Here is Street Fighter 4 maxed on an 8600gt and before you make excuses on the 1024x768 resolution take a look at the frame rate which averages around 75-80.

Thats great, and the console version runs at 60fps andwill never run any higher, console games will never waste optmization running a game higher then 60fps.

These minimum requirements made me remember the 8800 is now almost a4 year old card. It doesn't seem that long ago and while i was at first surprisedto see itlisted as the minimum it really isn't thatsurprising when you think about it. I can't wait until this game is released so I can see what it looks like maxed out.

I also would like proof of this. Why dont you try google ? And prove me wrong. Would it drop below 60fps at some point? Im sure but it averages 60fps show me DMC4 on a 8600 tahts even getting close to 60fps. Its sure as hell not locked at 30. And its hard to find performacne anaylisis on a 3 year old game.

It is surprising since the game is developed for consoles too.
So either the consoles are running at settings below the lowest on the PC version or the PC requirements are inaccurate like 99% of PC requirements.

That's not surprising because when you have a set platform you can optimise for the specific hardware. When your dealing with a range of different hardware types you need a bit of extra juice to take up any slack from the game not being designed for the specific hardware your using.[QUOTE="Hakkai007"]

60FPS during non-combat scenes, dips to 30 and possibly below during medium and heavy scenes.

Thats only on the Hardest mode as it was added for the pc release. But a 7 sereis wont be running that mod at anywhere near 60fps. And no the console version doesnt drop in the 30's . DMC4 was a very smooth game, I remeber because it came out at a time when the PS3 had lots of crap ports and DMC4 was the first multiplat to look and run great. It was even praised for keeping up its smooth framerate. Regardless im done with with this coversation I proved my point. Time to check out the FNC demo.

I remember it differently on the 360 but I cannot prove that as I no longer have it for consoles. It wasn't a huge FPS drop but it was there.
MT Framework is one heck of an engine. Sadly we don't have any proof if it running at console settings as no one owns that hardware anymore.

I was never arguing about the resolution.
Just a derp moment :P Just to make sure we were all clear on that.
I very much doubt 60FPS is constant on consoles without some kind of sacrifice.
Wonder if this is a ploy to drive console sales up?....Idk but the laptop in my sig runs Warhead on very high/high and Crysis on high at 720p...I thoughtCrysis 2would run atleast mostly high....Disappointed if true.
neogeo419
Don't think you have anything to worry about. They are the official minimum specs but if those don't get med/high I'd be really disappointed since consoles are "supposed" to be running at a mixture of medium settings. I'd demand a refund and make my own hater-website if that was true.

Crytek said on the 3rd that the requirements "These minimum specs are not official or final, we'll have an announcement about this soon. Please note if you didn't hear it from me/see it on MyCrysis, then it's not official " The console version will be using a mixture of low medium and maybe a few setting above medium but its going to be sub 720 resolution. So if the 8800GT requirement is the starting base for Pc there is only a couple possible reasons for it.
1. Is like Metro 2033 where lowest setting for the game is well above console levels. giving Pc version a vast improvement (I doubt it)
2. Poor coding (optmininzation)
3. Someone jumped the gun and didnt provide all the info needed and the 8800 requirement is what is needed to play the game with the quality intended
( like games having three sets of requirements, minimum recomended, and optimal)

Its not like a 8800GT isn't common now-a-days anyway. they should've done just DX10/11 support and dropped XP imo.

Well the problem is that an 8800gt shouldn't be a minimum requirement if the game is also on consoles.
And the game is supposed to be more linear and better optimized so it should at least look as good as high settings on Crysis with an 8800gt.

You would think so... but lets be honest... the first crysis was horribly optimized... i dont know why folks have so much faith in crytek... they have no track record for optimization.... its usually brute force with them.

Yeah and to make matters worse they have to build the game with console hardware in mind with it's smaller amount of RAM and exotic CPU architecture. I'm hoping the extra power is used for more advanced graphics than the original but deep down I have a fear it will be another Deus Ex: IW with really poor optimisation because they focused on getting it to run on consoles and based the game around their limitations.[QUOTE="Hakkai007"]

Crysis runs decently if you take into consideration of all of what it is processing compared to other games. But for Crysis 2 take into consideration that it is on consoles now, and despite all the conflict of it vs kz3 or other game, it looks pretty darn good for a console game, the engine on the PC will also be optimized because of the new optimized techniques that crytek was forced to find for the consoles.[QUOTE="markinthedark"]

look, your crysis screen shots have been garbage from the beginning... the HDR is always outrageous and blurring all the scenery so you cant see how ugly it is. Play standard crysis instead of modded crysis maps, and use the console command to show your fps on your 8800gt... then post a SS of that with your fps included.
I originally ran crysis on a factory overclocked 8800 GTX.... which i originally paid $600 for... and crysis ran like crap.... i recently bought a 460 gtx and it looks pretty good... but im still only hovering around 30fps.... and even with 4xAA... the jaggies in the trees refuses to go away.
If you wanna go around posting your doctored crysis screen shots go for it... but crytek only created the original game... not the mods. Dont give them credit for 4 years of modding. Post some screen shots of the original crysis, running on your 8800gt with the fps console command on.

His screens are on a custom level with insane HDR lighting blur... same technique two worlds 2 uses to blur out their ugly graphics... Its a method of hiding ugly. If hes not hiding anything, why not show his fps on an actual game level?

look, your crysis screen shots have been garbage from the beginning... the HDR is always outrageous and blurring all the scenery so you cant see how ugly it is.

Once VirtualDub gets done compressing my large 32 gig Splinter Cell Chaos Theory video then I will post with fps counter.
But these do not look bad to me.
.
type "r_DisplayInfo = 1" into the console on your 8800gt... then load up an actual game level and take some screen shots.
even the crappiest of cards can take pretty screen shots when they are rendering at 5fps.

I know the command......it's common knowledge especially for those who use the console to load custom maps.

well then go for it... and make sure you are close to some buildings or rocks so we can see the texture detail.

according to benchmarks he should be getting in the mid 20s on high 2xAA at 1680x1050, if he uses some decent configs he probably could achieve quality greater than high around 30fps.Please Log In to post.
