skill. ALL skill. COD fanboys need to whine nowkingundergroundWTF are you talking about? As another person said; is this a sick joke?

[QUOTE="oajlu"]and go onto norecoil duty 10? na, cs is better sorryit's history...just leave it.

dont envy MW2 because you cant afford it.
i know many ppl still play old games because they cant afford new games.
thats why CS is still popular in some countries (definately not those developed ones).
new games on PC = hardware upgrade + software (new games are more expensive too)
new games on console = possible purchase on a new system if you dont have 360 or PS3.
what would you choose?
cs or crysis/mw2/kz2/other new FPS games? if they are free?
of course everyone would choose later ones when cost is not in concern.

Definetely not true. Some people just prefer CS because it's the most precise FPS and the one where skills is the only factor. No **** like MW2 where you constantly die by Air strikes, noob tubes and dumb crap.

No one talks about CS2 because it's not getting made anymore.
Anyway it's all about Tactical Intervention now.
Huh? Its still pretty popular today, I mean hell look at the numbershttp://store.steampowered.com/stats/
CS and CSS are both ahead of titles like TF2 and L4D2. Combined they are greater than MW2. Even the black sheep of the family CZ had 9K players today. Ahead of newer titles like Killing floor, DOD:S, and Borderlands.
Thats pretty pretty pretty pretty pretty pretty pretty pretty good.
And I've been playing since 1.5 and don't see myself quiting anytime soon. Playing a custom WC3 server with crazy custom ****s and its a blast.

Talk about distinct recoil mechanics. Let's see, the firearms actually have predictable recoil and stopping power based on the caliber of the projectile...the mechanics of the firearms are realistically modeled and movement and ballistics are realistically modeled. Instead of an unrealistic bullet deviation mechanic like CSS uses which is unpredictable and thus based at least partially on luck, Red Orchestra uses a minimal bullet deviation system based on the accuracy on the weapon, but for the most part your bullets go to the location you are aiming towards. There is free aim from the hip and none of those nubby crosshairs you're used to in CSS.
This game is so minutely tuned you must manually bolt the action on your rifle, mentally keep track of the number of rounds in each of your magazines, and the bayonet actually affected the accuracy of your weapon.
But yes, COD fails miserably as far as being a skill-based game. It is an arcade shooter for the next gen console crowd.
uh...the silencer doesn't weaken the weapons in cod?
okay....
i guess the shot i made without the silencer i then wasn't able to reproduce with that silencer on means nothing...
Counterstrike never got attention it deserved? It's one of the most played and critically acclaimed shooters to this day. If you meant by COD like attention...well that's a different story.
man I hope TC is kidding, I can only name 2 games that really are reguarded as a kind of sport. Starcraft and CS.
Heck after the ungodly amount of years since it came out it is still as popular as the COD:MW series.
The game got the "feel" right, and roundbased spawn was a good idea, makes people try harder, and not do alot of dumb things :P
The game was a stroke of pure genius, still is. whenever I play an MP fps game, CS is the bar I messure by, none have yet crept over it (BF2 is close).
I honestly think that is the reasons I diddnt like the Modern warfare series that much. It really does remind me of a mix of UT 2k4 and CS, but with no real feel to the guns, and the fast respawn pretty much just lends to a spamfest. But hey the kiddies seem to like it, its fairly easy, and even rewards you for suc*ing^^
