[QUOTE="lawlessx"]kinda stopped listening to Crytek for awhile now.-Unreal-
What if they offered up some sort of weeaboo package? With little girls dressed in tiny skirts. Would that sway you back to them?

if they offered me grown adult women (ideally ones of my choosing) with tiny skirts.. i might be interested

cmon miniskirts!

Comming from the guys who said Crysis2 would look the same on pc and consoles, and that Crysis1 console port was going to look better than the original.

Lolz, totally not double talk PR BS.

miriPlays

They do look the same, save for DX11 and a few minor details.

The underlying tech is better.

minus the textures everything else is better even in dx9. only pc version has SSGI. also has better hdr ,shadows ,more light sources, better ssao motion blur dof , no popin lod issues , more objects on screen . its hardly the same :P

Just when I was feeling like my machine was fairly modern because I put in a brand new Radeon 7700, my brother decides he'd like to drop a pair of GTX 660's into his i7 machine. He'll probably be playing Crysis 3 on near-max settings at 60 FPS while I am stuck playing it at 30 FPS with probably half the settings turned down to medium.

I know it's trendy to hate on Crytek, but I think it's way f*cking overblown. Yes, Crysis 2 was obviously influenced by the decision to go multiplatform, but it's a business decision based on the current reality of the industry. I don't get what the point of b*tching and moaning is. If you like it, buy it....if you don't like it, don't. Nobody owes you anything.

Crysis 2 wasn't as technically impressive initially as Crysis 1, but it is still one of the most graphically advanced games on the PC. And after the HD texture pack and DirectX11 update I think it looks better than Crysis overall. The setting is more appealing in Crysis 1 for sure, but I really notice the lower resolution textures now.

In any case, I don't care about a game melting down my PC. I only care that it is fun to play and looks amazing. I enjoyed Crysis, Warhead, and Crysis 2, so I have little doubt that I will enjoy Crysis 3. And graphically Crysis 3 is insane....far surpassing the first three Crysis games.

Based on the reality of the industry?

You are aware they crysis 1 and its expansion outsold Crysis 2 even though crysis 2 was on 3 platforms?

People have a right to express themselfs, b*tching and moaning is something natural if it pisses you off and you can't do anything about it. Accepting a situation that you disagree with, without doing anything, is far worse.

That might be true if there weren't literally dozens of alternatives. Feel free to purchase a game from any number of developers who cater to your tastes.

I was writting in the context of a beloved series. Ex. if 'they' ruin Earthworm Jim, i'm going to be pissed and b*tch about it, alternatives don't concern me because those alternatives, no matter how much they resemple the series, are not Earthworm Jim, and will never be.

But what happens if a game/franchise you used to love a lot undergoes a radical change you (and many others) percieve as very negative?

There isn't always a suitable alternative. And often, even if they exist they can't stop you from feeling dissapointed...

Its fine to b itch besides which PC gamers voted with their wallets also and the game was a sales flop, a good result.

Companies that don't piss off their fanbase do better then companies that do.

Nope.

Yerli reiterated that the PC version of Crysis 3 will "look fantastic" despite the compromises inherent in simultaneously developing the game for PS3 and Xbox 360.

"Looks fantastic" is all that's inside Yerli's quote. The writer added the comment about compromising for consoles.

"look fantastic" despite the compromises inherent in

despite the compromises

EDIT:

Well, yerli said that crysis 2 would look fantastic...look at how that turned out.

And besides,I dont even care about the graphics. The problem is that crysis 3 will hvae terrible gameplay.

I'd have to just deal with it. It's their franchise, not mine, and in the end they can do what they want with it.

Yeah, look at the deus ex series. Deus ex 2 was crap but HR is awesome because the devs listened to fan feedback.

Sure,it's their franchise, but a consumer holds power in the industry,in most cases, when a developer abandons their original fanbase, their products achieve very unremarkable results...

A good fanbase backlash can be a postive thing for our games...

That's a good example,HR turned out great, although I must admit,I never undestood the Invisible War hate...

It wasn't as good as the original, sure, and it had some noticeable flaws, but it was nowhere near as bad as many make it out to be.Completed it a few times, and it's a good game, great even...

Probably just hype. If they optimize well (I know...it's Crytek) then it shouldn't matter. Warhead was an improvement and Crysis 2 definitely was good...but hopefully they can do even better with optimization on Crysis 3. Not optimizing and then having high system requirements isn't exactly what I call "pushing visuals further".

Quite the opposite. Consider MechWarrior Online... even though it's not exactly what I wanted them to make, I bought a Founder's package and will be playing once they get SLI support sorted out, because I want to support the genre. Maybe the game I really want will get made eventually; maybe it won't. In the meantime, I'll enjoy what's available. I'm not about to wish for them to go out of business just because I didn't get my way.

The only way I am going to believe this now is if they have made a seperate version for PC rather than one that also works on Xbox360 and PS3. It just doesn't make sense that they would make the clusterfukk that was Crysis 2 and somehow be able to do better the next time using the same formula.

They don't need a seperate version. Their engine splits the versions on its own.

What people don't realize here is that Crysis 2 was built with an incomplete engine. The guys at Crytek have already completely admitted that the engine on every single platform was terribly optimized. They had to rush the game out with a bad engine to make its launch.

With Crysis 3 they have a completed engine on all platforms. They are supporting tons of DX11 features on day one and I believe they've dropped the DX9 support completely. The tech demo they put out was from their first level in-game. It was extremely impressive and looked 100x better than any footage we have seen so far.

From what I can tell the 360 version has been vastly improved over Crysis 2 as well. You can tell the engine has become far more mature and it utilizes a lot more graphical functionality because it's not longer some unoptimized, rushed, PoS.

I think everybody is going to be very suprised with Crysis 3.

They said the same thing about Crysis 2. It needed texture packs and patches to get it up to Crysis standards. "PC crysis 2 wont be sacrificed to make console version" Hahaha... Not tomention the crappy graphics options they added.

Crytek promising to meet expectations for Crysis 3 (graphically)

http://www.nowgamer.com/news/1541070/crysis_3_graphics_will_melt_down_pcs_crytek.html

"Yerli [Crytek CEO] reiterated that the PC version of Crysis 3 will "look fantastic" despite the compromises inherent in simultaneously developing the game for PS3 and Xbox 360."

Wasdie

The graphics may be improved but the game will still be crippled with the consoles other restrictions such as level size, difficulty and simplified gameplay.

I'm not sure about that. They pulled off Crysis on the consoles with that same broke verison of the CryEngine 3.

Comming from the guys who said Crysis2 would look the same on pc and consoles, and that Crysis1 console port was going to look better than the original.

Lolz, totally not double talk PR BS.

kinda stopped listening to Crytek for awhile now.lawlessx

This.

They said similar things about Crysis 2, and Crysis 3 doesnt look that much different as far as graphics go. maybe they are going to melt down PCs with a poorly optimised console port.

I second this. I want to see the source behind that.

Wasdie, In other words, what you are saying is that that Crysis 3 will be what Crysis 2 was supposed to be? I think if they took a little extra time to make the levels a bit more open than the console versions they would have a real hit on their hands.

Yeah, it seems like everytime they do an interview the internet blows up and they have to make an apology for what they said.

same here. At this point Crysis franchise is dead for me unless they miraculously return to what made Crysis and Crysis Warhead good games
