Crysis - graphics king for 3 years and counting

Remember Doom 3? It was the most stunning game at one time, but its title as graphics king lasted a few months i think.

Crysis held that crown for 3 years now, and for some reason, will seemingly hold the crown for another 2 years or so. Even after 3 years, no game has come even close to the visual fidelity of Crysis

Are other devs simply not trying hard enough?

If you don't count mods, that new total war game probably looks better then Crysis vanilla.

Yeah weird how people still create these threads for the whole duration of Crysis being king.... Its like search buttons don't work for them... We all know but sure it does look good and even better 3 years ago.... Is this an ego boost or something? "Look PC is still teh pwnz!!" We know.....

Except when arguing graphics we usually use "technical graphics". And Crysis destroys Valkyria Chronicles in technical graphics.

You know Metro 2033 looks better than Crysis out of the box. Crysis looks amazing most of the time due to mods, not the actual retail game. Crysis does look really good but other games look better when you don't use CryMods.Nonstop-Madness

I'd have to disagree. Vanilla Crysis still looks better than any other game on the market.

Yeah for those of you who are in a hurry and want next-gen consoles in 2012, this is a good example of why this gen should wait longer. Grahpics haven't evolved enough yet to warrant a next-gen console.

I know hermits will try to tell you other wise and say how the PC graphics are light years ahead of consoles, but the graphic difference really isn't as big as I would've expected it to be.

One would assume that using superior 2010 PC hardware, compared to incredibly old 360 and PS3 hardware that the graphic difference would be phenominal. But for using tech that is around 6 years apart, you'd expect MUCH more of a difference in power.

Remember, the longer we wait for a next-gen console, the more powerful it will likely be. So be patient.

I'm going to be honest here and admit that even modded Crysis is showing it's age. In fact, Metro 2033 looks better out of the box than Reallifesys (Reli2) with texture mods does. As long as you don't start shooting at things that is.

The physics, destructbility (not prebaked) and sheer scale is what makes Crysis king. The rest is'nt all that anymore.

And tweaked Warhead (CCC) >> modded Crysis (CCC/textures OR Reli2/textures).

I've posted plenty of screenshots in sw to show what Crysis actually looks like in a playable state so I'll spare you this time (also, I'm in bed right now).

I beg to differ. Then again I don't have a DX11 card to play Metro 2033 in DX11 but I still think that modded Crysis > everything else.
