Crack open the champagne!!! Media declares the WINNER OF THIS CONSOLE WAR !!!

Well, we're 6 months into this console war and the Wii is dominating MS and Sony so concisely that the mainsteam media seems assured in Nintendo's victory. Amidst the hundred's of articles citing the Wii incredible success that literally pollute news stands around the globe, in the past week, the Wii's victory has been trumpeted on the cover of 2 major magazine's (EDGE and Fortune), and to be perfectly honest with you, it's going to take nothing short of a miracle for MS and Sony to stop Nintendo this generation.

Whether or not you agree with these proclamations, this kind of exposure and publicity alone... is very, very, good for the Wii. Claims of the Wii's victory heralded on the cover's of major magazines will only contribute to the Wii's success and bring it closer to that reality. You see, the Wii is already winning the most most important part of any console war...

Great that they won, i guess game devs can trash every title in the making and focus on the next,next gen.

I would say even tho the Wii is doing great.. no,no.. Grand, its possible however unlikely that the Wii wont last as long as the PS3 or the 360..

I have never heard of the Edge but has far has Fortune goes they only care about the best stock to get the most money, unlike anyone on this board they could care less about gaming.

Which could be good because they are not looking thought Fanboy eyes. But could be bad because are they counting which games may or may not change the market.

The wii is in a very good position, and I think it has a strong chance of winning the console war because of its mainstream appeal. I am just saying that it is way way too early to call the war before all the companies bring out their big guns, we still have years to go before the console war is truly over.

I am just saying that it is way way too early to call the war before all the companies bring out their big guns, we still have years to go before the console war is truly over.

The fact that they bring gaming 10 years back in environments/graphics in games, the 99% bad quality games, the 250$ steal for a 50$ hardware, the gmmick controller that they stoped using at all in new games, or that my grandpa took up gaming, and has killed out cat while playing Wii bowling ?

So what?  The media just writes ariticles about whatever's hot/popular at the moment.  Just because they write an article that says "teh Wii wins" it doesn't mean its going to come true.

And of course (as always),  this doesn't change the fact that the Wii hardly has any games worth talking about.

Exactly. It's waaay to early to tell, and the Wii will not stay a hot item forever. Once that initial buzz goes away, what will sustain it? Games...which it is lacking in.

Wow I had hoped you were banned permanently. It doesn't take gaming back 10 years. It moves it forward technically, just not as much as PS3/360 did. The games aren't that bad, and just like with the 360 and the PS3 it takes time to build a quality game library.

QFT.  These magazines aren't making themselves look very credible by declaring a title that takes 4 or so years to attain in the first 6 months/year of the competition, so to speak.  They must just not understand how gaming works.

Wow I had hoped you were banned permanently. It doesn't take gaming back 10 years. It moves it forward technically, just not as much as PS3/360 did. The games aren't that bad, and just like with the 360 and the PS3 it takes time to build a quality game library. 

What planet are you from man ? Those games look worst than xbox titles ? How does that bring gaming forward technically ? The games are not that bad ? Is that why they ge 50-60% scores  and spiderman looks like a N64 game AT BEST ?

I think Nintendo have definitely achieved what they set out to do with the Wii, and everyone is sitting up and taking notice.

Now, Nintendo's next task is convincing everyone that the Wii won't simply fizzle out in the next couple of years, once the novelty has worn off. I think they will be able to do that, but only if they stop relying on Mario, Link and Pikachu. They are going to need something completely new to redefine the space, like Nintendogs, Animal Crossing and Brain Age did for DS.

Hmm see I can think of a score that got an 8.8 (about an 88%) on gamespot, and another that got 9.0 (about 90%) here too. Since there aren't 200 titles for the Wii, that means that more than 1% of their game's aren't low quality. Xbox titles like riddick who were at the end of the consoles life look better than wii, but with time for the devs to get used to the wii titles will look better on it. Spiderman is one example of a horribly done game, should i assume that since bomberman: act zero sucked that all 360 games suck?

I would go as far to say it greatly surpassed the 360, and heavily surpassed the PS3 as far as advancement in controls goes. They also raised the bar on immersion, a field that only Sony is also playing on.

They didn't push graphics, though leading that didn't help them at ALL last gen did it?

Yea Nintendo. Your actually able to sell a console once again. Even if it's a disservice to gamers. Even if it's way underpowered compared to anything else out there. Even thuogh in less than a year it will be looked at as a last gen system because all you did was Take a Gamecube as some motion sensing to it and put it in a new box. But Hey it's a new controller. But maybe this was your plan all along. You knew you had the name and you knew people would buy any POS system you put out there and you also knew that you would get people to buy your console because it was cheaper then the competition which is still outright better in every way. Disservice? A disservice is charging for online play even when the developer does not want you to. A disservice is pricing your console out of the reach of average gamers because you want to push your proprietary format on gamers again.
