[QUOTE="KukicAdo"]Counter Strike 1.6 is the best FPS ever. Hands down. Halo can't match it, CoD can't match it, Killzone can't match it. The game is a perfect.PandaBear86
How is CS 1.6 better than CS:S when they pretty much have the same gameplay but with different graphics? Is there any diffrence in gameplay between the two?

1.6 is alot harder because of the random hitboxes =\ but apart from that graphics were the only difference xD

More Nostalgic I guess. I prefer 1.6 over CS:S.

I wanted to say "I bet you only like CS 1.6 due to nostalgia", but I thought it would be too mean to say it, but at least you are completely honest enough to admit to it :) Kinda like how people still like Mario Kart 64 over Mario Kart Wii. They still have the same core gameplay mechanics, but people will still prefer the older game due to nostalgia. No problem with me as long as they recognise their thoughts as opinion rather than actual fact :P

last time i checked which was about 2 weeks ago the server list was beyond the 1000 mark

kingunderground
source isn't cs. We're talking about the original CS

kind of ironic you say that since in your original post u mention "12 round switch", which was big with source 1.6 typically always does 15 round switch

Because its newer? CSS and CS combine have over 100,000 people playing daily according to their stats on steam.

Human-after-all

Nah, it's my opinion. I hate CS. That game is quite boring. :)

Congratulation, Halo 3 had 1 million daily players up until MW2, now it does around ~600k daily.

  • 563,386 last 24 hours

CS was doing that 6 years ago, call me in 6 years when Halo has 100000 people still playing.

But thats really hard because a new console would've come out soooo. I love both games for online in their different styles lets leave it at that

Never got the attention it deserved? It's the most popular online shooter ever made.PannicAtack

Yeah, I am also confused by this thread. CS did get the attention it deserved. Heck, it still does, even though it is less. Thousands, if not millions of people still play this game...

No, i mean in 6 years. PC games live for longer online due to the face that you dont get new 'gens' of PC. Consoles you get new gens so that means people would move to the next step

But Halo fans keep playing Halo games until the next major Halo game, not until the next console. A new Xbox 360 console wouldn't stop Halo fans from playing Halo 3, but Halo: Reach will.

Halo 2 drew 300k unique players to online play every day 3 years after release, in 2007. That was 2 years after X360 was released, and i doubt any 360 game had better numbers. Though when Halo 3 was released, then people moved on..

CS lived longer because it doesn't get junky sequels every couple of years. CoD is more popular than CS at launch day but it never lasts...

And why not? Annal releases may be a reason, perhaps? :)

There's a fair difference between the two games. Most new gamers would be quick to choose Source over 1.6 and fair enough - the game is much prettier, has a physics engine and better sound. The reason why the old school CS1.6 players stick to it is because the game's core shooting/recoil mechanics are preferred and the hit detection is MUCH better. In Source, you might as well be aiming at upper chest and you'd be bound to get a headshot. Actually the hit detection in Source is just flat out bad in all honesty, you can clearly miss a player and yet still get him - I'm not talking in regard to the recoil, either. It just feels off compared to 1.6.

I disagree about CS taking more skill than COD. The hitboxes in Counterstrike are so bloody obtuse that its hard to figure out whether you'll actually hit the person. It is a shot in the dark a lot of times. Its one of the reasons I never got into the game competitively. Viva COD.Vandalvideo

I love CS for all it has to offer, although the spawn camping on custom maps is ridiculous. I just think that CS needs a sequel to set the bar of online FPS and put Call of Duty in its place.

Spawn Camping? The last thing CS needs is a sequel. Leave the legend alone.

I disagree. I think the original COD has far superior bullet registry to 1.6. About the only CS game I'd place near COD in quality of bullet mechanics is Condition Zero, and hardly anyone plays that anymore. And as for your above post, I've found the talent of COD players significantly higher that CS players from my time playing competitively. Not only that, but there is a lot more placed nades and ambient strategies you don't find in CS.

Counterstrike has always gotten a lot of attention, but from the PC crowd, not the Gamespot community. They don't really overlap much.
