Cows Drive Gametrailers Mad Over 9.3 for UC2

It's sad seeing just how many people here need to learn to read ._. The problem is not the score but the content of the review. According to the reviewer, UC2, an unoriginal and linear game, is inferior to gears 2, which is unoriginal and linear as well, and has many bugs and glitches in single player and multiplayer. Keep in mind, he never faulted gears 2 for being unoriginal or linear. And standards changing with time? So now all games have to be open world innovative masterpieces to be good games?tehpiecemaker

9.3 isn't a good game?

It doesn't seem that UC2 being a linear game was a major draw back of the game, Also for UC 2 they took something similar to Gears 2 Horde mode. It doesn't make the unogrinality to be a bad/horrible thing.

They wanted it to outscore the 360 version of GRAW(9.9), that's all.:P

9.3 is a GOOD score, and i'm a super-cow

First of all, you're an idiot if you think people were simply complaining because of the 9.3. People aren't ****ing stupid. We know 9.3 is a great score so cut that **** out. Gears of War could have gotten an 8.5 and Uncharted 2 8. The actual score wasn't the issue here, so stop trying use that as a basis to bash people because you're completely missing the point. The real issue was basically how GT knocked down points for the game lacking originality and being too linear at some parts. How the **** are they going to make Uncharted 2 a high quality heavy story/character driven game with specific cinematic elements that tops any other game out (including MGS 4) and make it nonlinear. This is a cinematic, interactive, action/adventure game.

Second, the lack of originality is an issue for me because they say that the games that try to do new things will be the games that will get the higher scores. There were plenty of games on GT that have gotten very high review scores that haven't done anything extremely revolutionary. If there is anyway Uncharted 2 does things differently, it's in the online platforming/cover system gameplay because there is no other game on the market as of now that let's you really play with a cover system as vertically as in Uncharted 2. In addition, the game has been improved over the 1st in various ways, but the cinematic qualities have had a huge improvement. You can say that's the one thing that really sets Uncharted 2 apart from other single player campaigns on the market. You will WANT to finish the game badly as you keep playing the campaign.

When I see GeoW 2 scoring higher than Uncharted 2, and Uncharted 2 is probably the better game (which a better overall value too), then I see an issue. GeoW 2 didn't do anything incredibly different from GeoW (which scored a 9.1 from GT). Again, my problem isn't with the score, but their reasoning for scoring it lower than other games for silly/wrong reasons. And no I'm not a cow. Stop being close minded because I have an opinion that some cows share.

Surely not, people complaining over a 9.3? People should calm down & not make complete fools of themselves on a regular basis. I think I'll enjoy UC2 more than I did Gears 2 so the difference means nothing to me.

What? Your silly argument about the review "content"? No. The purpose of content is to relay information to the gamers to see if they are interested in buying the game. It is true that Uncharted 2 is not original gameplay wise. If the GT review of Gears 2 didnt state that it was unoriginal, then it is the gears 2 review that is inauccrate, not the uncharted 2 review. Besides, anyone with half a brain knows that Gears 2 would have similar gameplay to Gears 1.

There are no risks associated with that game at all. They played it completely safe. They took things that they knew were accepted and people loved and build it into one game. And that's fine, there's nothing wrong with that. But you can't expect a score of a 9.8 or a 9.5 and higher if you're doing something like that.

I understand GT's logic on the slightly lower rating than UC2 is getting elsewhere. But that logic should be consistent. How can they say this about Uncharted and still give GOW2 a 9.5 when it did virtually nothing different? I'm not complaining; I agree that originality should count for more a larger part of the score than most sites (this one included) give it. However, the same standard should apply across the board.

Gametrailers review is very bad: they spoil almost every cutscene in the game. And 9.3 is nod a very good score to a highly anticipated console game: console games start to worth at 8.0, the rank is from 8.0 to 10.0, so a 9.3 game is a 6.5.

Lets face it, even if the reviewer is full of crap about the originality of Gears OR maybe he didn't play Winback or Killswitch back in the day and the game felt fresh to him, all of the whining about it is inexcusable. The game still got an excellent score and a very favorable review and maybe acting like a bunch of adults instead of crybabies might have made the situation better. But no, everybody's got to have a goddamn conspriracy theory as to the reviewers reasoning.

If Modern Warfare 2 doesn't get docked any points then that's another one. People are mad because there's these double standards for PS3 games that don't seem to be applied to 360 games.

It doesn't help that GT has already been caught botching their video comparisons with actual proof/facts.

All I have to say is LULZ. Uncharted 2 scored better than gears two in most sites, I could care less about GT review I didn't even watch it I was told it was filled with plot spoilers

You're not seeing the bigger picture. Yes a 9.3 score is great and complaining about .'s of a difference is futile. But it's the principle of the whole thing. Who's to say this doesn't cross over into other PS3 games if nobody says anything about it? What if other PS3 games come out that don't do anything new but they're still amazing, and they get docked more points for not being original?

Why should GT be able to get away with favorable treatment for certain games and not others just because they're on a certain console? GT should be held accountable when they're inconsistent like this, and that's all we're really talking about. We're not talking about adding points of a score just the whole concept of un-even treatment.
