I agree. The statement in the review is just a flat out lie. I really think IGN and Gamespot were paid off. If you look at MGS4 on Gamerankings, the average score is 92%. Thats the lowest for a game that got a 10 from Gamespot.

P.S.- I don't think Crysis looks that sharp on any PC....yet anyways.

The statement is a lie. To make such a bold claim like Kevin van Nord did, there should be absolutely no debate that it is true. If a reviewer said the same thing about Crysis or Gears of War in 2006, no one would debate it.

And Crysis still beats it in that department too.

Crysis's physics are far beyond MGS4's physics. It also has massive outdoor environments with an extreme depth of field perception. Also take into consideration that the AI are more advanced and the detail of Crysis's environments are much higher than MGS4's as well (wind, animals, weather, etc).

well that's an opinion but as i see it MGS was more focused on story rather than gameplay and crysis was more focused on graphics than story, they both lose in major aspects but you fail to see that., and "real gamers" can choose what games they want to enjoy, i don't need to put my hand on a controller to enjoy a game and you cant tell me to do so..

and hell for all i could say Thief > MGS... but remember that's OPINIONS

Even then, gamespot isn't a tiny little site, this is a big name in terms of gaming websites, it's a ridiculous mistake or deliberate thing to say.

MGS4 -> bland graphic, blurry textures, low polygon count, jaggied horrible last-gen shadows, low amount of normal mapping, average shader effects, lousy AI, average animations, average physics, ugly looking first person gun and low polygon to.

Crysis, the opposite of all above. /THREAD

But then theres physics, audio, art style, effects and other stuff aswell.angelkimne

All three games have a great physics engine from what I've seen of it. :D

Good lord you do know that that was the most hilarious thing ever made?!... Crysis has a dynamic day-night system meaning you have to in the same place for the exact same lighting to come into play and it will look almost identical to the first pic.

False it was never set to very high, the creator of that image faked it (medium high mix), already concluded since months ago. Look below those are my own screenshots at 1280*1024 native with edgeaa 2 and high/very high settings mix. Runs great to at 30-40fps.

Exacly. MGS4 cant be judge by a pic. You have to own it and sit down and play it on a nice HD tv to see what it has to offer. IMO it looks better then gears,uncharted and Mass effect. I also think GS was just refering consoles.

I think MGS4's presentation completely blows away Crysis. Yeah I said it.

When I say presentation, I mean not how the graphics look, but how the entire game is presented to you.As good as Crysis looks, to me, the game is incredibly boring. MGS4 is one of the best games overall that I have ever played.

It does look like the frambuffer grabs + less jaggies becouse of more bluriness by TV. And no way it looks better than Uncharted or Mass effect.
