Counterstrike never got the attention it deserved

may be in the west but here in the ME, the game is tons more popular than COD4 or anyother shooter.

Actually, not just in ME but in the whole Asian continent. Counter-Strike FTW! i still cant believe it starte das a mod for Half-life. but damn...memories...T_T

thats why CS is still popular in some countries (definately not those developed ones).

new games on PC = hardware upgrade + software (new games are more expensive too)

new games on console = possible purchase on a new system if you dont have 360 or PS3.

what would you choose?

cs or crysis/mw2/kz2/other new FPS games? if they are free?

of course everyone would choose later ones when cost is not in concern.

Um...TC, CS was THE MOST POPULAR PC GAME for about 3 years or better. How many competions were there back in the day with this game? People up for days playing. It was all over TV. Probably the most popular game outside WOW ever on PC.

CS is the greatest FPS ever made. Matches were 5v5 $800 to start, $16000 max. 12 round switch Each gun had it's distinct recoil, and there was no such thing as addons or trophy's. There was a silencer, and it actually weakened the weapon, so it was all skill. ALL skill. COD fanboys need to whine nowkingunderground

You can't get the precision and feel of CS in any other FPS nowadays though. That's why a lot of people end up going back to it even with all the new FPS coming out these days.

Yes, Counter-Strike sucks. But it, along with GTA and Mario, are the 3 most recognizable things worldwide in gaming, so this thread fails if it says it didn't deserve the atttention... *facepalms*

Yeah it was, I definitely want whatever TC is on.

I think CS will need to adopt some more modern features i the future if it wants to keep up though, no sight aiming or ranking up makes it feel old. Plus its like hack city sometimes.

Didn't like CS since day one, it does require skill but the weapons are vastly unbalanced. Every single game gets boring after everyone picks up the AWP -CS is a camp fest worse than of MW2.

I have CS:S from Steam, and although its a great game, it does have its downsides:

1) No prone, only crouch. I know this is done to balance the gameplay, but other games do it fine and it does not unbalance the gameplay at all.

2) Characters feel like they run too slowly (IMO), plus the camera does not shake at all when you run. Counter Strike literally feels like you are controlling a floating camera with two arms attached. Compare this to other games where it actually feels like you are seeing through the eyes of an actual human, not a floating camera with arms attached. I know this sounds like a lame excuse, but atmosphere and realism is important to me.

3) Counter Strike glorifies one-hit-kills too much. Constant insta-kills are too annoying for me. I like to be patient and take a few seconds to fight my enemies, not just point at their heads and press one button.

4) Fire in the hole! Fire in the hole! Fire in the hole! My goodness that gets annoying when your teammates are launching grenades every 2 seconds.

Not saying that CS:S is bad in any way, but I prefer some other games to play online.

CS 1.6 and CS:S got way too much attention and took attention away from games like Battefield 2 which was much better. Not to mention BF2 had awsome mods like Project Reality.

I have all the new cods and cs is way better than them.
