For giggles, a pic from the beta. Check out the real-time reflection on the guy's visor. Bungie, take notes.

A day earlier than expected, the Crysis singleplayer demo is now available. The 1.77gb download includes one singleplayer level, and also allows you to look at the Sandbox2 editor.
Seems legit. Grab it while it's hot. If nothing else you can mess around in the sandbox editor.

Ok, so on "High" settings the game runs flawless. I got at least 40fps (my guess). Pretty much no hickups. Now, when I put it on very high I got like 20-30fps. Though, I still have to update my drivers. Also, DX10 'very high' on objects is disabled.
Also, according to overclock.com - if you have SLI enabled, turn it off. It improved performance in the demo.

Guessing on the FPS? I wouldn't do that. :P If I didn't have fraps on I would have seriously figured my 20 FPS for 40 FPS, it was quite smooth.
What res are you running at? And did you have AA on?
By the way, I don't know if anything should be disabled. That's really weird. Everything stays on "very high" for me. Or do you mean it's disabled in the demo, period, even though you can choose it?

AA is off, running at 1650x1050. When I put everything on Very High, the Object Detail was grey'ed out. Installing the nVidia beta drivers, going to see how that changes things.
It looks AMAZING,even on medium.I think I might just hang on medium and bump up the AF and AA.Low looks HORRIBLE though,no shadows at all.Greyhound222
I like it with shadows off , with everything else Very High ^^ freaking awesome. I never cared about shadows really though tbh :S .. means nothign to me.

No shadows? Weirdo.:PI have the crysis demo actually runs pretty damn good, on my 7800 gtx/athlon 64 single core 2.4 ghz.
I have one problem i cant select high texture detail if i put it on high all my textures are messed up, if i put it on medium it works fine, the high res texture option is almost broken for 256 mb cards or mine.

Yeah, I noticed in the beta that 25 fps felt much, much higher than it was. I thought it was 40fps until I turned on FRAPS.
Only 55 minutes left until I get to play the demo. FileShack has it right now, even if you didn't preorder from EA.trix5817

^^ no waiting i got like 800 kbps.
Whats worse with those pics? The lack of textures or the lack of anything happening in any of them? Hermits have low standards or are either desperate for new games to play, probably both.wok7
And here comes wok with his ignorant ways...
[QUOTE="TalesofRaGnArOk"]Everything looked good until that picture of the guy. Guess you cant have good graphics of people, but having it for the environment is still good.
trix5817
Crysis has the best character models of any game to date........
I agree. The character models are so detailed you can see the pores and random wrinkes and marks in their skin. In that pic where I'm holding the guy, I'm also running, that's why his face is all blurry. Because of the motion blur. In these I'm not running:

ZELIHARD ARE YOU RUNNING HIGH TEXTURES? mines freaking broken when i try to use it textures look like textureless just polygons lol.ut3nophysics
The beta was exaclty like that. When you changed the settings, it would take a while to load so every game I joined was a bunch of yellow crap mixed in with lines etc. I don't have the demo yet, but judging by what you are saying, you might want to wait a little bit for the textures to load. Wow Crytek delayed this demo for a whole month and it still does this crap?
Egads, Glitchspot is glitchier than ever. Ut3nophysics, I haven't had an issue with very high settings being grayed out like some have. None of mine get grayed out at all. Everything stays on very high.Zeliard9
Yah, I don't either anymore. I restarted the computer after installing the newest drivers and now on Very High I get about 15fps. The game is still suprisingly playable at this fps, but bare in mind I have my cpu clocked at 2.4ghz atm, so it's bottlenecking it. Going to up the clock speed later tonight, and see how that impacts the results.
Also, for those of you who are concerned about the graphics, don't be. I was playing on High @ 1640x1050 and it ran silk smooth, and everything looks damn sexy. However said anything lower then Very High looks like it is 3 years old, thats hardly the case.
[QUOTE="daveg1"]the faces dont look as good as before are you running in dx10??
also what are your specs system wise??
cheers.
Meu2k7
The faces look slightly better ingame to these screenshots, at least in my opinion.
They do. They look quite a bit better in-game, actually. But take into account my lazy picture compression method, though: I save the 5-meg Fraps .bmp file as a jpeg under MS Paint (yes, MS Paint), and then I resize and upload the compressed-by-ms-paint jpeg through Imageshack. Needless to say, the pics don't quite represent the game, though I still think they're good enough to give people a general idea. :P

so what res are you running at and what are your specs?Even the top of the line pc cant play this on 1920x1080 4xaa Ultrahigh at 60 fps. What a fuc*ing Joke!Big_Black_Eyes
If you would have done any research, you would know that Crytek did this on purpose so this game could be utilized by future hardware and look even better when that said hardware comes out.
This demo is freakin' incredible. I played through it 3 times non-stop.
Hype for Crysis= through the roof

Why the hell would you expect a game like this to be released, and output 60fps on a high end at 1080p. That has never happened before - not even on a console. Resistance was 720p and Halo 3 was less then 720p. In noob talk, that is 1280x720. Furthermore, since when was getting 60fps in a game, a nessesity outside of competitive online play - where graphics are inherently toned down for that precise reason? Lastly, even with all this in mind -- from what I have seen even medium setting in crysis looks better technically and asthetically then anything I own on my 360. So ya, Crysis more.
Halo 3 looks better... just kidin. Yeah crysis is the best looking game so far in the history and the most technalogicaly advanced. Im sure its gona be fun too.
But ill wait a bit and buy a new pc when 9800 series comes out.

Im with you, for such powerful system as you guys have, maxing a game and getting below 30 fps seems very very dissapointing, the graphics however, unmatched.
